Three Acres Of Marche, Italy.

My name is Richard. Follow along as I renovate my old abandoned farmhouse in Corinaldo, Le Marche, Italy that I paid less than £50k for. I show you a candid, real life view of the challenges faced while not living in Italy full time. Join me as I balance and plan the dream life, work, family, travel, the renovation and Italian red tape all while I explore the best of Italy and Le Marche. Slow living in Italy is the dream.
Eat, Renovate, Explore - all in balance because what is the point in having a nice house if the Italian lifestyle is not better. 😎 🇮🇹
PS - I work in IT and am not a house builder. This is my DIY, learn as I go, renovation.

The BIGGEST improvement so far. ITALY renovation reality RAW and honest #26
This is the abandoned farmhouse with land that I bought in rural Italy for a bargain price. My plans for the property restoration and lanscaping of the land are taking a positive step forward. Take a look at the land now that the work has begun and let me know what you think. The two barns and the derelect outbuildings can wait while I plan the outside kitchen and areas to enjoy living outside in all seasons. Plus I explore the Apennines and show you what inland Le Marche looks like.
Welcome to my channel about my big plans to renovate an old abandoned, rustic, farmhouse that I bought for a bargain. Not being able to live in Italy full time means that the Italian lifestyle and dream is one that I am slowing moving towards. I show you why I chose to buy a house in Italy and why I chose the Marche region over places such as Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo and Puglia. A blend of renovation, exploration and reality with as much fun as an unfunny middle age (50 year old) man can muster.

Why is Italian paperwork so complex (and slow) | property renovation delays #25
มุมมอง 21K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Chasing down some paperwork that is needed for me to prgress with the landscaping and renovation gives me a few curveballs and deflating moments. I bump into the classic Italian process that always slows things down. Five weeks of calls, texts and emails and I am back where I started. Is this fun? It is an adventure, thats for sure. Getting used to the way that things work in Italy takes quite ...

new to the channel. love what you're doing! for the multiple angle camera shots, are you repositioning the same camera multiple times or do you have several set up to keep continuity? also, united or city?
I could only dream on moving to Italy!
👍
I've recently started watching your channel, having started with your first video and continuing working my way through to the most recent. I really love watching you working around your property and enjoying the life there. You have such a great attitude and it is very satisfying to watch you making progress cleaning up around your home. I hope your plans work out. From what I've seen, patience and getting to know locals and how things work are the best approaches.
Great job
I really like that area. It has everything and you’re doing amazing stuff with the house. Hard work pays off. I love Italy besides the paperwork.
Idea for erosion abatement: The down slopes and top could use a layer of soil then pack in stones of the same size, round ones it in. Then use concrete reinforcement iron mesh fence, 4 x4. Inches by as many meters length that covers all slopes and top on all levels. Plant grass seeds on top and more soil over the rocks on the slope parts.
I think you should start by building some steps!
I love your videos
Hello! Hubs and I are in Florida, USA. Hubs and I are looking in Italy for a place as well. Found your channel and you describe exactly what we’re looking for! I have cousins in Ascoli Pecina in the Le Marche Region. Anywho, hubs has 40 years in construction and recommends that you put a French Drain along the bottom terrace, for run off to the road, or away from the house. We’re enjoying your vids! Great information for future Expats! 😊
I love your honesty
Put plan on paper, then review and do measurements a second or even a third time.
How about a drain field for the septic tank?
Corner lower cabinet with lazy susan works nicely, the door is hinged at the angle so folds back on itself and the attached on hinge side. Easy to access the contents, holds many small appliances and other kitchen necessities. Suggest you look into such as there is no wasted space and just turn the lazy susan and everything comes to the door for easy extraction.
Hello from the USA the state of Kentucky
Beautiful
We want to move overseas and have been looking at , Italy as a possible location. Your place is beautiful! Love the privacy and peace! Happy to of found your channel.
If you lay down some pine straw, it will help combat against weed growth. It could also help with erosion. Also, square bales can help with erosion. That's what we do in East Texas.
Great idea, helps with erosion and weed suppression - it next spring. Can move those bales elsewhere later or allow to compost.
I’m following you for a while now. We have a look alike project like you, couple of km away from you near Cingoli. We are now in year 4 of reconstruction and the project, (never ending of course, but the phase to have the essential things done) will require another 2 years. We will also shape our ground/farmland in order to design it as much self-organizing as possible. Being your almost neighbor, I also want strongly recommend you that you cover all area where you don’t want weeds to grow. The ground looks not so fertile, al that clay…., but you will be amazed how fast al your landscaping will be overgrown by herbes you would never imagine to grow there, sometimes taller than you and with trunks 3 cm thick in only a couple of weeks. Unless you either mow every two weeks at least, or you have sheep or you cover the soil with root cloth your nice clean area will return into a wild bush very soon, even in winter time. Warm regards, Jürgen
You are so naive about olive trees😂....read some book on how to do it before planting random trees
18:25 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Lets go love this
People steal those electric bikes like crazy; a pair of bolt cutters and they got your bike. You may want to look at a chain with larger hardened steel links.
أقترح أن تبني حجارة كجدران للمصطبات حتى لاتنجرف التربه إلى الأسفل وقت المطر وتنزلق نحو المنزل
That looks like great riding country. I haven't ridden in Marche, but last month I did some climbs that have been in the Giro in Abruzzo and Veneto - also rode to San Marino. We're vaguely thinking of buying a place in Italy and proximity to good cycling is important!
Great progress, Richard! And you're getting some wonderful advice, I see :) I think a patch of sunflowers, off in the distance near your tree, would be gorgeous. Keep dreaming!
Swales, berms, and cover crops. Then trees! Retaining walls on farmland is blasphemy.
You can do it your way
What about a scrumptious swimming pool me old darling..
looks like they have done a good job Richard, I like it.
Go in search of other properties with similar terraces so see their layouts - but you need to do something about drainage, keep the soil from moving - go ahead and sow grass seed to hold it back - sow it heavy
I'll try this again. Wow three acres is a lot of land to work. I agree with the comment that it looks like a quarry, gravel pit now, only due to the straight lines. Nothing in nature is straight - look at the mountains or how a river wanders for inspiration. You asked for opinions - I would have made the lowest level by the house even bigger - yes bigger. The tiers also would have been wider and had random curves. To lessen the steepness of the slopes - they would have been wider/deeper - easier to work on since you're not a mountain goat. Where the tiers end on the lower part of the land - they would curve/flare out - to be more open and welcoming. Just like the nature inspired curves on the Museum of Civilization in Hull, Quebec, Canada. It was designed by native architect Douglas Cardinal. You have the land space - use it. It isn't a farmer's field anymore, so bring the beauty of nature back.
Lets see if this part stays too. Number 1 - if you want to leave the levels (straight and steep) as is - then stabilize the soil. It's not too late to alter the plan. Better to have a rethink than regrets. Number 2 - trees can be planted a year or two later as it won't make that much difference in growth. Number 3 - people always underestimate the tree canopy and it's roots space when planting - allow for that and for the wind to pass through - that will insure for better growth and less wind damage. Number 4 - with so much area to cover - I agree with the lavender, sage, rosemary planted in large swathes. Oleanders too. Number 5 - with an abundance of local olive oil - and you already more than enough work to do - maybe plant fruit trees instead of olive trees. You can pick and eat, or preserve. Canning your own fruit is far less intensive, and you can enjoy your jellies or compotes during the winter months. Number 6 - you could always help your neighbors during harvesting and pressing the olives, to experience that. You still have enough land left should you want too - to plant more way olive trees needed to make a few liters. Number 7 - don't rush it. Trial and error is so frustrating especially on such a large scale. Number 8 - farmers removed the rocks from fields, hardscape with rocks and boulders for a more natural look. Being one with nature is so moving.
I'm so excited for you with these most recent changes. Congrats mate.
@threeacresofmarche Can’t wait to see when it’s all done. It’s gonna look great! 🍷🍷
I keep trying but my comment doesn't show??? Even tried to use a reply and still it disappeared?
Plant grass just to keep everything stable until you get to everything. Best thing we’ve done to keep weeds and erosion at bay while working.
Thanks for showing the amazing cycling there is over there, every time I’ve been up Mt Nerone it been cloudy, even in the summer, looks like you had a cracking day. Next big ride try out the San Bartolo national park, start in Pesaro and do an out and back, it’s a cracker!
