Which sports channels are you aware of that use this mic? The only place I’ve seen this mic is MKBHD Waveform Podcast… I’d be curious to hear other live samples
Never been a big fan of the Electro-voice mics myself. However, the lack of proximity effect when moving close to the mic has always impressed me. I agree though, the mic looks strange with the head turned off axis from the other smaller grills on the stem.
Yeah - I think I could put up with this off angle grille if the price was closer to £200, but the seller has even re-listed at £450 lol - no chance with it in this condition for me… someone else might go for it, but I’d rather go spend the RRP UK £750 and get myself a brand new one. But I won’t, through all my testing I feel the RE20 with a little EQ works great for me. Even the SM7B gets me great sound with some Processing. So I’ll stick with these two and can’t see me needing anything else.
97.1 the ticket in Detroit has two in their studio, the producer and the guests use them. They are in the top 5 nationally for ratings, Colin Cowherd on ESPN uses this mic for their show just to name the top shows nationally. Those are two right of the top of my head…but it is popping up A Lot in radio studios for sports especially
I will check those out and keep a lookout. I’m UK based and can’t recall seeing them much here. Which would make sense really as EV are based in US I believe? They’re at least manufacturing this mic there. This mic has been sent back now though… I do now want one, but a better condition one!
😂 it’s a sign! It has been officially sent back now… collected a few hours ago… I got maybe one more video on this mic, maybe 2 depending how I format it… but it’s officially no longer with me
All the people need to try with his voice any microphone because all the people don´t have the same voice and for example for one men that his voice is very nasal, SM7b microphone is not for you because the sm7b microphone, have a nasal sound. I I would recommend you bought the re20 metal pop filter, i have one and the sound is better with then , It is noted that it improves the explosives. i prefer the RE20 sound. for me it´s not special the re27 sound.
Thanks for checking out the video - I am back and forth between RE27 and RE20 at the moment. I have the Metal Pop Filter and a foam Windshield. I haven't used them yet or done a proper test with them. I just got so distracted by this RE27... I'm listening back to this audio comparison and my god the flat response is so sharp! With the high cut it's much better...
@@leo_hoang I think these microphones are not the best when what you want is a good flat response... that is more work for condenser microphones that capture all the naturalness of the voice. It is normal that you are worried about learning how to handle the re27 because you have time to return it and you cannot entertain yourself. You'll tell us if you finally kept it. all the best!
Let’s get this man to 100 subs 🎉
Much appreciated! 👊 my goal was to hit 100 before the end of the month, so not far! Thank you for the support
The best use case for the RE27 is for talk radio, a lot of sports talk radio shows are now using these.

The RE27 sounds fine either way.
Have you heard of "Gear Acquisition Syndrome"? Because you definitely suffer from it.
Oh trust me… I def suffer from it… I’ve only been posting mic stuff recently, I haven’t even started on cameras and lenses lol
lol even the name says REFUND
