Vintage Model A Ford Christmas Magazine Ads
Out of hundreds of examples of published magazine ads for the Model A only three had an obvious Holiday theme. These examples show how Ford used familiar Christmas settings to help market the Model A during Christmas of 1930.

If they are rattle-can black, cool. Drive it. A Model A is dedicated to the ...

A Prototype Model A Ford Pickup? The Slant Windshield Delivery Truck of 1931
มุมมอง 2.6K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Two grainy photographs. That's all we have to go by when talking about this curiosity of the Model A's. What we do know is that in March of 1931 two St. Louis, MO newspapers published very short pieces on this supposed new offering in the Ford commercial line. Was it a prototype? Maybe a pre-cursor to the Deluxe Pickup? A custom one-off done by a Ford dealer trying to attract attention? We may ...
The Slant Windshield Model A Ford

The Slanting Windshield; that's what Ford called it when they debuted an angled A pillar on certain body styles in late 1930 and throughout 1931. This subtle but significant styling change foretold the future of Ford body design for years to come. But...was it done for aesthetics or something else? 4:08. Henry had the blacks in the casting area because it was hotter than hell, and they were just happy to have a decent job. These kinds of jobs are what helped catapult blacks from the domestic and sharecropper class into the working and even middle class.

Merry Christmas, thanks for watching!
Does anyone know the number of individual parts that make up the car?
I'm sure it could be figured out but it depends on the year and body style and trim level. Thanks for watching!
Way back when American products used to be made by American companies in American factories with American materials and American engineering at the hands of American workers.
Nice good old factory
Ford Car fast speed fast Assembly line good old workers good working great
Beautiful nice old video old is gold
And a year later (1932), a V-8 would power the Model A.

Man, talk about vertical integration! Also so interesting to see what state of the art was considered for this or any time period.
Thanks for watching!
That technology was already very advanced back then
They had the money to experiment and try new things. If it failed, no big deal. Thanks for watching!
The factory is literally crawling with workers.
Tens of thousands of workers. Thanks for watching!

Hasn't changed much except for the prices. Process is still the same. Less people.

I'm impressed. I thought those "Buy car for Christmas" ads were of a much more recent vintage. I dumped TV 4 years ago, but the latest I remember are those Mercedes ones with Santa and the White Lexuses with the big red bows. The dealers were still swinging for the fences with those ads in 1931. I guess some people had the cash for new wheels. My guess is any Christmas purchase most likely was the customer was going to get a new car regardless and just deferred it to Christmas.
If you didn't already pause the ad at the 4:18 mark, the first one from 1931. It talks about the benefits of buying a car before January 1st 1932. Those dealers were already having a hard time selling cars and they knew the B and V8 were coming soon. They were desperate to clear out their stock. Thanks for watching!
No safety/OSHA, no pension, no raise, wages lowered, no workers compensation, no insurance, breathing toxic air, heat, cold, horrible wages, wages reduced, wages docked, no job security, fired at will, favortism, nepotism, 12-14 hr. work days, 7 day working weeks, company housing, crippling injuries, and many times fatal, company money, company stores. You get sick or injured you're in the street. Pure corporate greed just like today. Those men who built America were killers in their own world of greed.
All MADE IN CHINA Now.
Burnout rate was incredible. That was the biggest problem. They had even try doubling the money that they earn per hour and I still didn’t work.

All very good points even today. Safety first, cutting corners costs more time than doing it the safe way.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching.
what happened to the factory noise to ☹️music, couldn’t finish watching
There was no audio to begin with. All the "factory noise" you heard was added later.
Anybody knows anything about music? That sounds like alice's restaurant
You can get anything you want at Henry Ford's Assembly Line. Thanks for watching.
Great video!! I had to drive my Dad's 1931 Coupe at night "many" years ago (1990's). He did not have historic tags on it at the time as he drove it regularly. The headlight glare from cars behind me on the windshield was bad!! I now have his 1931 coupe since his passing and a 1931 slant windshield 160b fordor sedan. I have yet to drive the fordor sedan after dark to compare the windshield glare symptoms.
There's still some light bouncing around on a slant windshield but it is significantly less than on the straight ones. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

No flaps ! You just zoom up the runway & she takes off. Ford knew a thing or two about mass production. A wonderfully restored & preserved film ! Interesting accompaniment choice at the beginning -- could it be "Minnie the Moocher" ?

❤❤ ❤l😢
There were no fat asses back then. Ford worked those men half to death.
Actually, it was Henry Ford that implemented the 8 hour shift and 40 hour work week. He realized that production gains from working more than those hours would actually suffer because of over work. His factories were actually some of the best production jobs to hold at the time.
Half ?
70 MPH in a model A! Oh, mercy!
Walter and Bill's shop looks like a mess!
Good thing Henry was able to make this film to show them the error of their ways!
Typical Ford. Blame the dealers and push more work. And all because of the darn Jews!
I was mentioning to a friend that having been born in the mid ‘50s I observed that cars in my youth came with hubcaps and with optional wheel covers but today even many “economy cars” often come with aluminum wheels. I used my high school graduation money, back in ‘73, to buy a pair of Cragar SS chromed 5 spoke wheels for the rear wheels of my ‘69 Nova but kids today have cars with wheels from the factory that my friends and I would’ve loved to have had back then. Even the wheels that I bought and had my snow tires for my VW Jetta SportWagen to be mounted on are aluminum because they were only a few dollars more than plain steel wheels.
I love mine! ❤️
Great info. Thanks for posting

I’m not into cars of that vintage, my car is only 54 yrs old lol
I appreciate your point of view, and agree but not all colors work with white walls.
Now I like the Hessian blue I mean I think that would be good for an old motorcycle tank fenders etc maybe not the rims lol
