  • As Ukrainian and Russian refugees make their way to the U.S.Port of Entry at San Ysidro, a network of volunteers has assembled and is helping them through the process of seeking asylum and entering the U.S. through Southern California.
I spoke at length with one of these volunteers, Leo Dubineskiy. He and his wife traveled from Sacramento CA to help. At the time of this interview they had been at the San Ysidro Port of Entry for 3 days. Initially they were driving refugees from the Tijuana Airport to the pedestrian border crossing, but the day before this interview Leo had to break away from driving and start running crowd control to help manage and organize the ever growing number of refugees arriving.
Leo and his wife have been spending their own money to travel to Tijuana, buying food and supplies to help the refugees, and even buying plane tickets for many refugees.
Below is a link to help the Dubinetskiys with their expenses as well as other aid and volunteer organizations in SoCal and internationally.
