    What a blast from the past! I used to do some of these when I was about 12 in the mid 70s because my parents wouldn't let me get a barbell set. Once I got the set, I gradually forgot about these isometric exercises. I'm pushing 60 now and still train with weights but I need to bring these back. Thanks the video!

    Im a little late, but if anyone is looking for a cheap way to measure how much force your using with your diy isochain, then I'd recommend looking at crane scales. They can be awkward to use for certain lifts, but they are fairly cheap. I got one for around $35 that goes up to 2,000lbs (supposedly) and a smaller one that goes up to 800lbs on sale for $10. I would look for one that has a hold feature that will display the highest weight it detected, that or use a mirror to read your scale.

      These are great videos. That's the great thing about isometrics. For those who still lift weights they can be used greatly to help improve sticking points. On the other hand I use mine to mimic all the work I do for my particular job. That's why they are the best form of exercise because they can be used in a multi-faceted way.

    Hey, with this video you won a new subscriber. Gonna watch your other isometric videos, very interested in your research and experience. I cannot afford the Isomax (poor from a poor country) but I am glad they invented it (I was thinking that would be so cool, to monitor with numbers). Still it's not perfect for all things, and some new devices could be made, but it is something else for sure (a hidden gem I suppose). Cheers

    170.8 kg is nice, that is 376.55 lbs. I say every 50 lbs = 1 point of power level, that your power level is 7.531. My max power level was 9, way back iny youth when DBZ hit all of North America in 1999. It was here in 1995 but only in small circles of geek friends with giod connections to foreign stuff. I suspect, under the right conditions that optimize your gene expression, you could unlock a power level of 28.6178, exceding the lifting power of Eddie Hall.

    Cool, but the mouth is not for breathing, that opens your system to things that are ordinarily filtered out by the brain dumping excess heate through your mucus membranes that are only cooled by nostril breathing. That cooling being a sharp contrast to the higher concentration of heat just before each inhale strikes the mucus with its captive microbes that are slowly being pushed out as the air moistens and warms upon entry to minimize the shock it has on the system using itts content to sustain your blood and life quality. PS: No, I am not a medical expert and no, I am not a vampire...

  • @linyenchin6773
    @linyenchin6773 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hey, as I watched you breakdown, toward the end. I realized that "dynamic tension" is the closest thing to Ki manipulation. I know, it sounds "nuts" and it probaly is but nuts doesn't necessarily mean "incorrect." It's Ki-netic mastery you demonstrate in "dynamic tension," thats like a subtle chaining of kinematic nodes which flow like water, allowing you to even feel the nature of your blood pressure and its flow. It's a super tigjt OODA loop that grants continuous feedback on the nodes of your kinesiology, just like "bio feedback" technology is designed to do. What if not "ki sense" would you call this side effect and prerequisite for fully developing "dynamic tension"? As we refine mastery over all the available muscle fiber one can activate, we cultivate the potential of activating even more muscle fibers as the body begins to morph as it entrusts you with the use of more force through the nervous system or "ki network."

    IMO you shouldn't use straps when you start lifting, as you definitely need that forearm strength. If later, you find that your forearms are giving out before the muscle you are attempting to isolate, then straps are fine.

    No its not cheating. Its like using straps on hanging ab raises. You just take out the limiting factor which in this case is grip strength/forearms. Which makes it more efficient on targeting the actual shoulder muscles of this exercise. It's smart.

    For about $100 I bought WorldFit isotrainer strap. It effectively does everything the very much more expensive Isochain does. It would evenly fit comfortably in your briefcase. You can also just slip it through a simple nylon door anchor (like you can use with power bands and tubes) and add a whole variety of exercises at various angles. You can adjust resistance in seconds. It is silent. The handles are more comfortable. Ir uses excellent materials. Two handles rather than one avoids stronger arm compensation. Sure, it doesn't have the resistance gauge but anyone who's trained for a while intuitively knows whether he or she is working near failure. But because of its simplicity nothing can malfunction.

    Great video. 79 years old now and discovered isometrics at 13 in Maxick's book Muscle Control. At 15 I was wrestling catch-as-catch-can with grown and experienced men at local YMCA. Continued strength training all my life and still deadlifting a couple of 48 kg kettlebells 15 reps, carrying them 50 metres and squatting comfortably 65 kg sandbag reps. Christmas 2020 broke my ankle - both bones and injured ligaments. Ended up with pins and plate, plaster only one foot allowed on ground for four months plus and about two months boot. I bought an isometric strap online and worked out overcoming isometrics throughout with it and injured leg with muscle control exercise. Within three weeks after recovery I was in my garage gym one day and idly approached my 92 kg Rogue kettlebell which I used for two-hand deadlifts 15 reps. Without even warming up I deadlifted it with just my right hand. Never so much as raised it off the floor with one hand before. Returned to my old routine of heavy compound movements with weights and sandbag -- dead lifts, farmers carry and squats and have never even attempted that one hand DL with 92kg again. But I believe that if I did 10 months overcoming isometrics DL, Squats and shoulder press - I could do it again. Hand strength definitely the limiting factor and I'm frankly surprised I developed it so much with an isometric strap!
