Kia and Hyundai has really poor design engineering, inadequately designed electric powertrains where they tend to overheat and fail prematurely. MOBIS 36500-0E710 and Hyundai Gearbox fail on every EV after 60k km and costs 9500 Euro

Model S with BMS_U018 is not our first visitior with same defect. One brick with fast self discharging requires fast respond, and we immediately starter battery pack measurements and decided to go with 1 cell extraction. Cell successfully traced and extracted, and pack successfully restored to original working condition. For purposes to troll diesel fans, we did this repair for 1 euro, no jokes.

What are the parts that are changed besides the fuses? Can the circuit board be removed without soldering?
All power dependable parts, not only fuses. Fuse is never cause of problem. Board must be desoldered

Most of the hybrids are craps… x2 as much BS to break and replace. Honestly I like model s and x because of the batteries can be repaired. Fixing 3 currently at my tesla repair shop. I don’t like the newer tesla batteries that cannot be serviced 🤦♂️

I mean the Chevrolet Volt was certainly a very good car, even if it was a plug-in hybrid. easily one of the most reliable cars made in the last two decades and reliably passed half a million kilometers. How many kilometers you get before battery failure depends on what kind of batteries you put in, if you put LFP batteries rated for 12000 cycles in your hybrid it could easily last decades just as well as an electric car. Completely agree with you though that they're a bad compromise though, a real EV is certainly the better option.
2 systems = 2 x maintenance = 2 errors = 2x costs
hybrids make sense years ago but EVs with LFP batteries just render hybrids as crap.
Depending of hybrids...I had Opel Ampera,2012( Chevy Volt), plug-in , sold it on 250 000 without any problems.

@Stefan_Dahn Why? First gen Chevy Volt from 2011 is very strong. Battery is 16kwh with 10khw usable, the buffer is huge.
Correction: BMW's are crap. After personally owning one, and then owning a Toyota Prius, I can confirm that hybrids can be extremely reliable. It just depends on who's making it.
Exactly. Toyota Prius’ I’ve seen around go up to 600,000kms and are still going 🤣
@@brqdders7623 that is absolute lie. Prius batteries die and needs repair already at 150k km. To get to 600k it must be repaired few times.
@@evclinicI've seen many go at least 300k kilometers before needing replacement, also depends a lot on what generation of Prius battery it is. A regular Prius replacement battery can also be bought aftermarket for 1000€ and replaced by someone with nothing more than a TH-cam guide in a few hours..

It would help to have more examples of how exactly an almost defective driving unit sounds like. This video (th-cam.com/video/Dkp1NJEzAbQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=MartinFurmyr) shows a recognizable sound, but should people be worried if they hear this?
Are all the battery packs the same? Just bought a Smart ForTwo 20 Sep 2020 from Mercedes with 6900 kilometres.

It’s two motors every 280k, and they cost a fraction of a new engine. Think about how much maintenance you do to a gas engine every 280,000km that you don’t have to do to an electric motor. And as pointed out in this video, it’s mainly teslas fault for using cheap motors, other motors can last even longer.

I own a S since 2013 , 360.000 km still original DU and HV batteri, one change of 12 volt batteri and windshield wiper module. Some doorhandles under warranty and that is it. Tires, wipers, cabin filters brake pads and that is it after soon 11 years !

Extremely disappointing that Tesla just kept changing motors instead of fixing the design issue. I own a P85+ with now 400.000km and have installed a bleeder in the speed sensor housing and the inverter housing and the 3 lipped Chinese seal. There are rotor coolant delete kits from the US but I decided to keep an eye on the seal instead of cooking rotor and potentially melting the grease out of the bearings. Those old S are actually amazing cars, considering it was the first car in a new technology of a start-up which was almost broke. Thanks evclinic for demonstrating that EVs can be kept alive and are repairable at a reasonable cost. We need an evclinic in every country of the world.
Drain is good solution, but some point of time you will need to repair rotor and put holly grail graphite seal. You have it in our shop.

When you changing the cells you checking the resistance? And when soldering them you using same materials? It was important in electricity resistance. Because - if Metals not the same they can Fire up. Tesla giving just big blocks from Factory for repairing the big Battery?
Ofcourse, we use old cells with same resistance. You cant use new cells.
Hope all the mechanics are knowledgeable like yourself.

You should have binned that black loose useless ring magnet! It can't be cleaned when changing oil anyway. Usually, gearboxes don't have magnets inside to collect bits of particles! Replace it with a magnetic drain plug instead.
