Club Car golf cart Auction buy, Motor in pieces, in a bucket, out in the rain. Will it run again?
Bought a golf cart sight unseen, listed as "unknown running condition". Well the motor torn apart and thrown in a bucket then left out in the rain told me it did not run. But that wont stop me from trying to get it to run again!

I love those types of projects ! Always nice to see things being brought back from the dead and put to use. 👍
@@michaelzeinert2074 I do too! One of my favorite things is getting everything in a box and assembling it.
@@VPTfab 🤣
Hey Andy. Check out Packer fastener out of Wausau for hardware. Kind of like Fastenal without the robbery part. They deliver to Stevens point every day and are easy to set up an account with. Been able to get even really odd metric stuff in a few days. Catch you later, Mike
You brought that one back from the dead. One thing I learned about auctions. Don't leave anything behind. You never know what piece of junk turns out to be some unobtanium you need.
Sure did! This was a fun one too! I as well learned that lesson! Grab every part, piece, and dodad within 20' of the machine or whatever you are getting! With this one everything I got was just in the bed of the cart. Nothing else around it. The motor mount sucked but at least I was able to get one! It was $100 however. 😞
Did you say "it's gettin darker because tornado is coming... anyhow..."???
I did! Haha, the tornados went north of us though so we good.
This one turned out well, you're good 👍 Too bad we didn't get to see the burnout
Thank you! I was really upset that I lost the footage of that burnout. 😭
Derik Berry copy? Chinese or other 3rd world country junk. We need to make stuff here and keep the junk out.
Too many people want cheaper everything.
@@VPTfab It’s costing us in the long run.
Good times, workin on the hoe
The best use of making tools for ease of accomplishing tasks.
Good example of a bargain being more expensive than a quality supplier. I feel your pain about getting bad or wrong parts. Seem like all the overseas manufactures are racing to the bottom on quality. I return them for refund, so they lose any kind of profit. Counterfeits are being bigger pain also.
Absolutely! Reviews were kind of all over the place on these types of heads when I was reading. After seeing these I wouldn't do it again for sure. However it was a bit fun going threw them and making them better. But, to get these and put them on a good motor and eventually ruin an entire motor because of them would make me a sad panda. Some parts are ok to cheap on, most parts aren't though. At least if you plan to keep and actually drive the vehicle. Haha
Changing out my 86 Bronco waterpump, while having a beer thought of Changing out the timing chain. Is it good, who knows but after watching this and a few beers why not....cheers
I agree, at the point of changing the water pump may as well change the timing set for peace of mind. Of course have multiple beers threw out the process to keep the good decisions coming.
Great work! Love how you talk to the camera, I laughed when you asked us for a filler rod haha. Rock on brother
Thank you! I try to include you guys when I can. Lol
Your funny but your bits are a little to long drawn out I can see it losing you views
Thank you! I love having feedback, it is the best way to learn how to improve!
@VPTfab of course I'm glad you took that in the intended manner!
It's cause the stang is lowered an that's rough for doing a custom exhaust an rides like pooh
I see a lot of these Case 580 machines for 10 to 15 grand. With 4ish thousand hours or so. I’ve been contemplating one as a farm machine. Glad I found these vids so I know what to expect.
I wish I knew where ,every older Case 580 ive seen with 5-6000 hours is going for over 32,000, mainly purple wave but other places , I ended up with a New Holland b95c with 2600 hours for 28,000 , I just got sick of looking for something
the fucking safety squints had me dying hopefully I can start my shop like you some day
I'd say that car's been f***** over and it needs somebody that's got a half a brain to make it right and it sounds to me like you are that person. Rock on brother
You assume I have half a brain, just keep watching and I'll prove you way over estimate me! 🤣
Somebody added a performance engine cradle it didn't smash in anything. Somebody put a late. Somebody put a performance cradle in it to reduce the weight of the the vehicle and from the looks of it they they did a half-assed butcher job and probably change. Charge them all of the money that they could get out of them cuz he's probably young, dumb and full of c** that's my guess
Nice job ! Especially with what you had to work with. Now don't let them put on a vpt decal😂
Thanks! Haha
That looked like one tough job Andy. When life hands you lemons for a job, time to make a Scotch on the Rocks. 😂😂
Wow what state lets you have window tint that dark?
Probably none. Lol
Do you still have the factory front suspension?
I do! I got your message.
Whats the red stuff you used
That is just a spot putty body filler. Just to smooth it out before paint.
You did a excellent job on that lower unit!!!!!
Thank you!
It's always a good day when you can knock out a bunch of projects. Are you going big time on us. I see you had on a nice clean, presentable shirt with you logo on it. Not like your winter coat. 😂😂 That was a great save on the boat motor.
Haha no. I really just wanted to recognizable shirt to help keep the laundry separated. A family member did the logo for me. They won't be this nice for long! Lol
Neat!!

@@chuysaucedo7119 it ran surprisingly well! Did 12.8 in the quarter on just motor. I didn't get to play with it as much as I wanted to. Once my supercharged CRX was built this one was parted out.

My opinion; That thickness of rust is so thick that I think that the rust was already there to begin with, in as such the VPT was basically knocking it off. Of course, I am not a metallurgist nor a professional. Nor did I not see what the metal looked like when you first started. Just my dumb opinion. New subscriber 4-21-2024. You have great content Sir!
Awesome work ! You have a lot more patience than I do 😂
Thank you! If I didn't try to do it half way ok I knew I'd always see it and it would always bother me. Lol
This was a wonderfully shot and edited video. Your production experience is showing. Making a power feed for the bead roller would be a challenge . But, making an indexing lever so that you could position the handle at the best angle for good leverage should be relatively easy. Use an extra ratchet wrench as the basis for the fabrication.
Thank you! Plans for a powered bead roller are already in motion. 😁
My oil pump is pumping 10 times too much. The adjuster doesn’t stop it. This give me some good ideas to check out.
Hope you can figure it out.
Even with the bead roller you get warping or twisting of the metal; hence the bow in rhe panel, your best bet is to pre stretch the path of the beads on an english wheel, or get the biggest bead male die and the flat part of any other die and roll it through a few times, even the rubber bottom die would work, also a tipping die makes good breaks if you don't have a metal brake but great work overall it looks great
Thank you for the tips! I am new to sheet metal forming/bead rolling. It is definitely a skill and art! I am in awe of the designs and work some some people can do with sheet metal!
I've use a "croissant" wrench many times for things that do not come close to loosening up nuts and bolts! Nice job on those panels too.
They sure are handy! Thank you!
Always good to see the shotgun approach to applying leverage. I mean, that's a pretty high-caliber setup. I don't even know if it can be accurately gauged....
I'm willing to give it a shot.
The vin number was stamped on one of those inner fenders. Do you think removing that will cause any problems down the road? I’m simply going to patch my shock towers closed when I convert mine.
That is a good observation! I didnt even notice the stamping. It is possible it is further back yet towards the firewall, I will have to check. I could easily cut it out and weld it into the new panel. But I am not worried much about it. The car still has the other vin tag and stamps.
Getting there. Like the new work shirt, looks good. Going to check out that Logan lathe tomorrow. Take care
I looked today and the vin is still on the rear part of the apron.
@@mikeduhm5325 I hope it works out for you! I like my Logan! Let me know if you need any help with the move.
@@VPTfab Im pretty covered as far as getting it to plover. I might need help getting it from there to the shop and unloading it. I have the ability to lift it off a trailer but I might not be up to doing that myself.
Did nice work man I really like it 👍👍👍
Thank you!
I’m wanting to do this to mine, find a second hand intercooler that’s got a broken mount or something and make up my own piping, looks sick man.
Thanks! Good luck with your conversion!
Keep rolling on Anndy. I just had to fill my C25 bottle also. Fortunately, it happened early enough to get to the weld shop. They just exchange it so I was back welding after a couple hours. I laughed at your jack stand. I have the exact same pair here and still use them.
I just picked up a second bottle today! It's just strait argon now but I'll have it filled with mix. Now I'll always have a backup. I use the jackstands yet too! Haha
Can you tell us the chain pitch or where you got your top sprocket. Also would you tell us why you chose what looks like a bout a 6" sprocket? Thanks for a great video.
I believe the chain pitch was #2. The sprocket size is just the tooth ratio I estimated based on how many turns the motor made vs the jackshaft in its original setup.
looks like Ziebart.... spray on liquid moisture holding tar.....
Even worse.
You need to move to Arizona
POR 15 works just fine if used properly. You have to actually clean the rust off first, desalinate the frame, and then you use POR 15 and THEN paint it or whatever. You can't just use POR 15 only and go along your merry way, no one would ever do that and expect different results. Its meant as a prep to neutralize rust before painting or something else. Literally everyone knows that, even the rustproof/removal place I took my 2008 Jeep Wrangler to told me the same. My daily Driven 2008 Jeep Wrangler, and I live in upstate NY, was done 5 years ago, POR 15, first, then painted the frame and it still is solid as a rock.
This truck was OK 5 years ago as well. Id be interested to hear how your jeep is doing in another 5 years and 100K miles.
Looking and hearing about the rust and road conditions perhaps you need to add some annodes and change them out every season. Dont mess around use Magnesium. 5 or 6 blocks evenly spaced along each rail should get you protection for 90 days over brine. basically the snow season, replace at the end after a decent wash and maybe a traditional oil treatment or a paint. The only thing that will protect it if bare metal is there is an anode.
Old motor oil and a pump sprayer is fhe best way to keep frame rust away. Just make sure to hose it down in your neighbors yard, especially if that neighbor lets his dog crap in yours
5 parts used motor oil, 1 part diesel. Spray away. (Park in grass for first week though).
I have a rocker sprayer I use for spraying diesel waste oil now. Much better!
@@VPTfab I'm in NE Texas and they started treating roads with brine and salt just a few years ago. Hate that they do that.
@@amossnowdaharleyman9179 The brine just kills the steel, but it also makes it so we can drive in the winter.
@@matzrat5006 We get a few snow event days MAYBE every 3 years and untreated roads are clear in a day or two.Not a big fan of salt or brine especially when the treated roads don't get any snow or ice (was just a threat).
@@amossnowdaharleyman9179 lucky, here its the black ice that is so dangerous.
I have to call bs..
Let us know what Bob Saget says.
Use white lithium aerosol and used oil
Any seal coat is horrible and anyone saying oh mine is great it's probably sitting in a garage 90% of the time and never sees winter or salt. Fluid film or any oil based coating is the way to go
I agree 100%
Fluid film is far superior.
Some say the blaster brand of "fluid film" is even better. Definitely never using por again!
oil is the best undercoating.
There must be a better way - Galvanising a chassis would be it - but what a job that would be.... Complete disassembly, Stripping, Galvanising, adding an etch-primers, re-assembling the whole ute. But it would make the frame not rust. But then - there's the cab. Unless it's made from galvanised steel.... Urgh..... So hard.
Por will stop rust but it’s not meant to prevent rust. It’s used as an option to restore cars that will never be subject to road salt.
Even though it's literally called a "rust preventive permanent coating"
