Abandoned While Pregnant, How did Kalika Shivakoti Build her Life with Just One Hand?
Pregnant at 38 but having just one functional hand may seem like a daunting, almost impossible circumstance in life, but Kalika’s resilience helped her see what she describes as arguably one of the more difficult phases in her life. Such were her circumstances that she had to tie her son with Downs syndrome to a sewing table just to be able to go to work.
Today, she considers public holidays and time off granted by Shanti Sewa Griha as a privilege that she devotedly spends in taking care of her son and his needs, while polishing her skills in sewing traditional Nepali embroidery.
Watch her remarkable story for your weekly dose of inspiration!

มุมมอง 543 หลายเดือนก่อน
Despite being born in an age where women were expected to manage households and prepare dishes adapted to varied tastebuds, Sarita Mishra’s passion lay elsewhere. Misan Pariyar’s Adventurous yet Unconventional Childhood

For any child, parents are their earliest role models. What if a child never had one, did not get to see them long enough, or noticed them yet was unable to relate? But coming to Shanti changed a great deal for the ...
