Vlog 148, Narrowboat Cruise - Braunston Tunnel and onto the Grand Union
Hello Everyone, In this episode we leave Braunston after a challenging cruise through the tunnel and head to the Grand Union Canal. Thank you to everyone who have continued watching us since we started cruising as we know this was just supposed to be a build channel. We are losing lots of subscribers daily and our views are right down. All that indicates to us is that we are getting on peoples nerves 🤣🤣🤣. We have decided to continue using the footage we have taken this year while cruising, and some of the extra bits from the build not yet shown, and once all that footage has finished we are going to call it a day. We will let you know more as it gets nearer 👍

Hello Everyone, Well it's been a long time coming but we have finally put together a vlog this week. We have had a great time this summer cruising Wanderlust and have just a few more weeks before we go into a marina for a winter mooring. We still have some footage of the boat build and plenty of footage from our cruising this year. You will get to see this over the winter as we sift through the...

VLOG 138, Narrowboat Fit Out - 2nd go at name painting
มุมมอง 9275 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello Everyone. In this weeks episode we paint the name, number and place on the port side. You may have watched sometime at the end of last year a short clip of us painting the name on the starboard side. We didn't film much of that as we were concentrating on trying to get it right and not all of it went on as easily as we thought it would. Learning from our mistakes the port side went on muc...

If you are calling a day on your vlogs I for one will be totally guttered. You both got me through the worst illness of my life and I’ve even started a re-run from the beginning as I may take the leap myself now I’ve retired. Thank you both so much best wishes. 🙁😫🙁
You need some decent lights on that boat.
Tunnels are stressful even when there aren't any boats coming the other way. Sorry to hear you're going to call it a day with the vlogs but I understand completely. Hopefully we'll meet one day. Take care both 😊
Well I certainly haven't got bored. Enjoyed all of your filming. If you get o Rickmansworth you wont be far away from Stuart. Have fond memories of Braunston. Stuart's junior school had a trip there, there is a Canal Museum. Getting back to Rickmansworth, every year there is a huge narrow boat festival, not sure why time of year it is. Anyway have fun Jean x
Loved the music.
Is that tunnel what bumper boats was supposed to train us for? 😊 Did it well. Thank you for the video.
Great update one hell of a long tunnel under your belt. While sailing along you must be thinking all that hardworking is now paying off. By the way as am from the same background as grandad I understood ever mutter coming through the tunnel when bouncing of the wall 😂😂😂.
Was that Eric Sykes coming out of the lock
I have watched every one of your build blogs and added comments, they have inspired me on my restoration of my 1979 boat, now I am loving seeing you on the water, fingers crossed for me next year.
Remember Braunston. Took Stuart's class back in the day to see the Canal Museum. Beautiful scenery and the weather looked OK. Spoke to Mum and she said you had been to see her We had a good laugh, as always jean x
Cheers Jean, it is a great canal town. Yes very easy to get to Mums from here. She will be glad when we move off 🤣🤣🤣
It must be great living off of the fruits of your labour, the hard work was well worth it wasn't it? Suprised that you're allowed to register two boats with the same name. Stopping for that swing bridge you could moored alongside any of those other boats for one of you to have got off.
Definitely worth it, We are loving it. Yes there are so many boats with the same name. 👍
We turned right at Braunston, nice stretch of canal. Take care both 👍
Yes we would like to spend a bit more time there when we go back that way. Perhaps when it isn't so busy 👍
Thanks for the update. So relaxing just gliding along the cut
Cheers John 👍
This is what makes all the hard work that you put into her worthwhile. She a credit to the forman in charge of the project!
Cheers 👍hahaha yes she is 👍
Brilliant. Really enjoy these trips 👏👏👏👏boat engine sounds beautiful, so smooth and reacts when you need it to (or so it seems in your videos 😂😂)
Cheers 👍 So far we are really pleased with the engine. We have had no problems at all🤞.
❤❤
👍👍
Another great video Jean x
❤❤❤
Nicely done, I had to do a 180 at Hawkesbury on a hire boat a few years ago, it's a bit worrying with a pub full of people watching. I was expecting them to hold up score cards. Take care 👍
Cheers 👍. hahaha it is really off putting sometimes. My first River lock I took the boat in while Ady done the gates. A group of walkers stopped and watched then clapped when I didn't mess it up. I was sweating a bit 🤣. Grandads a natural 👍
What a crew, well done Millie and Reggie.Looks lovely and a very relaxing journey😊
Cheers Carole, The kids loved it 😍
Fantastic journey thanks for taking us with you.
Cheers John 👍
they seem to be growing like weeds. Before you know it they'll be grown. My youngest grand turned 24 in October.
Yes growing up far to quick for our liking. It is why we have kept the you tube videos going. We want to save as many memories of them growing up for us to look back on. In a blink of an eye they will also be 24. Thank You for watching 👍
More adventures all having a good time no doubt. Always look forward to another episode
Cheers Jean, We all had a great school holidays but was a little tired at the end hahaha 👍
I would suggest removing the spray attachment from the house. The pressure would be less and the flow better. Should give much reduced time at the water points
Good call 👍
Lovely to see the grandchildren, aren't they growing up quickly? I thought that you were looking for a bin to get rid of Grandad now that his contraption isn't working!
Cheers Tony, Yes they are growing to fast. Yep Grandad needs to get a new contraption 🤣
Another good day out. I'll be putting mine away for the winter soon. Take care all 👍
Cheers George, Yes we are now in our winter mooring. Roll on spring 👍
great vlog - lovely to see the children helping out, and safely in their lifejackets - you can never be too careful - once we have completed the fit out on our narrowboat Tatton we will invest in one for our doggie - loving following your adventures
Cheers you two, Hopefully they can do it all in a few years while we relax 👍
Tell the truth nana did granddad break all them windows with reggies catapult ?? ❤❤❤ Another great vlog cheers xxx
Reggie loved that building and done lots of drawings of it . Grandad spent his time working out how many windows would have to be replaced 🤣
From Texas, thank you for the adventure.
Cheers Mark 👍Texas eh, Glad to have you with us 👍
Enjoyed that clip what great fun you must be having and beautiful countryside Jean x
Thankyou Jean, It has been beautiful. It is quite amazing seeing different towns from the canal rather than the road. Very different. Glad you are still enjoying the vlogs 👍
Nice and peaceful cruise. How where the pubs?
Cheers Dom, Yes both pubs went down well 🤣 👍
When was this filmed as I’m there
It was the end of July. Great little stop. Enjoy 👍
You picked a good place to stop. Don't know which way you are heading but I can recommend the soul nights at Whitchurch. Next one is the 29th Nov. Take care both✊
Cheers George 👍 We will remember that one when we are around there
Fantastic cruise through some beautiful countryside thanks for taking us along and what a location to finally stop at………a pub on port and starboard side 🍻🍹
Cheers John 👍
More stunning scenery and very narrow locks, did I hear a few knocks?! I had relations that lived in Alrewas, don't think that your pronouncing it right. It's Alr at the beginning not Arl, my relatives always pronounced it Allrewas. Please change the new introduction.
Thankyou, Yes there is always a few knocks. Yes someone told me to pronounce it Ol-rewas. Its a word to practice. Sorry you don't like the introduction. We think it's a bit of fun and the kids love it 👍
@@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandgEach to his own, it's your choice.
Please could the title be changed to use the correct name of the memorial?
Sorry Martin I hadn't realised I had it wrong. We have been away this week so I will change it now 👍
Another place to put on my bucket list for travels to the UK. As a veteran myself it was quite moving.
@@LeslieMatheson don't need any more foreigners in the UK anymore too many coming in boats from europe
It is a very moving place to visit but a special place too. We will be definitely going back 👍
Grandad looked like a frog catching flies with his tongue! 🤣🤣 Great vlog good to see you enjoying the boat.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍 hahaha Yes he said he is going to super glue his mouth shut next time 🤣. We have loved the cruising this year and hoping we get a longer summer next year👍
Great video. We haven't been on the Trent and Mersey, other than winding at Middlewich. Hoping to do the four counties ring next summer. Take care both.😊
Cheers George, We really enjoyed this canal and we have learnt a lot while cruising it. We have enjoyed everywhere this year and think we might head to Wales for next winter 👍
Great vlog lovely to see you cruising im surprised after all the hard work you haven't got milly on the tiller and reggie doing the locks whilst granddad massages nanas feet whilst sipping a large g&t on the bow !❤❤❤❤
Thankyou, Don't worry, the grandkids will be joining us soon. I still can't get them to massage my feet though 🤣
@@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandgthat's granddads job
@@ajw1467 Too right 👍
I’ve just come off the Trent after two weeks of hell stuck in flood’s 😅
Scary stuff! Last year we were one of the last boats through the gates at Beeston before the floods started and it was quite frightening to see how quick the river changed. Glad to hear you made it off. 👍
Wow what a fantastic end to a really enjoyable update. Not sure grandad likes the single width locks but am sure he will get use to them. Thanks for keeping us updated.
Cheers John, It is a special place to visit. The narrow locks are fine, it's the narrow bridges as you enter some of the locks that still make us twitch a bit lol. 👍
Congratulations 🎉 I’ve been binge watching your channel for a few weeks and although still a little bit behind I had to say something! Thoroughly enjoying the channel, well done so far. ❤
Cheers for that we really appreciate it and great to have you aboard👍
Still enjoying the ride no doubt. Beautiful places you have visited. Jean x
Cheers Jean, We certainly are 👍
Great to see you crusing, it makes all that hard work worthwhile doesn't it? Nice to see the repair work being done. Lovely bit of reversing, oh for a bow thruster! Does the Bass musiem give away free samples, and did Grandad glean any useful information from those local lads?! By the way I don't like the new intro, sorry.
Cheers 👍 Yes we saw lots of work being done on this stretch of Canal. Grandads got the reversing off to a tee. Not sure the local lads taught us anything useful but they kept us entertained for a few hours lol
Nice bit of reversing there Grandad, well impressed 👍😅
He's an expert now George, or so he keeps telling me 🤣
Grandad we salute your reversing skills 👏👏. Having watched your vlogs since day one we decided to hire a day boat on the canal……what a fantastic day we and the whole family had. Really am thinking about investing in a sale away and starting down the nanna and grandad route but this time it will be with Annie and Louis our grand children 🤞p.s just starting to rewatch your journey from the beginning to build up my confidence.
Thats fantastic to hear. It is very humbling to know that through watching our vlogs you have got something out of it. If you do take the plunge the Grandkids are going to love it 👍
💙👊😎💙👊😎
Cheers 👍
Nanny you need to stop grandad eating baked beans will help with the wind noise reggie and milly will thank you !!!❤❤❤
hahaha Exactly!
Sorry you had the wind Nanny ❤
Standard! 🤣
Love the chrome outlets on the boat we need to find them for ours
Cheers 👍 There is some lovely stuff out there. So much to choose from. Good luck with yours👍
