  • Hello Everyone, Sorry it's a little late but here is this weeks episode. We start going through our list of jobs and the huge amount of stuff we still need to buy. With just over a week til launch we try and get lots of the finishing touches done to the outside. This will be the last vlog until launch but we will be back soon after showing the rest of the build.👍

    Watched you from the start, and what a fabulous job you have done. The soft shackle on the centre line is a great idea. I have made and used them for years on a racing dinghy, and the Dyneema is super strong/ stronger than your rope and kinder to paint. Good luck with launch day!

      Cheers and thankyou for watching from the start (that is a lot of hours 😂). Yes the soft shackle is a fantastic idea👍.

    Your home/boat is beautiful I can only imagine how proud you must feel about the work you’ve put into it. Looking forward to see the adventures on the water. The grandkids looked cute helping with painting. I thought Reggie looked more like a pirate? I bet they can’t wait for their 1st trip. I was lost with the rope wondering if a multi color rope might be easier to practice with? Fingers crossed all goes well with the move. Already looking forward to the next video. Susan

      Thankyou Susan, Yes we do feel proud of what we have achieved and we think she has turned out beautiful . The Grandkids have been asking us for weeks now when are we going in the water. Unfortunately they will be at school for the launch but will hopefully join us for a couple of hours as soon as they finish for the day. Yes we mastered the rope splicing now. Looking forward to showing you all the launch🙂

    Brilliant Vlog and as an ex Sea Cadet and Adult Instructor, I know at first hand the challenges when you start to learn splicing (the back splice is so much easier than the eye splice!). You have done a great job and once you get into it you find actually it is not so hard and almost therapeutic!!! Really looking forward to you being afloat and getting the feedback of how you settle into it. Have a brilliant week and an excellent launch.

      Cheers Gary, We have been going for it this week. As soon as we sit down at the end of the day the ropes come out and splicing commences 😂. We are now splicing everything😂. Yes we are now looking forward to the launch (a bit scared to) 👍

    Guys am sitting in a hospital bed having had a major operation on Sunday. When I explained to the nurse I wanted to watch your las test update she told me she was also a follower and she advised me not to watch your latest vlog as I wasn’t allowed to laugh. So we agreed I would be in a position to catch up on Friday hence my latest comment. She was right I did laugh and felt so much better afterwards. Many thanks from myself, my wife and my family 👏👏👏👏👏

      Oh wow, We hope the op all went well for you and you are on your way to recovery. Hey and what are the chances of finding a nurse that also follows us. Think you should buy a lottery ticket. hahahaha lets hope we didn't make you laugh too much. The launch vlog sure tested our hearts so make sure you are up to it before watching. Keep strong 👍

      Doctors also said I should not get upset. Don’t mind saying I sobbed like a baby all the way through your launch. What a proud moment for you both and your small crew members who helped when they could. Boat looked and sounded absolutely perfect. She sat just right in the water. Weld one 👏👏👏👏👏👏

    Re the debate about pinning the gangplank to the bank. Don't do it, If its fixed bank end and the boat moves away for any reason you'll lose it and it could be very difficult to retrieve, I know this from experience. If it's fixed the other end it stays with the boat.

  • @mike-reck
    @mike-reck ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Ady! re your gangplank, it might be a good idea to drill a hole in on end so you can hammer a mooring pin especially when wild mooring as the bank may very uneven👍👍

    • @tonycamplin8607
      @tonycamplin8607 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you want the gangplank to move so that it can slide when a passing boat causes excessive wash.

    • @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg
      @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Mike, Yes we have just watched Danni and Joe's channel and saw they had put a hole in theirs to pin it down. We wasn't sure if that was a great idea or would it cause problems when the boat moved or for us it would definitely become a trip hazard 😂. We will keep it in mind and give it a go if we think we need it 👍

    • @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg
      @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was one of our thoughts. We can see the benefits of it too but will see how we go without it but keep it in mind 👍

  • @tonycamplin8607
    @tonycamplin8607 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A really fantastic achievement that I've watched from the start. Grandad's got quite good at it all hasn't he. One comment what's your reason for using blacking and not two pack epoxy on the hull? Bu the way those stripes on the pole are blue not green!! Nice pair of bumpers Granny!
    Good luck for the big day, all your efforts will then come to fruition and you can draw those curtains.

    • @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg
      @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Tony, well done for sticking with us for so long 😂. We used bitumen mainly for cost. When we had the shell built we could not afford to have the 2 pac done so just blacked it and it has now had about 8 coats since the shell build. Our plan is that when we next have to come out of the water to re black we will be in a better position to pay for it to be grit blasted and then we can 2 pack it ourselves. Probably the light but there are blue, green, duck egg and black stripes on it once finished, we just painted the blue as the colour all over first👍

    • @tonycamplin8607
      @tonycamplin8607 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg That makes sense. The trouble with twopacking yourself is that you have to do it really quickly before it goes "off".

So we have a month of practicing before mooring up for the winter. Yes looking forward to meeting you 2 👍
