A simple video tour around an amazing model shop.....brings back so many memories of squandering pocket money, well stacked shelves of airfix soldiers and tanks and planes, setting up row upon row of 1/72 scale armies facing off across a turned-over subbuteo cloth pitch as a battlefield...sadly model shops are rare these days so this was a real treat....Thank You Sir!
I wish had got the on the railway counter on camera... i asked "Do you stock all gauges of railway?" he replied with the entire Britannica section on rail gauges...Just awesome!
So glad to see this shop is still open , I used it in the 1980's, working in a newsagents a few doors up I would spend my wages on a Saturday in here. Somethings have changed, the till used to be where the tamiya paints are now, the AFV kits are still in the same place. When I'm next in York I'll pop in.
It is a wonderful shop. I bought my Mallard there when we stayed in York for a few days in 2022. Nice tour! If someone had not told us it was hidden behind the tower house, we might have walked past it.
Loved the video and will be visiting the two model shops next time I’m up York way. If you were serious about making videos of other model shops then you could do worse than Halifax Modellers World and Marcway Scale Models in Sheffield. Both old school model shops, well worth a visit.
I always thought a Bar was referenced to an Ale house but as yourself points out in York its referenced to Gates where folk would come and go. Cheers Terry anymore modelling delights York has to offer?
And after the videoing finished, half the stock was gone as Terry brought it all. Yes we know you couldn't resist. 😇😇🤣🤣🤣 Thanks fore a great video.
LOL...You know me too well!
