I enjoyed the Electro-Voice RE27N/D whilst I had it, but I won't be keeping this specific one. I may buy one in the future depending how rich or stupid I feel. leohoang_media
In this video the RE27 sounded better.. I think it makes your voice sound pretty good, I'm a professional broadcast audio engineer, I do a live stream on my channel (ham radio) for fun only.. ( you can check out past live stream on my channel) was looking at this mic as an upgrade/change to push a little more audio out in my stream.. I'm kind of on the fence about it. The radio engineers i know say they like them.. You made a very good point in this video, if you are an amateur, the mic right out of the box doesn't sound good and have to add some processing to it. I had an SM7, got rid of it, because it didn't have the punch i was looking for with my voice. remember audio you need different tools for different job one mic might sound good on someones voice but not another. thanks for the reviews I'll be subbing and look forward to other reviews..
Thanks for the feedback - I’m listening back to this video now and realised my technique was a bit poor having it directly in front of me getting all those plosives! Yeah right now I’m with you, I have SM7B and RE20… I’m leaning towards RE20 as the preference… Your comment reminded me of the RE27 and I did just have a Quick Look on eBay and put in an offer which got declined lol… probably for the best lol
Here's how to fix your grill position without a grub screw. -- You take about 12 inches of Teflon tape off of the roll and roll it in your fingers until it becomes rolled up like a piece of thread. With the microphone in the upright position, you start threading on your Teflon tape in the bottom thread groove of the microphone going from RIGHT TO LEFT threading on the Teflon tape as you go up. once you have that on, screw on your cap it should get tight before you get it screwed on into the correct position. That is how you fix that problem without the proper grub screw. And if you put the Teflon tape on going in the correct direction from right to left. It will stay on when you thread on your cap
If your problem with the re27 is more aesthetic (not being able to turn that piece because it is so tight) than functional and I see that you have not gotten any advantage from it over the others... you really don't need it. I have seen the product advertised on eBay, in the same conditions that it arrived to you... so I think the seller has more units... it is true that since I am from Spain it costs me more money because I think it is shipped from uk and I have to pay taxes so it is even less profitable. I am one of those who thinks that the head often gives us absurd answers (such as that piece not being aligned) so that we do not make wrong decisions (because if you think about it, the fact that that piece is like that does not affect its operation) I think you made a very good decision, it is a common microphone, surely more units will come out or at some point there will be a good offer. Greetings!
Thank you - the one listed back on eBay is the actual one I sent back. The listing went back up the same day they received my return. It’s not that common here in the UK so unlikely I will find a good deal, but the honeymoon period for this mic has gone and I feel RE20 for me has more benefits over the RE27N/D… I tend to make stupid purchases I can’t lie lol… who knows what I might find on eBay in a few months time lol

Mic unfortunately is now refunded… if I still had it, I would have loved to have tried this fix… will keep in mind if a similar issue comes up again

Your point about it being too advanced for you appears to be correct
No denying that
