How To Repair Gel Coat Scratches - Perfect Finish
Thank you so much for your excellent presentation and explanation.
Thanks for tuning in glad we could help!
I’ve been detailing with torque on boats and it works well. I heard your comment on how long ceramic lasts based on age of boat. The 2006 red hulled mastercraft I detailed lasted only 2 months. I reapplied to finish season. Will your product last longer?
Coatings depending on use and where stored typically last 12-18months
Hello how to remove the discolouration?
You got me interested - Called then number on your site, and it's useless if you do not already have someone's extension, just hangs up on you. Do you not have a sales department???
Have you ever changed the window seals in the salon on the Lagoon 450F catamaran? Do you offer your services in Miami? Thanks
Attribution to your mentor 👍
Gs being ph 12.5 …..what about the coating , if any ?
He did put a little too much GS in there you barely need any
Hey I own a boat and made a friend of a very nice old timer Capitan here in Mexico, he told me when I was in dry dock next to his boat that he would help me clean my boat and take off decal residue. We did not know about the eraser wheel in this video. But the old Capitan told me to go to a air conditioning company and purchase some coil cleaner liquid. Then he applied some gently with a paint brush and afer he had covered about 2 to 3 square feet, we water hosed the hull at that point. WOW! (Do not use this method without having some running water handy and do not use inside)
What qualifies my company as a professional to receive the discount?
What's the max speed you would go during yacht compounding, polishing, waxing?
Is that extender behind your backing plate useful?
Was a young detailer at the detail dock in st Pete in the 90’s. That’s all we used 🤙🏴☠️🤟
I ❤ Flitz!
Thank you, this was awesome
Area under previous decal is probably the original (not faded over time) paint color. Hopefully the replacement decal will visually distract from the minor fade vs original color under decal. Nice tool - the 3M eraser pad!! Really made short work of 95% of the old decals.
Nice job
This is very easy. The hard part doing this outside in a marina in 100° heat.
I do cars an trucks but might stop by one day, I’m in Hudson Florida right next to the sun coast parkway
Definitely not made in china
Do you guys ever do in person training seminars?
I do auto details, getting into boats have both polishers. Needs pads etc. how quick is shipping?
How Bout aluminum bass boat
What flex are you using to wet sand? What is the throw?
i cannot believe someone scotch brighted their boat lmfao
You sir, f**cked that boat up 😅
I will stick with harbor freight. Much cheaper!
I'm sure your car looks like shlt.
Thank you for being so helpful. I left the tape too long and I have to redo the job.
Rotarys are for finishing. Long Throw DAs are for cutting
Great video, thanks for making it and putting it up for us. Really liked the tips on what not to do, cause im guessing you've watched enough kids get in the shop or "that new guy" and fight the tools, fight the method, and fight what you are telling them to do. I find a "what not to do" tip can get as much or even more mileage than a "how exactly to do" tip. Cause im going to try and do things in weird ways before i finally realize that the guy who showed me what to do had reasons for doing things exactly as hes doing those things. Why not to is a gift to us noobs. Thanks friend.
I detailed cars in the early 90’s and rotary is all we had. I just bought a forced rotation to do a boat for a buddy. It is a game changer for polishing but i had to use the old Mikita to compound with.
What I have found out in this video is that every one I know is using the wrong pads
I have that machine too, and it absolutely wears you out. It’s like trying to hold onto an excited 30 lb tuna after a while
I like how you did the intro after you polished it out. Backs up what you are saying and makes for a good intro.
How can you prevent or retard tanning on a white hull? I compounded and waxed the hull to a mirror shine. Kept the boat in a marina for 3 days to install new bunks on my trailer. Pull the boat out and tanning lines. Won't wash off. Now I have to spray on an acid to remove the tanning lines and destroy my hard work. Wish I have to do over again.
Thanks for the helpful hints and products information and pricing 🙂.
Why does it become grabby temperature ??
If that was mine boat and you do what you did Same SECOND yopu would go home
An no you can't use a foam pad as others had suggested lol. You are spot on!. Single sided pads are also better. Otherwise you need a bunch of attachments. You are correct. Learned alot. Thank you. Much appreciated
Amazing. You are the best!! Thank you.
FYI white pannel doesnt show anything on a computer
quarter inch thick!!!!
Ya after this video I would keep my decals
can the flex do the job of a rotary
How much should I charge
Nothing about prepping?
You mentioned applying a sealant right at the end of this but did not include details. What product did you use?
whats the charge per ft on a 2 step like this
He said it was $650 for this 30ft boat for just the hull sides. That's pretty reasonable. A full interior/exterior detail with 3 step and ceramic would probably have ran this customer about $3000. Personally, I do all my own polishing. The equipment and products pay for themselves in one use and you have the flexibility to do a section at a time.
What do you charge for completing a job like this? I have similar scratches on my boat and trying to get a ball park figure of paying a professional to do the job
How much would i charge for 25 ft consolé central, it needs compound, polish and ceramic coating
Polishing lightweight small parts is impossible with a random orbital , so rotary is the only way to go using 3 inch up to 5 in pads and I'm referring to Automotive two stage & single-stage paints. As a matter of fact I don't like DA's regardless due to the high vibration caused by various weights of different pads or else you have to change counterbalances which induces more work. so rotary truly is the best all-around polishing machine.. .
