Excellent tutorial, you saved the day, I was about to give up until I found your video, many thanks
@michellemaher8110 Glad it helped! Not the easiest to film but once you get the knack you're fine! xx
Just found your channel and have already learned so much from you. I have a 7700qcp and realise I have not seen its full potential even after reading the manual so many times.
@sued.5698 Every day's a school day in my sewing room! Especially on these bigger machines....love them!! xx
why bother with a foot at all?
@OracularWhispers Personal choice. I find it useful, especially when teaching as it reminds people where the needle is and I don't use a hoop generally so it gives less bounce and pulling.
I love watching this video as its perfect for reminding me of what i can create. Thank you for the video. ❤
I thought your use of the blindstitch foot for pintucks was brilliant and then you did the decorative stitch on the wider one which was even more genius. Thank you from Canada.
You're welcome! These kind of details can make a blouse so special. xx
I have the 6234XL. After getting the hang of it, threading is a breeze. No need for an air threader. That switch that brings the looper out is the best. I have to say though at the beginning I had lots of problems with thread breaking until I watched a video how to thread and the guy threaded the upper looper first so I tried that and it works every time. So niw I have no fear. I could thread it everyday! I have also just read about overlockers in Tilley and the buttons, stretch book. She also says to thread the upper first. I love your way of sewing French seems. That's brilliant. I do a lot of them so I will do that next time. Much quicker and no threads peeping through. Thanks, I'm going to look at other videos.
Thanks ❤
Thank you. Enjoying your videos. Really enjoyed painting.
Thank you very much!
I can't wait to try making these! Thank you
You are so welcome!
I wonder about the tension. I tried my rolled hem foot on my MC6700 and the rolled hem result on my lightweight viscose seemed to stiff and just a wee bit wavy. I seem to have very similar results when I increase or decrease the tension.
Maybe try the stay stitching method I do with the curved hems as the waviness may well be from the fabric fibres stretching slightly. Maybe take the stitch length up slightly too.xx
@@janomestitchclubuk thank you, I will try that!
Thanks
I’ve caught up now too, some lovely ideas there and no excuses not to have a go! Thank you
@@lesleyjohnson6298 You're welcome!
Lovey Julia. Was on nanny duties earlier but watching now. 😍
Sorry I was late. Lovely ideas Julia.😊
Hi...bit late to the party...but that was great, thanks
welcome!!
Thank you that was a brilliant demo. Now to get sewing, loving the earring idea!
Have fun!😊
Oh and you are a great instructor!!
I really like this one.. new to quilting 13 months.. I am quilting with my Janome 9450 .. and been stenciling pouncing and free motion…quilting… never thought to go around objects.. so thank you so much..❤
You're welcome!
Thank you, i have learned so much from you.
Glad to be of help 😊
Hi Julia, Sarah here. This video has been incredibly helpful to me having just taking home the 6234XL. I will certainly be rewatching and I'm determined to give the rolled hem a go! Thank you for such an informative and helpful video.
Fantastic! Awaiting your next make with lots lovely hems!! xx
Excellent video. Wondering can i use the Qo free motion foot cat D you used at the end on a janome DKS100? Or is there a cat b version?
Thank you🙂 Tha t foot is only availafor specific Cat D machines I'm afraid a nd wouldn't fit your DKS100.If you want to lessen the hopping then it might be looking at the convertible set which I show which you can get for Cat B xx
@janomestitchclubuk thank you so much for your prompt and very helpful reply. 😊
Ps I've already passed on this video. It really is excellent and so clear.
I love all your videos which I find, are very clear and instructive. My question is this: how do you use the rolled hem foot when stitching around corners such as you would have if making napkins? I would really love to see a demo on this technique please. Many thanks!
I stitch to the end and start again with the fold and press on each side in turn. xx
Marvellous¡
Great lesson
Thanks for that. Especially the advice where to place your finger in order to keep the fabric upright as it proceeds to go through the foot. One of these days I’ll master the technique.
I have just bought the 9300DX, I've never used an overlocker, been sewing for over 70 yrs hand, treadles, and electric sewing machines. I've always wanted an over locker, these videos are going to be a life saver. Just plugging it in this morning took courage!! I have now managed an edge !!! Well pleased . The chain stitch is the thing I need to remember at the end of my piece of work, not pull it like you do on a standard Machine, mine is also a Janome. All help gratefully received. Sue
They are honestly life changing!! Enjoy! xx
Thank you I will, making wheat bags to help those of us elderly to keep warm having lost the winter fuel benefit. This is going to speed up the process amazingly, actual bag to make plus washable covers. Shop bought ones you can rarely wash. So now I've got the overlocker I won't need to do double turn overs or try and trim the edges, it will do all that in one go!! Magic Thank you
I’ve made the witch but wondering how you attached the head, hair and hat to the body. Did you use your glue gun (like you did for the angels?). Pleased to say I got the thread . Love your tutorials
You can either glue gun or stitch as the head sits on top of the raised collar bit (glue gun is quicker!) Would love to see a pic if you can tag @ janomeuk on Instagram or Facebook(Sewing Box Somerset) xx
Fantastic demo. Thank you Julia looking forward to trying these out
You're welcome! x
You are so COOL!
Thanks 😊
Hello, the link for the template isn’t working. I’d love to give this project a try.
Hi will sort the link on Monday when back in the office but for now you can find it here xx facebook.com/share/p/CrAfiSc6rFT5US75/
Thank you very much, very interesting also on my 9480. There are so many possibilities. ❤❤
Aaaah……..gums and teeth - great analogy 👍
Carol So pleased I have just watched this video, my first one!, as I had my first go of sewing a name on a new baby's comforter - with very little practice. Should I have added a backing as the comforter was already two thicknesses? Also I didn't know to cut the stitches between the letters though couldn't really see them as was quite thick but very soft material. I will certainly watch your videos in future, thank you so much.
If it was 2 layers that would be supported enough. There is also wash away stabilizer which can be used on fluffier fabrics to stop the stitching getting lost. Glad it helped 😆
Супер!
Are there more videos explaining the satin and blanket stitches?
The full version of this blanket stitch one goes out on Thursday th-cam.com/video/DVh5VY0Qxl8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c2wtySkmFu9-u1dx There is also this one on the satin stitch th-cam.com/users/live52aOmDV-218?si=PQa7tnihf5F2H_8k
