The plans are moving forward and I hope you can see the lifestyle of the Le Marche area around Corinaldo and Senigallia and a snippit of what it has to offer. Thanks all. 🙌
Hey, I love your videos. For me, at least, I’ve had zero audio issues as I usually watch on headphones but even on my system it sounds great. FYI rats can into holes as small as 6.35 mm (1/4”) so even the hole near the bottom of the right door is enough for them to enter. Keep it up, mate.
Cheers to you too, great video. Thanks for the laughs eg the hairnet, the foot mud bath which you’d pay a fortune for in the UK. Loved your cycle ride with the wonderful scenery.
Hi from Alberta, Canada. Just loved your entire video, the bike ride, local sights, weather, shower with a hose😅, all of it. I love watching and dreaming. It makes one wonder if we should sell and move in retirement. It is inspiring to watch. Thanks for sharing it all.
Hi @pinknosechronicles . Maybe we should? Who knows if this prep for retirement is right or wrong. Time will tell. I think if you have a blue sky for most of the time then anywhere can be good.😊
It is amazing how different a road feels when you cycle or walk. In a car you never can get a proper take on the area at all. I drove the same road for years and I couldn't believe how different it was cycling.👍
Get yourself some permanent rat bait stations and bait continuously around your building perimeters. They will not, repeat not, go away on their own. (UK Pest Control Cert holder).
There was me thinking that the snake did me that favour! Those drains were not great and the mess must have been a magnet for them (?). Trust me when I say I am keeping a keen eye on the situation! Thanks for the tips. I do appreciate it. 👍
I have always found that when trenching to get rid of water, using a hoe is the fastest way. Bare foot also helps as you have found out. All in all,a beautiful property 😊
Thank you @marcerivest6204 - I think I will invest in one for the channels that reshape themselves mid storm. I think that is what caused this problem - one of the channels up the field collapsed and the route it found for itself came towards the house. It was one might rain storm though - it looked quite tame on the footage when I watched it back!😂
To control erosion you will want to leave ground litter on hillsides like at 33:00. Even supplement it with the litter from flat areas. It will also help your permanent groundcover seedlings establish.
Thanks @cratecruncher4974 That bank will be taken out when I get to the landscaping part of the plan. Once a flat area is set up I can seed and mow large parts. Plenty of planting and seeding to come. I am looking forward to that part.👍
I am so glad somebody told me the name of the bird signing - thank you @madeleinevowles7229 Do you know the names of the others you can hear? These are all natural sounds, by the way. I have bought some better kit and hope to get some lovely natural sounds captured.🙌
The best spot for a nice aperitivo before dinner at 43:05 in your video. You sit on the stairs with a great glass of wine with an AMAZING view down the stairs and over The Marche landscape. Please stop by there soon. Corinaldo is such a beautiful village, would love to go back there! We enjoy the content, keep it up!
Hi @jordkeijzer9346 . It is lovely. That bar on the corner is such a great place to hang around. I love the way they serve your wine with a snack on a little tray and give you a little pillow to sit on. One glass is never enough!😁

Hi @loisperkins9835 . A place on my list to go back to. I have visited North Island but did not get the chance to see the South Island. It has been on my list to go back ever since sitting in the departure lounge in Auckland. 😊
Great video Richard. I can see why you chose that area to live. It has everything. You’re going to have an amazing life when you move there permanently. Oh, and get some wellies for when you have to bail out after the next rainstorm so you don’t have to move mud in bare feet 😂
Some great positives, the storm showing where more drainage is needed and more land clearing. Hopefully the newly submitted plan is accepted as it requires few cif any real changes other than a few windows. The nearby town is absolutely stunning and the beach is a plus.
I lived in Cyprus for 9 years and we had the same issue with the snails especially after it had been damp over night. Also while I lived there Leroy Merlin came onto the island and it was a game changer for price and the stuff they stocked.
Don't be discouraged by negative comments, you're doing really well, it's a lot of hard work but will be worth it. Maybe good to meet some of your new neighbours, Italians are often friendly and hospitable.

In the future you need to make this area next to the house wall much higher to stop water coming closet to the wall during rain. Over time you will get dump and wall will be damaged 28:35.
Hi @arekk.29 . I plan to clear it all as far back and tier it whilst saving the large tree on the corner. The drainage in the field must have collapsed in one gully and that turned it all down to the house. Hopefully it was a one off - the plan will be to sort that all this coming spring/ summer.
I enjoy watching you, got same dream to buy something. I like Italy but there is to much red tape, Spain is my second option. I keep fingers crossed for you🤞
What an adventure! Great to see you get out and about on your bike and explore the surrounding areas. Sorry you have had to deal with all issues with the doodles and permits. What a headache but alas it will all be worth it in the end because you found yourself a gem of a property and a perfect place to relax and retire. Cheers! 🍷
Cheers @mmsmilenow . I wish I knew about the doodle level of permission first! That may have saved me a lot of time. I will frame the doodle when it gets passed. 😂
Looks like some solid Retaining Walls might be necessary, with drain tiles near the bottom of them - drain it off and away. :( Lots of hard work! The seaside is wonderful, love the little town of Corinaldo
I am an American enjoying your videos. I am up to number 6 plus two auxiliary ones. My wife and I are seriously thinking about retiring to Italy. I am a Farruggio with family from Agrigento, Sicily. I may be able to obtain my Italian citizenship which would make things easier. But I don’t speak Italian-yet.
I'm really enjoying your videos - it looks like a beautiful spot in Italy. Hopefully you get the approvals from the town and I'm looking forward to seeing you working on your home. I'm also a cyclist and that area looks fantastic for cycling trips. Cheers, Derek in Ottawa. 👍
The cycling routes from here are amazing and endless. @derekbarlas8092 I can head out in any direction. The rolling landscape was one of the deciding factors verus more lumpy locations.😂
Probably the main reason for no fences is that there doesn't seem to be much livestock there; go to an arable area here in the UK and you'll see fewer fences too.
Hi, In my opinion, A mini digger is your answer to lots of issues with your drainage, land clearing, heavy work etc.. Keep up the great work and with the dream... Hats off to you.. From a cold UK.😊
Fantastic video Richard, really enjoyed it. Christ that rain was biblical! I'd love to know what your job is. It must have something to do with media as the vlogs are brilliant 👍
Hi @cliftonwalk8072 I'd like to but a pick up would not work with my proper job. Maybe the next car or I get one with a tow bar and get a decent trailer.👍
Thanks @brucescott2263 - most of the bank near the house will be coming away to create a space for a large terrace etc. Plenty of frech drains and controlling the flow from higher up the field should sort it.🤞
TH-cam show as your channel and we love everything. We are watching from the lovely “sunny” Sheffield (UK) :))) We would like to do something like that, especially because my mum is living in north of Italy. All the good wine and food 🤤 Good luck with everything and we can’t wait to see the progress. The view is stunning! 🤩
Great videos ! I'm looking forward to follow your journey in Marche! Some of our Italian friends (we used to live in Tuscany) have the following approach to the building permits from the Commune - built first and then pay the fine (multa). But they do it on calculated risks. Or the other route is to join the local community, get to know as many people from the Commune as possible, learn Italian (which always gives your brownie points in Italy no matter how badly you massacre the language :-)) and then build. In bocca lupo either way!
man! best thing you did was build that deck! getting the sunsets and sunshine and the views! u have to keep that forever even if you re-do everything else! hang in there!
Thanks @doreenlynch263 . It may get a new location further up the field where the view is even better. It deseves a better outcome than off cut wood that ends up in a fire. 😎
Love your videos! It's very appealling to have a house abroad. Get away from things. From the UK it's some drive! But if you want a different landscape.... Keep up the good work and thanks for bringing us along!
We love your vids. Keep them authentic in editing and filming. Love the bike rides, and all the home reno adventures. But man, we 😂 when we keep seeing you do yard work in flip flops. We might try it this year. 😂 Keep on going, it’s inspiring us. Thank you. Chow chow.

Enjoyed the tours of the Italian towns. They look very peaceful. And BTW, at least during this storm, you didn't lose the driveway! Buena suerte on the house renovations.
Thank you @jackiemiller5840 . I think that I may try house and an adventure / exploring slot in each video to see how that goes down. PS - I lost the driveway last year but the commune helped solve that problem for me.😅
Good content, we did pretty much the same thing in rural France and the work continues to keep us fit and active. Get rid of those short shovels and treat yourself to long handled ones, your back will be very grateful, in fact don’t buy any garden tools without long handles.
Since I already speak Italian, I have thought many times of moving and doing what you are planning. It’s not like the movie, Under The Tuscan Sun, is it. You have made me think more seriously about making the move.
Yet another brilliant video, made me chuckle with the trainers- I always wear mine even on dog walks 🤦♂️ such a stunning area your in. Very jealous from the current soggy wales I’m in 😅
The video at the start brings back so many memories, I remember the issue of ICI which was a the equivalent of council tax-ish! Where you event presented with a bill or even when you have to pay it. What happens is about two or three years later they hit you with the charges plus a penalty for no paying and when you explain they (the commune) will tell you that you have o log onto a web site and go through a Q&A in Italian when you want to pay it?? Senegal’ın hasn’t changed much, we had a language school there for a couple of years when Burlusconi tried to get all workers proficient in English we also taught the Italian Police academy with all the baby police, a great bunch they sang my favourite opera song Caruso as a course completion party, your gaff looks positively pristine, ours after six months away you could barely see the doors and would take at least 3 days hard strumming to get about 2 metres of clearance. Then you could stat gardening oh the joy, lots of mixed memories, the strummer issue was solved when I bought a Stihl with solid sabre blade and stripped back 10 amp mains cable braid. We lived in a little bordo called Isola di Fano near Fossombrone.
Hi @howardcopestake1036 - thank you - lovely to read. Thanks for sharing. The council tax part was sorted day 1 on getting the keys and is all paid online now. No issue with bills and that side of life here. Thanks again.😊👍
Well i think by the comments it shows what a great video this was. Only just found you, loved every minute. Keep on going, keep smiling. Love from Spain ❤
HI @purplewombat1923 . I get some help from the neighbour (in a few videos on from this one) who fixes the drains that collapsed and caused this problem.👍
Great work! Maybe while you're back in the UK put together the drawings and renderings of the finished project. You can then break up the tasks and deciding what you need help with. It will help you focus on getting the work done when you're there. It will be a reall great place to hang out with friends and family.
Hi @stefanomastropietro9040 . Good idea. Now that the permissions are cleared up and I can start work on the house...I have a plan of sorts. Inside should start to flow and keep me busy while outside can take shape once the next crop is complete. (the next video or two cover this)
I am loving having found your channel - new subscriber. You are living my dream. Mine in a few years hopefully. Nice I have lots of videos to catch-up on. Very cool to see progress on your house and how you tackle things. Thanks for sharing your ride with us 🙏
Hi @DADtheGAMER101 . I am on the 90 day / 180 day visa so have not gone deep into the options yet. As I spend more time there and will inevitably need to look at residency, I will share that journey also.👍
I've done some nasty renovations, get a Wet Vac, suck up the webs, then use bug spray down the hose while it's going, nothing survived that!! After your ride and after working, you can see why farms have bathrooms outside.
That is a great tip - thank you @OnTheFlipSide I think I would use the outside shower 90% of the time - a decent one will be part of the plans for sure.👍

If you cycle like that, it's no wonder you're in suck good nick! 😊
Peter South Africa from .I am sure this place going to look stunning once its finished , like to watch your progress
Thank you @user-ey4ss1fq3t . It may take some time but I think it will be worth it.
great film mate. cheers for the ride along
Forgot to mention I just subscribed 😊
Thank you🙌
Looks like some solid Retaining Walls might be necessary, with drain tiles near the bottom of them - drain it off and away.
Hi @michaelfarruggio6823 that sounds like a good plan. Good luck with learning the language.👍
Hope the doodles get approved. Keep it up, it's going to be very much worth it :)
The doodle process seems to be working...🤞
Probably the main reason for no fences is that there doesn't seem to be much livestock there; go to an arable area here in the UK and you'll see fewer fences too.
I think you are right @ginojaco . I don't see any livestock in this region when driving around.
You are making this one of my favorites. Keep up you are on the right path.
Thank you @suzanneeichman9576 - glad you like it.
Hi, In my opinion, A mini digger is your answer to lots of issues with your drainage, land clearing, heavy work etc..
Keep up the great work and with the dream...
Hats off to you..
From a cold UK.😊
Thanks @bilberrycom . A mini digger does seem to be the sensible first big purchase. A walk behind trench digger also.👍
Rent them.
But buy a brush hog or cutter as it will morph into your periodic lawn mower duty to keep snakes far, far away.
And a knapsack sprayer…
Fantastic video Richard, really enjoyed it. Christ that rain was biblical! I'd love to know what your job is. It must have something to do with media as the vlogs are brilliant 👍
Thank you @jimgott2405 . I work in boring accountancy software.....very drab. I am enjoying the editing but WOW what a sharp learning curve it is!👍
Love it, “Doodle submitted!”
Did you drive by bicycle from Senigallia to Corinaldo ?!! 😱😱😱 Ant way a stay near to Corinaldo 😁
Luckily there is only one large hill to cycle up on the way back, The way to the beach is almost all down hill!😂
Fantastic videos mate. Thanks for sharing. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you for wathching and saying hello @ThePittStreetFarmers🙌
my Villa in Puglia is always covered with snails once the weather warms
so odd that they sit high on the wall and then don't move for weeks.
Nice, spontaneous videos mate. If I were in your shoes I'd swapped the Audi for a good pickup 👍
Hi @cliftonwalk8072 I'd like to but a pick up would not work with my proper job. Maybe the next car or I get one with a tow bar and get a decent trailer.👍
@@threeacresofmarche Understand 👍 Thanks for the replay. All the best
Grazie perché mi hai fatto tanto ridere con quella rete in testa! 😂😂😂😂
😁🙌
Hi Richard, Good job telling the story. That is a beautiful bike ride. I didn't see the thumbs up symbol to give you one.
Hi @thomasbrynwood8592 . That's ok - thanks for watching.🙌
You need to retain the embankments and concrete around the house walls, all to deflect the runoff from affecting the house foundations.
Thanks @brucescott2263 - most of the bank near the house will be coming away to create a space for a large terrace etc. Plenty of frech drains and controlling the flow from higher up the field should sort it.🤞
TH-cam show as your channel and we love everything. We are watching from the lovely “sunny” Sheffield (UK) :)))
We would like to do something like that, especially because my mum is living in north of Italy.
All the good wine and food 🤤
Good luck with everything and we can’t wait to see the progress.
The view is stunning! 🤩
Thank you @oanadiana3790🙌 The food and wine are a bit special!
Thanks for sharing your journey ... 👍
Thank you for watching @nanoresmith2697 .
I agree but think the 'fine and risk' may be different for non Italians...😂
@@threeacresofmarche True true. It's a whole different mindset 🤣
man! best thing you did was build that deck! getting the sunsets and sunshine and the views! u have to keep that forever even if you re-do everything else! hang in there!
You will have to dig something similar to a moat around you property to divert the run-off from the hill around you and a cinder block wall.😊
Hi @judiehavard4903 . A simple trench dug by a tractor is sufficient - I get some help from a neighbour to fix the ones that collapsed in this storm.👍
We love your vids. Keep them authentic in editing and filming. Love the bike rides, and all the home reno adventures. But man, we 😂 when we keep seeing you do yard work in flip flops. We might try it this year. 😂 Keep on going, it’s inspiring us. Thank you. Chow chow.
Hi @abroadbaker . Spring through to autumn is lovely. The odd few weeks in summer can get too hot, but I am not complaining! Go for it!😎
Prosedür bu kadar zor olmamalı Türkiye de daha kolay ve daha ucuz inşaat işleri ve çok güvenilir firmalar var 50,000 avro çok fazla 😮 başarılar diliyorum 👋
Hi @Paddyandpoppy . Thank you for the tip. Funny you should say that - a recent investment of new tools all had long handles.🙌
Since I already speak Italian, I have thought many times of moving and doing what you are planning. It’s not like the movie, Under The Tuscan Sun, is it. You have made me think more seriously about making the move.
Go for it @davidbiddle3257 . Somebody else metioned that movie...I need to watch it. Either way - Italy is as good as it looks in the movies.
The Bicycle ride is everything!
Ciao Richard 😊✨💫
Hi @stephieubanks . Cycling around this region is pretty special.
Another great episode. I am sure you are exhausted, but I find it all very relaxing to watch. Fingers crossed for the doodles.
Thanks @patriciadewit - I find it relaxing but when it comes to the edit you realise how long each little job takes.😂
Yet another brilliant video, made me chuckle with the trainers- I always wear mine even on dog walks 🤦♂️ such a stunning area your in. Very jealous from the current soggy wales I’m in 😅
Thanks @timbogriffiths . Wellies seem to get vacuum packed when the mud is like that! Bare foot worked a treat.😂
@@threeacresofmarche at least you got a foot mud bath so I’m sure your feet will be reconditioned lol
People might pay for that! side hustle.🤷♂️
@@threeacresofmarche pay for the renovations 😂
Thank you @patriciapadgett4696 . Nice to have you here.
I may be far but has travelled to the countryside of Italy with your videos. Raw but informative.
Thank you @rebonfamilbaguio3736 . Raw and unfiltered to give as true a picture as I can is the plan.👍
It’s big place nice clean
You don’t have any pot holes there
Another enjoyable video :-D Looks like you could do with a French drain around your house to deal with the water run-off.
HI @purplewombat1923 . I get some help from the neighbour (in a few videos on from this one) who fixes the drains that collapsed and caused this problem.👍
G
Hello from South Carolina USA. Love your videos.😊
Hi @user-lt3rq3jy7x👍
Wow! You ride pretty fast.
Thanks for sharing your ride with us 🙏
Thanks for watching @KellyDuckworth-sx9ci . There will be another one up later this morning if you are up for a bingeathon!😂🙌
HI, good to see progress. On minor suggestion - perhaps put the date with the titles as I'm guessing this is from summer 2023 rather than now(Feb 24).
Hi @frigbychilwether I will catch up soon enough and it will all make (more) sense. You are correct - June 2023.
Great video! Would be good to get a video on visas for Italy and how they work 😊
Hi @DADtheGAMER101 . I am on the 90 day / 180 day visa so have not gone deep into the options yet. As I spend more time there and will inevitably need to look at residency, I will share that journey also.👍
@@threeacresofmarche thank you 😊
I've done some nasty renovations, get a Wet Vac, suck up the webs, then use bug spray down the hose while it's going, nothing survived that!! After your ride and after working, you can see why farms have bathrooms outside.
That is a great tip - thank you @OnTheFlipSide
I think I would use the outside shower 90% of the time - a decent one will be part of the plans for sure.👍
