I came across this video after my drive-side crank arm fell off. I bought the bike last year brand new and hadn't received any calls or emails about a recall. Thankfully it wasn't while riding but I came home when I noticed it was wobbling and loose. I've had a number of FSA parts break now including 2 cranksets, 2 bottom brackets and 2 freehubs on 2 separate bikes that came with FSA parts. I will avoid buying anything FSA makes.

SQL Labs video on the different between the 612 and 612R shows that the latter is for a more aggressive race position and has a longer cut-out section because of it. Hence, before buying either saddle, make sure one reads the documentation on the SQLab web site and pick a saddle appropriate for your primary riding position. This exposure can lead to contamination of the bearing on the non-drive side, accelerating wear. Frame Flex and Misalignment: If the bottom bracket shell is not perfectly aligned or if the frame flexes under load, it can cause the non-drive side bearing to experience more stress, leading to premature failure. It's a combination of uneven forces, exposure to the elements, and possible frame flex or misalignment typically leads to the non-drive side bearing wearing out faster on mountain bikes.

My insurance told me back at the beginning of COVID, that I would need another policy just for the ebikes. It's interesting to hear all the differences here. I'm in Maine, but am very rural for sure, and another one person shop. Glad that you found someone else with so many similarities!!

Since you’re in Pittsburgh I’d love to see a video of you riding up Canton Avenue. It’s the steepest street in North America. It’s pretty short but has a 37% grade on COBBLESTONES. There are a lot of TH-cam videos about this street with cyclists struggling to make it to the top .

If you have a chance, you should try some of the Dirty Dozen hills in Pgh. Check out Logan on Troy Hill or Suffolk on observatory hill. Both are across the Allegheny river. I bet there is a map online. I did the ride three times when it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving years ago. So excited seeing your journeys! That was crazy you met somebody on your carrier! Such a small world!

My Go Pro camera attachment is on the stem top cap as that is the best placement since it works for phones, cameras, gps and they sit further back so it’s easier to see. I take my chest cam go pro mount and this way can get front and chest level angles without even getting off the bike.

WRONG !!! DuRA ACE 9200 RIM is very much available … at least in Canada it is. LA Biccletta Toronto Shimano DURA ACE Di2 R9200 Groupset RIM, $5050.00 CDN ( my daughter put same on her COLNAGO V3RS) and it’s SILENT … on her DOGMA F, she has DURA ACE Di2 DISC and she wished she bought the RIM version of that DOGMA frame … I ride both the Pinarello DOGMA F & X and I’m always getting SPRAYED by diesel trucks here in Central America on my ride and my brakes discs are 😊CONSTANTLY SQUEALING … it’s fucking HORRIBLE!!!!!! I have a whole drawer full of PADS, clean and sand my discs down, replace them, it’s NON FUCKING STOP to try to get away from the noise !!!! RIM is as good as TUBES COMPARED TO IDIOTIC TUBELESS …. (Don’t get me started !!!!!)

While this new Colnago is nice, I don’t care too much for modern rim brake bikes (2020+). I much rather have a bike with disc brakes, outside of vintage steel bikes because they are the bees knees. Nevertheless, I’d outfit the C68 with one of the lightest compatible options and go hunting for SRAM red etap 11 speed groupset. There’s plenty of Shimano HG freehub’d wheelsets to go around in the new and used market, so that won’t be an issue. Likely go for some Dura-Ace or Ultegra brakes tho.

Wanted to update my situation. Received the 612 yesterday after returning the 612R. It is everything you said it was. The most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden. I was amazed that I felt zero pressure points and on the 46 mile ride I just did I had no need to even move around to relieve any discomfort. It was brilliant. My 4.5 year search seems to be over. I am so glad I gave the 612 a try. You were spot on with this video. BTW, the one I received has a black emblem on the seat compared to blue and the material is more like the 612R which is fine for me.

Still happily married to my SIDI Genius shoes after 9 years :) The only servicing they've ever needed was to replace the heel caps... that's it! Hard to beat well ventilated and supple leather uppers matched with a stiff sole, all in a handmade shoe. Frankly, I wish all shoes (including non-cycling specific shoes) felt as good as these.

Looking forward to the build video. Lot's of parts. Does the bike come with a bag? What did the airline charge for the bike per bag?

Curious on how well a TSA agent would get it back in the case once they poke around? The zip ties are a nice trick to assist the parts orientation and putting back in order. I use a soft case and have had great success traveling with both mine and wife’s bike. Those being disc do complicate the packing a bit more given the fork needs to be removed.

That is a lot of work ahead of you George and Jessica, wheww! 🥵 My style is to travel in a vehicle that allows the bicycle to remain assembled, out of sight and protected from the weather.

Can you please show a close up of how you skewered the cassette between the dropouts for packing? I hadn't thought of that when packing my Break-Away. How do you keep it from rattling around?
