Congratulations on your announced launch date; what an accomplishment! The cabinet fronts are as ever awesome 😀 It's really great to see your finished previous projects make cameos in your latest videos! I wish you lots of great times and many of those peaceful moments on Wanderlust, just like you showed at the end of this video! Thank you so much! Tom
Cheers Tom, Yes we are looking forward to the day we can put together a video running through the whole build from start to finish and yes we are definitely looking forward to the peaceful moments. Not long to go 🤞👍
You two have done amazingly on getting the boat done, can be so stressful working with the owner of the cleaning cupboard 😅 🤐 Attaching the drawer fronts… there are a few ways… Work from the bottom up with the above drawer removed that works well and is good for access. Or, put the fixing screws through from inside with the tips protruding the drawer box, once you are happy with the position give the face a whack and you’ll have your marks. Or Same but drill through the handles from the face with them attached on your double sided tape, use the handle screws to locate. Tight drill holes needed. You may need longer screws for your handles to go through the face & the drawer box of course! So looking forward to seeing you on the water!
hahaha cheers Martyn, You are not wrong 🤐. Thankyou for them tips, we will keep them in mind as we do them 👍. Once we get the handles we will give it a go 👍
Got to be honest nana & grandad your jigs do amaze me they are class act and your draw fronts look top quality. I will be saddened to see you launch as I know it’s coming to an end. What an amazing journey so far. Keep smiling.
Cheers John, hahaha yes we even laugh at how many jigs and templates we have made through this build. Glad you have enjoyed watching, I think we will miss building her once we have had a rest. May be another one eh? 🤣🤣🤣
So just a few more weeks to go, its been a long journey, that I've enjoyed watching right from the start. A really splendid effort from you both. It must have taken a lot of nerve to cut that big panel and a lot of skill to cut those peg holes without using a jig. Grandad's learning isn't he! I hope that you're going to leave those lovely fronts natural wood, knowing you though maybe not, you'll probably paint them blue with diamonds on. You must be really pleased with how it all looks. When it's finished you'll be able to draw those curtains and..........!
Thankyou Tony, All you watching from the beginning has been the reason we kept going with the youtube vlogs. Many times through this journey we have thought about giving them up as they took far too much of our time. So thankyou for that as we nnow have them all to watch back and a record of what we achieved 👍. Sorry we will be painting the doors but no diamonds this time 😂. Yes drawing the curtains is getting closer 😂😂😂
hi granddad dynamic dave just and pointer on setting up draw fronts if you start from the underside of the work top with a spacer of your choys and when you are happy with its placement use hot melt glue just a little to hold it in place after fitting all the fronts then open the draw and screw them in from the inside of the draw hope this helps and good luck on your launch and hope to see you out there and thanks for a grate boat build granny
hay dynamic Dave good to hear from you. Yes good idea about the glue gun. We were trying to get away from glue so we can take the fronts off if we ever needed to adjust, re-paint or change them but a couple of blobs from the glue gun should hold them until we get the screws in without it being too much of a problem to get off again (if we ever need to). Yep looking forward to having a pint with you all one day and sitting down and binge watching all of your channel. 👍Good luck with yours and see you soon 👍
Great news on the splash down date. The fronts look amazing looking forward to the paint. Not sure what the correct name is but will you be making your own plank or board for getting on and off the boat canal side when needed? Can imagine the beautiful design you would do. Saw another youtube channel was at your marina Ben and Emily a bit ago did you get to meet and talk details for their new project? What a shame the nomadic crowbot wasn’t in the same marina as you two with all the bad luck and issues they have had they could learn so much for the two of you and would be nice having folks that know how to do the job correctly to ask questions. Love their spirit and go get attitude on trying most anything. Know the grandkids must be so excited to start the journey bet they will want a sick day from school to go along with you. Fingers crossed for good weather on launch day and the 1st cruise. Susan
Cheers Susan, yes we are pleased we have a date now. You should see us doing the gang plank and pole in the next vlog i think, if we get them finished before editing day, if not the week after. Yes Ben and Emily have just left. We have all been too busy to see each other but Grandad had a chat with Emily when they were first here. Yes We are sure we would get on with the Crowbots and yes it would of been great if they were here too. yes we are all excited for the launch now 👍
Those doors look amazing! They look like they were shop bought. As I said in the past, this is a go to channel on how to NOT build a narrowboat! haha! (Only kiddin ) Always look forward to seeing what you build next, seems strange now the build is nearly finnished. But looking forward to seeing you cruise :)
Cheers Flash, hahaha . yes it will be strange for us too not having to think about how me make the next thing on the list. I am sure we will keep finding things we want to make for a while yet 👍
Almost at the end, will you be filming any of your trips, it would be so nice as to see where you get to, though I understand you will have probably filmed so much, you will need a good rest. Jean x
Cheers jean, yes we will film some of our trips and highlights but not every week, just when we think there is something worth showing you. So you will still see what we are up to 👍
Drawer fronts look great. It must be exciting to finally have a date for going in the water. Are you going to be continuous cruisers or leisure? Take care both🙂
Cheers George, Yes knowing we will be in soon is great but it is all panic stations at the moment as there is still a lot of jobs on the list. Yes we are going to be CC's but need to take a winter mooring this year probably from mid November because of some hospital stuff going on at the moment Plus we want a long holiday abroad somewhere lol 👍
How great for you getting a date, how long will that be from start to finish? Are you planning to stay in a Marina for a bit our straight out onto the canal? Have you guys kept a track on material costs so that you can get a comparison on build cost (I appreciate costing in your time would be the biggest cost). I can imagine you are both excited and relieved to be finished. Have a brilliant week how exciting finally truly starting this new exciting adventure living on the water.
Cheers Gary, A long 2 years and 9 months but will still have a few jobs once on the water. This year we are going to take a winter mooring because of some hospital appointments but eventually we will be CC's (early spring we hope). We have 2 huge boxes of receipts that we need to go through to add up final outlay. We will do a vlog on that once we have the time to sort it but if the boat was to be made to sell we wouldn't of done it the way we have. As she is going to be our home for a long time and this was a project we wanted to do together and to see if we could make and build something all ourselves it has taken much longer so our time would add up to a ridiculous amount. yes looking forward to the next adventure 👍
Brilliant that Vlog would be interesting because as you say the time is not important as its yours for ever. Looking forward to many more Vlogs have a great week
Cheers, yes the boat will move we think. We have chosen to risk it with the cupboard fronts as the runners are easily adjusted if there is any movement but we are not fitting the doors into the bathroom and bedroom or the floorboards until we are on the water and the boat has settled. Some of our friends who have already launched had no movement but we are prepared👍
@@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg oh I thought all boats bent a bit when in the water. If you notice it doesnt or does, please lets us all know. With a precise fitout like yours it would be noticeable

Yeah bigger although i don't think you could make it better.

I don’t think you will be allowed to use your boat on the canal as it going to be a show boat and will be too good to use. Haha 😂❤
We have prepared ourselves for a lot scrapes and bashes as soon as we hit that water 😉
the fronts look great. I thought the boat will/may twist and bend when its in the water and trimming is best left till its in the water?
Cheers, yes the boat will move we think.
