Kaori Sakamoto had tricky warm up. She popped a few of her jumps in that same position. Although it wasn't her best performance it was still great to see her live. She's so fast.

    This last Olympics sucked in many ways but figure skating is my favorite one to watch and this last time was awful! This is why we must follow the rules and have a fair plying field or it ends badly for everyone. If only other countries cared about their athletes as much as America does. Human rights is sadly not everyone's concern.

    Also, you mentioned we need to reward artistry. I completely agree that's the whole reason Kamila Valieva is so beloved. It's not quadruple jumps if it was Sasha Trusova would be considered the greatest skater in history. No she just called the Russian rocket. She's known for her jumps. In contrast, Kamila is known for her beautiful balletic body lines, her flexibility, fluidity, the way she opens up with her whole body from her toes to her fingertips, her incredible core strength. She's quite literally a prima ballerina, rhythmic gymnast, and modern dancer All in one. This is why she is so beloved. She is art! Judges heavily rewarded her because of this, and viewers were captivated by her. And so I agree, less emphasis on quads, more emphasis on clean triples, and gorgeous artistry. There is no skater currently that compares to her in terms of beauty of movement. The only skater that I have seen that tries to emulate Kamila is Mia Kalin. Mia not only had an outfit that looks like Kamila's bolero, but I noticed that with her upper body, she tries to use her arms and hands like Kamila. Of course she doesn't do it nearly as beautifully as Kamila, but she definitely is taking a cue from Kamila, trying to extend her arms and make them more fluid and use her hands in beautiful and unique balletic ways. Mia has a very long way to go, but I don't think she will ever reach Kamila's level of body lines and artistry because at a younger age, Kamila already had gorgeous positions, movements, and body lines, well before her junior championship and Eteri training. Kamila is just a natural for that and entirely unique. She could easily have been a Russian Prima ballerina, the greatest ballerinas in the world. Her training with the Bolshoi prima ballerina at the time, Olga Smirnova, shows that she moves even more beautifully than Olga! Olga heavily praised her for her ballet lines and technique.

    I'm devastated for her. Horrified. Let's be honest, someone on her coaching team came to her to give her a nutritional supplement and they told her to take it and she took it. And it was laced. There is no way that she sought angina medication out on her own. My theory is that these girls are so deprived of food and also hydration because they restrict water a lot that they can suffer heart palpitations from strenuous training. It is well documented by many skaters that Eteri make them train through injury. Thus, it's possible that she actually might have needed the medication due to heart palpitations because I've had them before for similar reasons. However, throwing the maximum at what was a 15 year old girl is outrageous. Especially when there is no precedent for this, similar cases of minors were given verbal reprimands and any awards on the day of the test stripped. Adults with the similar medication were given at most 6 months ban. I believe they are trying to send a message to Russia, and it's extremely unfortunate that they threw this girl to the wolves to do it. Kamila is quite simply the most talented figure skater in the history of the sport. It is obvious in looking at her programs from 6 years old onwards that she's been a prodigy from the start. Her stunning junior championship girl on a ball program, one of my favorites, was only a few weeks into training with Eteri. In other words, Eteri did not make Kamila. Kamila was already a genius. To know that this will end your career is catastrophic for people that love to see art and sport combined. I don't know if she can make qualifications for the 2026 olympics. However, I pray that she takes this time to preserve her body, train safely, stay uninjured, and come back in 2026 stronger. I believe she can win without quads. The question is can she still train them and will she qualify for 2026.

    I have to disagree with you. What they have done to this poor young girl is disgusting quite frankly. This is more than just a ban, more than just a medal. This is her life. I hope they understand the gravity of their actions after this sentencing…. You’re talking about the mental health of a young girl who is an enigma.. A once in a lifetime skater.. A prodigy skater not only in Russia but in the whole world. Whilst I believe in clean sport with no doping I also think that one should truly look at the whole picture and assess each situation case by case as this is was a unique situation. Now firstly - There is no substantial evidence that Trimetazidine actually improves performance especially not among individuals training at the elite level of Olympic athletes. Taking this medication would be more likely to hurt her due to the many symptoms and contraindications that can be involved when taking this medication. This drug commonly causes fatigue, dizziness, myalgia and muscle pain none of which are conducive to an elite figure skater like Kamila. Tell me how is she able to perform Quad Salchows, Quad Toeloops and her triple axel with even only 1 of those symptoms one experiences when taking the drug. Secondly - Regardless of the so called “potential” benefits of taking Trimetazidine in which are limited only to times in which it is actually taken and unlike many other doping agents it has absolutely zero potential for long term muscle or strength building. Therefore her NEGATIVE sample taken during the Olympic Games show that her record breaking performance itself was hard won and 100% clean/genuine. I am still hopeful that somehow this entire barrage against Kamila will resolve itself and the relevant people come to realise what they have done…

    It was the right decision. I do feel for her though, the adults failed her and need to be held responsible. But at the end of the day, rules are rules, and it shouldn't have taken almost 2 years to come to this decision. Other than the 3 girls, our empress Liza also suffered from this. Had the positive test result been released immediately, Liza would've been in Beijing

      Honestly this whole thing is super fishy. I honestly am starting to wonder if Russia purposely did this because they knew that they were going to go to war with ukraine, and they knew they were going to be banned from the international sport. Thus, they set up a skater to take a fall, the most talented skater in history and they knew it would be controversial and would curry pity for them, so that they could then have a bargaining chip to come back into international competition. Look, Kamila's career is over, look what you've done now you owe us and we can come back for the next Olympics. It just makes no sense. Why her why not dope Anna or Sasha? I don't believe Kamila knowingly took anything it doesn't make sense for a 15-year-old to purposely seek out angina medication. I think it's more likely that somebody on her team came to her to give her a nutritional supplement and laced it. This is probably why she was so flabbergasted and confused when the news broke. She genuinely couldn't understand what was going on. I would bet $1,000 that something like that happened. This girl is so talented if you follow her career from 6 years old onwards you will see she's a prodigy. Her junior championship girl on a ball performance was only a few weeks into training with Eteri. It's a masterpiece. In other words, Eteri did not make her. Kamila was already a genius. I just pray that she can preserve her body and come back in 2026 stronger and qualify for the next Olympics right before they begin. The question is will she still qualify in time? I believe she can win without quads. Quads are not what made her beautiful, it's her body lines, extensions, ballet training, she's exquisite and this is a travesty because her team f***** her life over.

      @@primalcritters They definitely couldn't do it to Sasha considering she's a firecracker and way more outspoken. She also had the most range of quads and already has a reputation in the senior rankings, so it wouldn't make sense to dope her

    she is innocent. the WADA and CAS agencies are the ones who need to be investigated. the athelte is under their standard guilty untess proven innocent. it is an almost impossible standard for the athlete to defend. people have no common sense. the drug is dangerous, causes lack of coordination, and would have no benefit to a 15 year old in this particular sport of skating. her talents are God given. this is an absurd punishment and is incredibly cruel to do to a minor. what nonsense

    • @mht4908
      @mht4908 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rules are rules, you test positive, you don't get to compete, and you don't get the medals. Andreea Raducan (Romanian gymnast who competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics) was 16 when she tested positive for pseudoephedrine. It wasn't her fault, but the fault of the team doctor. She was exonerated of any personal wrongdoing, but her medal was stripped regardless because at the time, that substance was banned. Andreea was also a minor when this happened, and she was given no mercy unlike Kamila. Russians are not above the law, and the nation has been given enough mercy to still allow their athletes to compete despite the huge state sponsored doping scandal
