Dancing through Sadness and Grief - Suni Mai Tamang‘s Story of Tragedy and Triumph

Nepal’s earthquake in 2015 was, in some ways, a watershed moment for several thousands of people across the subcontinent, uprooting and perhaps overturning lives in a matter of minutes. Suni Mai Tamang, a young girl from Sindhupalchok, was one among the many who tragically found her mother dead and buried under piles of debris.
Almost a decade since the haunting moment, Suni Mai today finds herself part of a new family that protects yet inspires her to break new ground with passion and compassion.
In pure poetic terms, her story begins from a pile of rubble.
