    We have to keep our growing spaces real and show it has it is or viewers will think it's all greawhen it isn't. Growing leeks for the first time in 7 years and sowing them very soon, but won't be planting until spring. I only buy 4 bags of compost a year now and I get less rubbish in my home made compost. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

    Never be ashamed of the veg plot - the gardening community lives in the real world and your channel is better than an artifical "You tube" reflection. Stay real and create on your own terms. Reminds me, I must get out before winter sets in and remove that rogue buttercup seedling - it's distracting from the nettle and dock background🙃

Way better than a beer trap :- 1 teaspoon of yeast mixed in 1ltr warm water with 2 teaspoons of sugar, its unreal how quick it works. slugs never touch my red salad bowl lettuce. I also read snap dragons deter lugs.👍

      @majordog2399 it certainly does so they can put energy into the bulb to form instead of the leaves. I trim again. I'm spring when i plant them too. I have had a really good crop this season, too, growing from seed. Never going back to sets 🙂

    It has been a challenge this year Mark for growing in the allotment, I would say everything was about 4/6 behind normal growing conditions, Ive had a poor carrot and parsnip germination this year, great growth on cauliflower but heads were tiny, apart from that reasonably happy, take care, Steve

    I'd be wary of molycoddling the onion seedlings too much. If they put on a lot of growth before winter, there's a risk that come Spring they will think they are in their second season, and bolt. I think you will be better off planting them out small. But you could always split into two batches and compare results, scientific like.

    • @marksallotmentplot
      @marksallotmentplot 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great minds think a like Martin! That was my main worry about the onion seedlings. Bringing them into the warm and then putting them back out in the cold again. Might just keep them in the unheated greenhouse for another couple of weeks and then put them out 👍🌱👍

    Hi Mark. Don’t give up on main crop in pots, you can get awesome crops. I had a rubbish year in the main due to blight but for several years I have grown Picasso main crop in pots and they do wonderfully. They give large very tasty potatoes. My sspc potatoes managed to avoid blight and I got a whopper of a harvest. Don’t know that variety yet but they are wonderful baked. I would put your harvests down to the funny old weather this year. Take care. Mags

    Potatoes in the ground pretty much look after themselves. Potatoes in buckets need care, especially in making sure they get the right amount of water, light and food. I put mine in a warm sunny spot where I see them every day and I get a very reasonable crop. They usually get fed at the same time as the tomatoes, just because that's easy.

    Aww mark, still better than nothing ey. I would highly recommend 'Cara' maincrop, I do those every year in large fabric bags. About 4-5 per bag is enough and you get nice sized ones from those, but definitely the ones in the most sunniest position do the best.
