“I was routinely attacked by livestock”, Phulmaya said, wiping her tears, as she described the tumultuous years preceding her first steps through the gates of Shanti Sewa Griha.
Persuaded against scrubbing dishes and mopping floors as domestic labour by family members, Phulmaya crossed several hurdles to earn a life of dignity for herself and later, her family. Today, however, she is instrumental in making Shanti Sewa Griha a household name throughout Europe with her skill in weaving traditional Nepali fabric all from her little corner.
