Yeah, something is strange about that mic head's off-axis placement. Returning it is the best idea. Luckily you noticed the screw issue before the return window expired because it probably could never be serviced in the future with a stripped screwhead. 😎
It’s funny to think it’s back on eBay now listed as Grade A again… the 10% coupon code I used is now a 15% coupon code lol… so I could technically re-buy for cheaper lol… but no, not worth it for me… I’ve listened back to my comparisons and I think the RE20 is better… What’s your thoughts on the sound quality?
Yes - this was the Broadcast Preset under the Shure SM7B profile. I haven’t compared SM7B to RE27, I’ve done a couple comparisons with RE20 and I prefer my RE20 sound… but it’s bad way to look at it, but I prefer the “look” of SM7B as it’s more of a recognisable mic… Def not a bad sound, but I just find the RE20 sounds more full and smooth…
@fredoverflow yeah it sounds a bit odd but each “Broadcast” preset is tailored to each mic. So if I set RE20 Broadcast, it’s a different EQ to SM7B Broadcast. Each mic also has Podcast and Neutral Presets. So for the RE27 mic, I had to set it to Dynamic as it’s a more generic profile. So it’s not a completely fair test as Rode have tailored profiles for RE20 and SM7B… and I don’t know how to EQ properly… But when they’re all unprocessed and raw audio, RE27 is easily the worst!

@@leo_hoang The RE20 sounds better to me too. I am a SM7B guy myself but I have always admired the sound quality and non proximity effect of the RE20.
The outro text says "Broadcast Preset". Doesn't the Rodecaster Pro 2 include a dedicated Shure SM7B preset as well? Have you compared them yet?

@@leo_hoang I mean have you compared the Broadcast Preset with the SM7B preset on the Rodecaster Pro when using the SM7B both times?
@@leo_hoang I may be confused about the available microphone presets; I don't own a Rodecaster Pro myself.
