The AK and BK Hog Saga Continues, and the Raurimu Spiral
I've had to change my plans for AK and BK's new Hog, as I wouldn't dare get him to sell it to me, after finding out how much his wife loves them in real life.
Plus, since it's winter so there's nothing to do around the farm, I'll take this opportunity to tell you all about an engineering feat called the Raurimu Spiral.
Let me know if you enjoy hearing about it, as I can share about Orakei Korako, also known as The Hidden Valley, the bridge to nowhere, and Rotorua in future videos if the interest is there. Plus, a great tourist money-saving tip, for anyone who wats to come to New Zealand.

Another great video sir its a real testament to either pure genius or pure insanity to build something like that either way it's a thin red line between the two. Well that would have been the first time I would have been on a motorcycle never had interest in them and over the years its become more of a dislike once you chase cattle because the motorcycle scared them and they go thru the fence it turns one liking them even more 😂

Love your story about the train. That's a huge area of fascination for me, particularly the engineering and earth moving that went on back in the day when it was constructed. Also very cool that your brother has a model railroad layout. If you're ever searching for ideas on a video... I'm sure many of us wouldn't mind seeing one of a model train layout. 😄
@@AK-FS Thank you very much, AK. My brother's layout is in Z scale, which is rhe smallest commercially available trains. It means you can fit a lot of tracks on a reasonably sized board.
@@russellwhitlock1942 That's awesome! My father made a small HO scale layout (it fit on a 4x8 sheet of plywood) for us when i was a boy. Unfortunately, we were too young to appreciate model railroading. I have memories of trying to see how fast we could get the engine to go around the tracks without flying off the rails and onto the concrete floor. Needless to say he did not build it out further, and I don't blame him one bit! 😬

Another great video sir very interesting but them roads sound a lot like are roads now some areas have more gravel roads then others but around me there narrow two lane roads and rough as sin and they twist and up and down qnd thats not counting tractors and hores and buggys 😂

Awesome video, Russell - loved it! You had me laughing about the Harley. If only you knew my wife, you'd know that the exact opposite is true about us. 😂 But feeling justly admonished, I feel compelled to part with the Harley so as to settle down with my bride and start a family. 😄 So if you want it, you're welcome to it, at whatever the going rate happens to be. Thanks also for helping me learn some new Kiwi words. Fascinating! 🙂 Oh, and by the way, we have LOTS of gravel roads here in the States also. Lone Oak Farms, for example, is on a gravel road out in the country, and that is one of many such roads. 😉
@@AK-FS Glad you enjoyed it. I must admit that I couldn't really picture you as a Harley rider, but needed a reason for the American vehicles in rural Ireland. Back when I was a teen, I had lots of motorbikes. My favourite was a Yamaha SRX-6, a 600cc single cylinder road bike. To save weight, it had a dry sump, and a kick start only. You had to be confident to kick it over, as it would punish the wary.

That roller outputs a LOT of dust, btw. is that how it always works?
I have a mod downloaded that let's you set the dust scale for each type of equipment separately. I have most equipment set at 200%, or twice the dust as in the vanilla game. It makes it a lot more realistic, but your eyes can start watering as you're working, as your brain is registering all the dust, even though it's not really there. If you set the dust scale for the combines to its highest setting, it looks like the whole thing is on fire, as the dust cloud envelops the whole combine. When my peas have grown, I'll demonstrate, if I remember.
Love your idea of a wikipedia entry on a Farming Sim map! 😂 I haven't heard of anyone trying something like that before. Could do it about a bunch of maps, really. 😉

Thank you very much, PA Plowboy. It just felt to me like the FiatAgri was a bit big for my farm, and made both my Ford's redundant. So I've decided to lease it whenever I need it's power instead.
At work they got 2 Kubota, 2 super C, 2 3020, 6 3010, 1 7520, 1 4000, 1 4230 and a ford 5600. There's always room for one more and they all get used for something 🤣

I love Whangamomona and have ridden my bike through it a couple of times. Calling it a small town is a stretch ... the 1 horse left in the 70's 🤣. I hadn't heard about the cruise shop hub, love it! So many great stories from Whangamomona and the hotel is very cool. Definitely worth stopping for a meal and overnight stay.

Yup. Only works with this one. I think the modern simply overlooked the HP requirements for reversing. They probably assumed no one would try pulling it backwards.
It works when going backwards. Hmm. If that was done in real life, I think all those shanks would be broken off! Or so I've heard. 🙂

great info ty, the ridges are called furrows, cultivator, prepares the fields for seeding, breaks up the dirt, rollers compact the seeds into the ground after planting.
That's great to know, thank you. Although I know that if you also roll before planting, then the status of the field changes to be "seedbed ready", from memory. A teal colour.

Very interesting to watch all this, and to see pallet harvesting in the field. That would mean that someone could make a sod harvesting mod, which is something also harvested to pallets. 😉

@@russellwhitlock1942 I'm not aware of that expression, but I have heard of things being held together with 'baling wire' (or twine) and/or duct tape. I don't recall hearing a number given to the wire, but maybe someone else watching will know. Fascinating how we get our 'expressions.' 😄

It does indeed. The game treats it the same way as a normal harvester gets treated. I'm always more than happy to try things to satisfy curiosity, as I have autosave turned off, so feel free to ask any questions you want. I am planning on recording a very interesting plowing video in a few days (once I've finished harvesting my second field of carrots), as I've made a VERY interesting discovery.

Ya ares is a 674 which is 65 horse it was replaced by the 684 which should be 69 horse and a couple of changes to the design. They are good utility style tractors. Never heard of that brand of cab but if it was European i wouldn't have hinkler and year a round cabs where the aftermarket brands in the states for cabs. Great video sir

Are you able to hire the carrot harvester, or do you have to manually run it in the fields?
The harvester is rented. I just tried hiring a worker to do the harvesting, and it works, but is problematic. I'll make another video to show you, as hard to explain without you seeing what I'm talking about. Gimme an hour or so to get it up online for you.
