How's it going? I make videos mostly about games.

Can You Beat Golden Sun With A Glitch Character?
Golden Sun is a game where you get four characters to use in battles. To complete the game, you're expected to use all four of them. But using a glitch, you can get an unintended character, Jenna, into your party, and use her for the whole game. So is it possible to beat a solo challenge of the entire game using only this glitch character? In this video, I attempt to beat Golden Sun using only a glitch character!

Do you know if the glitched state of your party (with jenna & the mimic character) had any repercussions on the transfer password to send your progress to TLA? really curious to see how that'd work out
Based on other comments, it sounds like it doesn't look at Jenna's status at all, and Mia is sent to the second game in the state she starts at in the first game. So I guess the only real repercussion would be that you'd lose all the Djinn and items Jenna had in the first game!

26:40 a way you could show this for an explanation is by loading the room normally, recording/screenshotting the obstacles you are talking about in this section, then overlaying that on the gameplay whenever you reference it

22:05 also here you can actually ground jump with a bomb to climb over the big block then just use another bomb (or chus) to set the timer again, using 1 or 2 bombs (and one chuu) instead of what seems to be 11 bombs.
Serious question: Does use an emulator with save states, or just play through with great execution and retry sections where the glitch fails?

I have never been recommended a vid from you man before, but I gotta say, my brain worms got very clicky on the recommendation as soon as I read a combination of the words "Can I beat" + some game title that I have never heard of + "glitch character", that's just like a recipe for carbonara meatballs spaghetti as I see it

Depended on the situation! Normally I'd play until faced with some kind of obstacle, and then do research to see if any glitches existed that could get me around it.

You know, if you'd done the Forest Temple second you might not have had to do the glitch skip to get to the Deku Tree boss room. I think you could have shot an arrow through a torch into the web.
I'm confused as to why you'd _want_ to re-disable random encounters. It seems like it would be more beneficial to be able to level up freely than to move around the map quickly.
Moving around the map quickly wasn't really much of a deciding factor. I mentioned it briefly in the video, but the main advantage of keeping random encounters gone was the safety. Early in the game when there were no scripted battles I could use to train, the lack of random encounters put me at a disadvantage, but late in the game, when I had other options for training, it made more sense to get rid of them so I could keep Jenna in good condition while traveling. Since she was alone and didn't interact with the class system, she wasn't very powerful, so random battles weren't necessarily an easy way to train, especially compared to the Tempest Lizard/Bane strategy. I got another comment asking this, and VellusTerennia answered them with this comment, which explains it well: "Action economy. Jenna is a very fragile unit, as seen throughout the run, always being killed by 2 or 3 attacks. Lategame enemy packs can have up to 4 enemies in some configurations, and there's not exactly a wide berth of damage in the basic attack option between trash mobs and boss monsters. With a full party you can gang up on one mob and kill it in a single turn or spam psynergy with everyone and annihilate an entire pack all at once. Heck, with any other character in the game just setting up the proper class can provide the stats necessary to survive trash easily for grinding, if soloing. The problem comes down to Jenna not interacting properly with the class and djinni system. Golden Sun tends to finish with the characters around level 30, and their stats are significantly higher than in the base game then, but not entirely because of the levels gained. When you change class, you don't just get access to higher tiers of psynergy, you also get significant bonuses to your actual stats, offensive and most importantly defensively. You can more than quadruple your chance of surviving a single round by setting up the proper class, and farther into the game you're expected to be making use of those class bonuses to properly equip your units. So without them, Jenna dies too fast and can't output enough damage to safely clear massive groups of enemies."

bombs are there in c down because the game expects you to have a bomb bag and it auto sets bomb, nuts and ocarina right when you turn into an adult so it just places bombs because you should technically have bombs so the game forces it
Interesting that Jenna doesnt have her class data in the first game. If you skip Mia you can equip more than 7 djinn to the remaining 3 party members and while none of the new psynergy is there, you CAN reach 9-djinn classes like Ronin, Paladin, or Pure Mage and benefit from the further improved stats. Given that those classes are still in GS1, its a shame Jenna's classes were either scrubbed or simply not established by then.
I think it's likely the latter! Since she's not supposed to be playable outside of the first dungeon, they probably just didn't bother implementing classes for her yet.
Oh wow! I never realized that Cross-bone Isle could be accessed that way. I thought it could only be accessed by riding the tornado of the Red Tempest Lizard.
Yeah, it's a pretty well-hidden secret. There are a few passenger combinations that work, but from what I understand, if your selections aren't unbalanced enough, or are _too_ unbalanced, then you go to Tolbi as usual. You've got to be within a certain range to get to Crossbone Isle early. It's not something you're likely to do by accident!
