Porsche Boxster 986 roof not working investigation

In today’s video, Kayne is investigating why his electric folding convertible roof doesn’t work on his 1997 Porsche Boxster 986.
We narrowed the problem down to the drive cogs running beyond their stop point and coming off the drive motor. We tested both front and rear micro switches and determined that it was the rear micro switch, the one that tells the system that the clamshell is open or closed, is faulty, so the motors keep driving on with no stop signal, leading to the drive cogs losing their connection with the drive motor teeth. New micro switches are difficult to come by for a vehicle of this age, so its off to a breakers yard to see if we can find a replacement drive motor with the switch installed. Fitting that will come in another video.
