I’ve not tested that myself as I don’t have the SM7DB and I no longer have MVX2U… but as the SM7DB has a built in pre-amp, this should allow a cleaner signal seeing as the SM7DB is carrying that extra load for the signal. But I’ve not tested this myself… I remember seeing a test where someone added an in-line preamp (Fethead) before it connected to the MVX2U interface and that did help the noise floor - I can’t remember who did that test though…

@@creativegreatsvisuals yes, but the SM7DB has a built in preamp for clean gain… SM7B doesn’t have a built in preamp, so the inline preamp was needed… Either way, you’re adding in an additional preamp, just one is inline and one is built in… So in theory it should work the same. But I don’t have either to test for myself.

@@creativegreatsvisuals you can turn off the preamp in SM7DB and bypass it to essentially make it an SM7B, the mic is essentially the same… one with a preamp, one without

Sounds like a cop out answer but start with your phone… In 2024 the landscape has change and you can genuinely get high paying clients with just your phone as there are people out their wanting stuff specifically for social media and prefer it shot via their phone so it’s not as polished and more “engaging” - there’s data out there which shows if you produce too high quality of content, people assume it’s a professionally made advert and don’t engage… but more relatable phone captured content connects with audiences more… So I am suggesting for you to start here… Then as money progresses and you work your way up, then start buying what you need and you will realise along the way what you’re needing… It’s taken me 13yrs of buying and selling stuff based off needs… and realising there’s stuff I just want, but don’t need… and then prioritising that way… You will only truly know until you start…

@@leo_hoang I already have a Canon 700D, with a few lenses. I already did some photos on my Iphone 13, but i just needed that bokeh of the lenses. I bought a few cheap vintage lenses, a Helios 44-2 and a Yashica 50mm f1.7. I like it very much, however i still dont know how to get a bit of fame. I already tried the TikTok format you was talking about, but TikTok limits your videos to be only seen from your own country's watchers, and because i live in a small country, getting fame is really hard.

@@balazslennek my channel isn’t exactly the most successful so I can only offer limited advice. If you’re doing it for fame then you will lose motivation quickly… Try do it from a perspective of sharing value or opinions… Just start creating content and you will find what limits you with time… Content ideas, equipment, or simple your interest in the platform or niche…

FX3 would need version 6 which was also suspended… what version are you using on your FX3?

As great as the camera is, you can always start with what you have. I have accumulated my kit over 13yrs so I have access to a lot at the moment… anything I am missing I can rent if really needed… just start shooting, the more you shoot the more workarounds you find to achieve your goals

That won’t work - the MVX2U needs to goto a computer/laptop and then ideally through their MOTIV software

Regarding your dilemma, it depends on how patient you can be really… I wouldn’t exactly say one is better than the other, you can get the job done on either of those options…

I have both the FX30 and the A6700. I do run and gun style interviews of tattoo artists. One thing about the A6700. It does overheat when used it for longer time.

Yeah - I had A6700 last year and before I started posting actual videos, I did upload some shorts last year with some tests and I was getting around 40min of solid record time before overheating… changing the different settings didn’t seem to impact too much for me… this is why I switched to FX30 as I have my full frame kit for photos and video, but I just wanted at least one for myself where I didn’t have to worry about overheating… If I had unlimited money I’d just have at least one of everything lol

It’s honestly frustrating that they didn’t make it more obvious it’s been suspended…

@@titan4260 I need to review the update through app process myself, but from what I can tell all it does is downloads the file to your phone wirelessly, then copies it to your SD card wirelessly through the camera then it’s the same install process… so it just removes the need for you to physically take SD card out, copying it over via laptop, and then physically putting the card back in… I will have a few FX30’s to update once the bugs are fixed and I will compare the two processes when it’s update time

Sony suspended the update - there are some users who have commented on this video and the last one who have the update available if you’re really wanting it… but personally because of the suspension I would wait for them to iron out the bugs… but the option to contact the other users who still have the file is there for you if you wanted

I’m not entirely sure, but is this a PAL vs NTSC setting issue?

@@leo_hoang Nothing like that, I recently saw a comment in another video, that after v2.0 the frame rates are really like that, the only real 24fps is in the 4k DCI codec

you are correct it has 1/48th for 24 P in DCI only, and there is no 60p DCI I also was wondering why I saw on some videos people with 1/48th on the screen, after researching it it is ONLY for 24p and DCI at the moment. That is also why I asked if the new Shutter Angle was true 1/48th and 120/th and why that is not an option anyways manually. There are people that try and fake it with variable shutter to control flicker but I am assuming it is not the same

Which batteries do you use? I have K&F USB-C rechargeable ones and when it dies completely and turn on the camera, it will still register as empty but then later kick in to give a reading…

@@ekphotographyI use it as a dummy battery with USB-C connected to the battery and leave the battery door open. Sometimes I’m charging other devices and unplug the cable and then forget to plug back into the camera and then the camera shuts off… when it does that, I would take the battery out, connect to USB, charge for a bit, and then when I add back into the camera it reads as a completely empty battery but works… then randomly it would magically say 100% available after a couple minutes…

I have a download link in my pinned comments, I’ve upgraded and the only thing I can confirm is the 3 party batteries issue but its not all, because my Watson batteries don’t give me the warning. They still work it’s just going to tell you that it’s a third party accessory. The lens is fine I have the same lens and that doesn’t give a warning.

Interesting… I couldn’t find this notice last week, I saw it for A7RV and the message I saw for FX30 didn’t mention cameras not starting, just that it was suspended because of the A7RV issue… Thanks for sharing - will take another look on Sony site for this

Yeah - I saw this notice, this was part of their standard practice for updating but v5 has been removed and has reported issues with third party accessories and lenses

@@leo_hoangI saw that notice as well. Apparently they didn’t want a repeat of what happened to FX3 cameras going wonky after the recent firmware release. I’ve got two FX30 bodies, and I would rather have a fully functional camera over a bricked camera with the newest firmware lurking in its brain.

@@TheIkeRai I did a follow up video on this topic, but so far I haven’t heard of any cameras getting bricked, just a couple quirks if using third party kit… but still not worth the risk if not working 100% perfect

Mine was the same, I believe it’s fake… yours sounds like mine, a very close fake in terms of the body, but I’ve done sound checks, there is a difference… Not sure how much you paid, but could still technically be worth it as I didn’t think it was a bad sound, but noticeably different to the genuine one…

@@leo_hoang i paid equivalent to 143 dollars in a sale, but yeah i do feel like its a fake but it really outshines every mic i ever owned before. Ill be keeping it for the foreseeable future. Atleast until I can save up for a sm7b lol

@@Middas yeah I had the fake for 2yrs before I realised, no complaints until I heard an SM7B next to it… then I heard the genuine MV7 and can hear the difference… I’ve tested a lot of mics and to most people, including me, you only really know the difference when listening side by side to another mic… Plus with so many ways to edit audio, unless it’s offensively bad, $143 doesn’t sound like a lot… I’ve got videos on how to check for fake Shure SM7B, so if you ever decide to buy one, check my videos out first…

@@Middas if you haven’t had a problem with the sound of your current mic, I would just carry on with that as the one I had wasn’t terrible. Just when comparing there were some obvious differences but when listening to it by itself it wasn’t a bad mic to me… SM7B you would need other accessories to make it work, so it goes beyond the cost of an SM7B… if you can afford all the accessories then I would go for SM7B… it’s not even for the sound quality, it’s for the look and prestige of an SM7B… For pure sound quality I prefer the Electro-Voice RE20 for roughly the same cost as SM7B… MV7+ is too similar to the old MV7 for me… no real benefit… So I guess my answer in short is it depends on what you can afford… The sound samples for fake vs genuine are in this video amongst a few others I’ve made, so you can make the call yourself… But personally I would just go for Electro-Voice RE20 or SM7B… if you’re not willing to goto that level of budget, I would stick with what you have…

Do you use any third party items like lenses and batteries? If so, what specific items are they?

@leo_hoang I use Sigma 18-50mm lenses mostly. The after-market batteries never worked even before the update. I hope this update doesn't ruin my shoot! 😔

@@AWAShowme I use a K&F USB-C chargeable battery as a dummy battery in my FX30… and Sigma 18-50mm lens. On v4 everything is spot on… but if going to V5 interferes with this, I will hold onto v4.. shutter angle isn’t that much of a difference for me… I’m regularly breaking the shutter speed rules lol

@leo_hoang For sure. I agree with you. Just the other day, I was at a dimly lit wedding and had to use a variable shutter to get rid of banding. Also, the dji rs4 is only compatible with shutter speed mode. Hey, we should do a collaboration!

Are you using all official Sony kit?

@@leo_hoang I use Sony batteries and lenses, but also use Sigma and Tamron. Does 3rd-party batteries and lenses have anything to do with the reason the update was taken down?

@@vailant from what I’ve seen in my comments section, third party items are affected. Third party batteries don’t register power levels correctly or they don’t work at all, and lenses don’t AF properly… they have specified what third party brands or lenses, but because I use Sigma 18-50mm and K&F battery for my fx30, I won’t be updating until I hear we are all good… it would be such a shame if they remove third party support - what third party items do you use?

@@leo_hoang I see. I'm have a Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary and Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD (not G2). Otherwise, the batteries and other lenses are 1st party.

Very strange - there’s definitely something not quite right with this update so I would hang tight for v5.1 - keep me posted if you find any other bugs

It should be compatible, I would check your cable and check your USB connection settings in your camera…

@@leo_hoang Computer detects the camera just fine. I can send photos through the Imaging Edge program just fine. Lightroom is the latest version. I'm running 2.0 firmware on the camera. Lightroom just spins and spins and spins trying to detect the camera.

Yeah it was actually reported A7RV had power on issues, but other viewers have shared their stories in the comments and it seems it’s more to do with third party stuff… so third party batteries and lenses don’t work well anymore which would have been a big problem for me…

Ah! Good to know regarding DCI! A couple people have flagged to me third party items mo longer work. Batteries don’t read values or in some cases, even work! Third party lenses also don’t af properly etc… This would have been a big problem for me so I’m glad I didn’t update

I updated on day one and mine paired with the sigma mc-11 and 18-35 works perfectly. AF, bluetooth and everything else is as usual

Hey, happy to help but it’s a broad question which can go many ways… did you want to consider something more long term? Just temporary to get you started? Budget? Do you only have ZV1 now? What level of audio are you looking to achieve? XLR mics you will need an interface, so if you were to get the Shure SM58, the cost doesn’t stop there. So you might be better off with a USB mic or Rode Shotgun NT-USB… let me know how much you are willing to spend and what the ultimate end goal is to reach? I am an advocate of buying nice rather than buying twice… but with audio, there are many many many options! So I’m sure we can find something that fits your needs… I haven’t tried them all, but can advise you based off what I have tried

@@leo_hoang I've only faced the issue with my Samyang AF 24mm f/1.8 FE lens which is currently at firmware v1. I'll post a comment here once I've updated the lens firmware and tested it with fx30 firmware v5.

@@Mionwang My Samyang 12mm AF is also buggy when it comes to AF after the update...

@@phambilitv ​ Hey guys, a quick update. My Samyang lens station just arrived and updating the LENS to the newest firmware totally fixed the issue. Not only did it fix the issue, the AF is performing better than earlier.
