Did the Tamiya Mosquito fly? Featuring Hambini !
You've done an amazing job on this! Way better than mine is gonna turn out lol. I've made some mistakes with the painting. Nothing which can't be covered with weathering though 😂
It may be an old kit, but I'm in the process of building it. And I'm honestly in love with it! So much detail considering its age, and I've also had absolutely no fit issues. Gorgeous!
The finished Stuka video is up on my channel, incase you had'nt seen it 🙂. Yes, I absolutely fell in love with the kit. Really happy that you had no fit issues, as myself and other modelers have had with numerous vintage classic kits. To be honest the fit issues i had were an engaging challenge which i took joy in overcoming. It's what makes the kit a true classic. Much respect to Airfix for making such a great kit. The molds have stood the test of time which still stand up against modern computer aided designs.
@@littlehistory2392 I'll have a look at the finished video! I'm excited to see what you've done with it
👍❤️🤘🔥 nice kit bro some decent bits for a little history kitbash as one is well needed 👌
Been busy but catching up on friends videos now
Hi Mate :)
You'd really love mini art everything in ONE bag lol, Great video again Terry
Seriously???? Did'nt know that about miniart! Ouchies😁

Oh look at all them rivets and panel details - Saves Terry adding extra's ...hehehe !!
Yep...hehe!😁😁😁
It's annoying seeing Spitfires taking off when talking about Hurricanes taking off!!!!
😁Forgive the artistic licence! It was the only footage i could find of aircraft taking off from RAF North Weald. But in my defence the final shot of the documentary is of a Hurricane taking off with authentic Merlin grunt😁 ...and well spotted sir!👍
Looks like a fun build, Terry 💥👍💥
I hope so Dave mate😁
Nice review with authentic 1940s radio crackling noise. Question, is it really worth the price when there are others perhaps better at a cheaper price. Will this be a live build. and will it fly, (straight into the bin). Thank you Terry
I will be doing as much of it as i can live David. The Trumpeter one will do until i get my hands on the Airfix one.
@@littlehistory2392 The Airfix one has it's issues too.
@@RichardsModellingAdventures LOL ...expected with a vintage classic😅
I have part built the mk1 version of this kit. Dead easy to build. I didn't use the decals as I painted on the markings. Not sure what this version is like but the rivet detail on the wings was way over the top so I filled the holes with a lot of primer. Lovely clear parts in this kit. I need to finish it one day but it’s pre TH-cam so I don't have the time.
Thanks Richard, I did notice the deep rivets... but refrained from commenting on it until i start the build. Odd one this! I thought only the leading edge of the wing was aluminium and the rest canvas...so what hell are all those rivets for??? Right...time for more research!!
@@littlehistory2392the early models were metal and canvas, the later models had an all metal skin, on the wings
Out of the box with a good paint job will make an impressive model. Online reviews point out slight outer shape issues but not enough to make a noticeable difference. The decal red is far too bright and the blue is too dark and can be modified or with a circle cutter and masking sheet you can make your own roundels. I've been working on a 1/24 Trumpeter Zero. Minor shape problems to correct and surface detail improvements. The riveting 'holes,' overall are too deep, generic, not fully represented and do not look like flush rivets but serve well as the detail remains when removing material to create stressed skin effects. With the use of reference and two 1/32 Tamiya Zero kits, more accurate surface detail is being added. For me the outcome is worth the effort and is an acceptable challenge for heightened realism and more build time but I am glad it is not required on all aircraft kits to this extent. From what is mentioned on reviews the Hurricane surface detail is better.
As usual great tips my friend. Cannot wait to get my teeth into this build. God help us all if Tamiya get into the 1/24 game, but i shudder to think the prices they would ask. I think that for the £80ish price point of the Trumpeter Hurricane, it is more than worth it. I would still love to do a direct comparison with the Airfix version at some point in the future.
@@littlehistory2392 There is a hobby shop in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that has a used unopened original seal box 1/24 Airfix Mk1 #14002 for $78.95 CND. Wheels and Wings Hobbies.
Hawker had the foresight to produce Hurricanes in great numbers at the beginning of the war , while government's dithered.
Governments! all the same! Cheers TBGGGGGgggggg
nice video terry, given the massive losses suffered by the U boat arm in the war, that was a nice tribute in your video, some years ago I built a hasagawa type IX U boat, that could be built as a replica kit or a passive diving motorised model, it had front dive planes set to submerge, that would drive it underwater from the thrust of the motor, then on the conning tower it had a not actually realistic at all radar dish, on a arm that was pushed backwards by the water flow, in turn connected to the rear dive planes to set them to surface. given how leaky it was when i tested it in the bath, it never saw a pond or river! plus, not being actually remote controlled, (motor was switched on or off, thats it) if you forgot to set the rudder to make big turns it would be away in a straight line until the batteries went flat.
It is always butt clenching when you send one of these out on the water...there's always a worry, no matter how much tub testing you do, that she would be lost if a real river boat zipped by....which came very close to happening when i took my s100 out for a spin! I still have plans to do a full submersible build on the Revell 1/72 US Navy Gato within the next couple of years. A Type 9 would be cool if and when i get my hands on one. (1/72 Revell version)
Nice one mate
Thanks 👍
I recognized that music. Too funny, You should consider building a Skydiver.
In a similar vein, i've been looking at scratch building from balsa wood an Eagle from Space 1999, ripping apart a drone and having a go at making it fly !! :)
Very nice video. I saw the reflection of the gull and wondered will we have and action replay of dive bombing the U boat. I hope you took your waterproof leggings just in case it didn't come back.
LOL. Thing is i actually took some long bamboo sticks with me, a roll of gaffer tape to join them together and a bit of coat hanger fashioned into a hook just in case she lost power or started sinking !!!
excellent buddy
Cheers Lindsey😁👍

Thank you mate 😁👍👍
Really cool. 🚢
Thankyou GoForIt 😁👍
Great lesson and awesome model!
😁 Thankyou Anthony 👍
ALARM! Looks good and handles well in the water, Terry. Impressed with the speed. My sister had a house with a large in ground pool in the 1980s and I could not, not scratch build a Jules Verne Nautilus. Following the description from the novel the model was accurate. One meter long, powered by an internal, synthetic rubber cord that would propel it approximately 50 meters. Adjustments to make it almost neutral buoyant, the diving planes would keep it at a set hight while moving forward to a maximum depth of about 1.5 meters. More of an experiment that would be done to develop a RC functioning sub than an end goal the model looked cool running underwater and that was enough for me.
The Nautilus, such an iconic design! .I have the 1941 USN Gato 1/72 by Revell to build at some point.and I definately intend to go full R/C.
My favourite shop, i used to pop in all the time when i worked in town. Us yorkies are really spoilt with the hobby shops we have !
Sadly Paul has informed me that come March 2025 he will be shutting the York shop for good. This is due to the council selling the building he is in to property developers. Sad, Sad news. He will still have the Scarborough shop. Luckily he owns that property, so no council interferance!
@@littlehistory2392 I'm gutted to hear that but not surprised. The council are a nightmare for small businesses. I'll make more of an effort to pop in and spends a bit knowing this.
Love that place! 😊
I could live in there if they'd let me😁!

Monk bar model shop is a Aladdins cave of goodies. I try to get there about 4 times a year and splash out lol. Staff are always happy to help and advise . Hopefully get down there before Xmas
Well don't I feel a burk I've never heard of them wow looking forward to learning more thanks Terry keep up the great work
Dont sweat it mate , i'm here to remind folks :)
Gosh, I used to spend my Christmas and Birthday money in Monkbar model shop in the 70's and 80's. Glad to see its mostly the same ❤
Those shops wil all be gone soon as they just can't compete with online choice and if they need to order it in the shop you can just order it yourself , it was a lot different when there was no bloody internet 🙄🙄👎👎
So long as there are modellers willing to set foot outside there front door to support the shops, i hope they can survive. Surprisingly the prices in Monk Bar Model shop are often cheaper than buying online.
I completely disagree. This shop has been going years. We visit York from Middlesbrough 5-8 times a year & it's my goto shop! Always busy, very well stocked & prices are always the same, if not cheaper than elsewhere & that's without paying postage. In fact, my local board game store (beanie games, largest in the North East) now have an ever increasing model section. @littlehistory2392 I don't know where you're from but if you're in the area try redcar models & Hobbies. I absolutely love this store! Plus it also helps that I can nip out on lunch at work to get a bargain! They also have a used section which I tend to buy a lot from! Worse case scenario is you don't like it but at least get a trip to the seaside & a lemon top! 😂
Good God that is a bad location for a shop , if you do not know about it you would just walk by , maybe it is suppose to be like that and he does not want to make money ? 🙄🙄👎👎
Luckily it's quite famous shop amongst modellers and has been there since 1963. As its right next to what we call a "Bar" Fortified gate house, it's actually quite a clever spot for a shop Literally 10's of thousands of tourists pass by every year to see the gate house.
The Matchbox kits are most nostalgic.
Pure nostalgia! 😁😁Matchbos, Airfix and Frog seemed to be the only kits around when i was much, much younger!
