How To Replace a Broken CV Joint on a Pajero: Step-by-Step DIY Guide
So there are many options out there for CVs, i got quotes from local mechanics and they were charging around the $800 mark so i thought i could do it myself. got quotes from a few places but ultimately found supercheap was the cheapest, i would stay clear of bursons as a quote from them was double, even they both CVs were identical product code and everything. there are quite a few options out there for CVs so just keep in mind this particular one is for the front drivers side. The part number is A1261 if you give that number to a worker at super cheap they will know what its for.
So after a trip to fraser and hitting a large bump my car started making a bit of a funny noise, and i believed it to be my CV, so i got under my car and gave it a shake and it felt very loose and was ratt;lying. Now i'm not 100% convinced that the CV was the only problem as it still making a funny noise, especially when i hit bumps, anyways i replaced it and have made a step by step video of the process.

Is it because it is raised by 3 inches, so it puts too much pressure on the CV?
And thanks I really appreciate this video
Hi, where can I find this head unit with the accessories?
and what about the rear camera parking? will this fit my 2016 Montero Limited?
Thanks for the review. Do you know if the unit connect to an iPod via USB and drive that?
I love you😊
did you come across a hill called patrol or ktm hill
Not that I know of what is it?
The bolts you mounts the brackets to the awning, do they come with the kit
I bought my awning second hand, so I bought them separately. I don't know if it's supposed to come with it or not, but mine didnt
Can you link me your Infill panels for the boot door?
Awesome work, thanks for sharing. Ive done the front left but now my drivers side is due so this will help thanks.
Good vid, thank, I just ordered a lift kit
Great video. Very helpful. Thank you for making and sharing it! ❤😎🙏
Hey Bia, just a question with how you’re traveling with it. In regard to the awning wrapping around to the boot, and your positioning of the awning from the roof, do you get much rain coming in from that gap at the back above the boot? Was just wondering if you could shift the awning forward a bit more if you chose to, to slightly close that gap? Looking at the same one for a Paj and was worried water would get straight through or drip heavily when I’m cooking or accessing the boot. Cheers Bia.
Who asked for a walk around "build" list?
The strange noises are probably some of the suspension and wheel alignment bolts not being done up, tighten the lower should bolt to 100NM tightness all the other larger suspension bolts to 140NM that old CV is still good its stronger than the new one. If you get clicks and clunky noises from the drive line pull all 4 wheels off and re tighten that 36mm axle nut on every wheel EDit: Tighten those suspension bolts with the car on its wheels to avoid additional stress on the rubber bushings
Thanks for the info!
Just a few tips from another pajero owner, those aftermarket CV’s wont last, they are a different cheaper design internally and are basically made of chalk. Your best off to spend up on a new OEM or get second hand, remove the boots and re grease as the factory are stronger, you will know if they are factory because the shaft has a thick section in the middle. You also should have zip tied the dust boot on the strut inside the spring. It’s good to see someone doing their own work ! You could have left the brakes on but it would have been more awkward. The CV you pulled out actually looked good, i suggest putting it back in it will be stronger than the new one
Thanks for the video....I love Pajero..I have a Pajero Wagon 2018 Black edition chassis old man emu..have a nice day
Hey I’ve just install a android head unit and everything works great it’s similar to yours but now I don’t have cruise control or my speedometer has stop working I plug my old unit back in and it works Have you had the same issue
Those GSP shafts are dog shit. Best off when you can find some low km replacements from ebay. I think I got both rear drievshafts delivered to my door from an NX for just over $200. Bargain for some SLIGHTLY used OEM shafts.
Cheer for the heads up I'll look into it
I'm amazed that sand bank doesn't wash away!
Most common clinking noise up front are the sway bar end links. Just remove the front sway bar. Dont need it.
You took off way more than we usually do for the front cvs. We undid the upper ball joint and tie rod. We don't have sway bars up front. Undid the inters then tilted the spindle down and cv came out. Your gen 4 has 36mm castle nuts. The gen 3 is 32mm. I would like the bigger brakes though.
Ok thanks, if I do the cv again in the future I'll see if i can do it in less steps. But I've also heard that the front 2 cvs are different to do, I'm not sure as I haven't taken the left one off
Yes. The left is easier. It is just pushed in on a circlip and not bolted in so you just yank that sucker out. Once your originals are out I'd have them rebuilt and keep the aftermarket's for spares.
Yeah 100% that's what I plan on doing
❤❤❤ thank you so much for the Kind and generous Heart of sharing yours skill ❤️💪💪🙏
So nice of you! Thank you
Hi, beautiful car and videos. What is the width and the offset of your rims?
Gosh I can never seem to remember the off set sorry 😬 haha but they were just a 265/70/17 but I've since switched to 285/70/17 I'm planing on doing an new walk around vid in the next week or so as I've changed a few things
But you can always trim the cover a bit and it will fit after that.
"Sink hole"??,,,when its just a sand scour due to current,,next it will be a tsunami because the tide came in,,😊
If you search up sink holes inskip point you will see there have been a few other the last few years. Definitely not just the tides, this video is about a week after the sink hole happened. But there are other videos up showing the sink hole happening in person
Finally, a step-by-step video on how to do a front CV on a Pajero! Great detail, clear instructions, and excellent camera work showing parts, bolts, specs and tricks. 10/10. Keep them coming! FYI for others watching: the two bolts you’ll need to help take off a stuck brake disc are M8 x 1.25.
Hey so glad that you like the video. It can be daunting posting this video as I'm definitely no where near an expert. But I'm always trying to show people they can have a crack at anything themselves! And I end up watching back half my video anyways as I always forget how I did it haha
@@bia4x4 as you say, I think it’s that little confidence boost is all that people really need for them to give it a go themselves. Great videos, keep making them!
Great video! 😮❤
Thanks for sharing. I now feel confident to do this too.
Go for it!
Hey i just stumbled onto your vid as im researching on doing the same to my 2011 platinum pajero. Have you got any more wisdom you could share with me since youve done the upgrade?
Hey thanks for watching the video. The only wisdom I can share is that running the wiring for the camera all the way to the back door can be a bit titious so give your self plenty of time to run the wiring correctly
Hey Bia, check the sway bar D rubbers for the clunking. Easy enough to replace and cheap enough to be able to do front and rears.
Hey, thanks so much, will definitely check it out!
Good shit
3 inches?
Yes that is what I said
@@bia4x4 maximo 2inche
That's cool if you think that, I do have other videos showing with a tape measure the hight it is currently and you can compare it to what a standard paj height it. But seeing as your the expert you must be right🤙🏼
@@bia4x4 Because I raised it 2.7 inches, many parts can't be used, so I thought you were wrong.

Hey Bia! Please keep us informed about the clunk noise. Is getting clunky in my Pajero, also. Although I don't know if it is the same clunk you hear. I suspect, the swaybar bushings on my car, cause it only clunks when I go over bumps.
Just a suggestion. Don't wear sandals.
