Clean your map sensor on the regular, like evry 1000 miles small but huge maintenance item
Thanks for that tip! I'm due to clean mine.
@sliceoflife1821 most people say every 5k oil change but i checked mine after 500 miles and it was sooted up already most people just use the oil change routine as a base line but don't know how bad the map sensor soots up so quick

While pulling trailer uphill and going downhill, the exhaust fluid quality appears. Who you know what cause the the problem?
That could be your NOx sensor at the diesel particulate filter. Letting off on your accelerator while going down hill is very similar to the same issue with John Andrews in this video: th-cam.com/video/lnf5SH3oB4I/w-d-xo.html He does a real good job explaining the steps to get the ECU to cooperate and engage the regen to clear the issue after changing the sensor. Maybe that's close to your issue. Best of luck!

Great question. The removal is shown in this video around the 20:22 mark: th-cam.com/video/i7CQV5NVnSo/w-d-xo.html Adding the vibration from the hammer drill makes it much easier. Good luck!

Where is it located at Alexandria Bay?
This video was shot at two islands ranging from 1.5 to 2.5mi up river from Alexandria Bay's downtown area.
Hi
At the 5:04 time, if you look at the bottom left of the video you will see a round cylinder. It is a 1,000 lb. bomb. It has 1,000 stamped on it. There are a couple more 500 lb around that area as well.
That's a good catch! I read articles about them using dummy (inert) bombs so they could test accuracy of impacts. If they were live they would obviously lose their target along with additional environmental issues.
Thank you for writing back!!
I really appreciate your sharing your experience in how you did this job and you did it in a very easy to understand manner. Well done! A couple of questions: Could the large terra-cotta flu sections been broken and then lowered down in smaller pieces? I could not tell in the video, but I was wondering when you were working on the roof if you had a safety harness and a rope attached to the roof or over the roof line and to a ground anchor point?
Great question. I did hump the terra-cotta at first in whole sections, but they are crazy heavy and awkward. So I later tried to break them carefully and it was very easy. Just hold one of the sides and lightly tap about a foot or more lower and it will break off in your hand (to avoid a mess down below in the flue). You don't need much force. I remember using a plastic hammer to spread the load on impact. Glad the video is helping you out and best of luck!
Sorry I forgot your second question. My roof at the chimney base is very flat so I didn't tie-off when working on the roof. When using the lift I tied off to the lift's designated location with a shock-absorbing lanyard from the full body harness. If I was on a steeper slope, I would have tied off using the nailed or screwed D-Ring plates you can get at most stores and attach it where you would have to repair/replace the shingles or a better location. Make sure you have good lumber beneath the plate, not just plywood. I don't trust long ropes, especially over peaks. Too much can go wrong. There's more detailed and proper direction from the tie-off plate manufacturer you choose. Definitely a "follow the instructions moment". Stay safe and good luck!
Fantastic video!!
I'm glad you liked it. It was only the fifth time I flew that drone so I apologize it wasn't smoother. If we get back out there this summer, I'll make another fly-by.
Lifting the motor up a little bit will allow you to drop straight down lol for future reference 😂
did you have to remove anything to access it? my 2019 has some sort of cover in that area and i've already busted up my knuckles trying to get at it. yours looks easy to get to???
Sorry to hear about that cover. I didn’t have anything in my way. I wonder if they had issues with debris grabbing the wires or infiltrating the Bosch electronics. Sounds frustrating!
Sensor price please??
Looks like you can buy it on Amazon now for $145.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO GET THE TIMING COVER ON WITHOUT SMEARIMG THE GASKET SEALANT OFF?!?! I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING!!!
Sorry to hear you are having issues John. Totally understandable as it's very hard to avoid smearing the sealant. If you haven't already tried this, get another pair of hands to guide one area/side while you can concentrate on the other. Hang in there. You will get it done!
Nice work. Appreciate your video. Thanks for making it.
Thanks for the kind words Nick!
I was wondering if you could edit your video title. the part you change is not technically the 'diesel particulate sensor' (as GM/Chevrolet see's it). The Specific phrasing for GM/Chevrolet of 'diesel particulate sensor' is related to p2002. I am encountering p2002, which is for a diesel particulate sensor, which is in the DPF part of the exhaust, not the pipe. You description refers to the correct 'particulate matter sensor' term, but throws off anyone searching for the other code/ or part for Chevrolet/ duramax/ GM.
If I have misled you I apologize. There are many terms assigned to these sensors and with the implementation of DEF systems in all new diesels, the names get a little scattered and splattered. Bosch, who makes this sensor for GM calls it a Particulate Matter Sensor. I'll add that as an "a.k.a." in the description and add "Exhaust" to the title matching the other vendors (including GM dealers) that sell this sensor. With my truck approaching 5 years now, I'm due to get the service manual and will research the other sensors throughout the whole exhaust for terminology and function. The bottom line is this sensor is for soot calculation post DPF system for the computer to calculate the need for regeneration cycles to heat and clean the DPF. Thanks for making me think about this more and good luck with your repair.
Sorry, it's Saturday morning, I now see my 2017 is hitting the 7 year mark. Time flies when something's so reliable!
Those 2 hoses you were pointing are used to calculate the soot % accumulated on the DPF filter.
Awesome. Thanks for the input!
Thank you! Very helpful!
Your welcome and glad it helped!
Hey there! Great video! Thank you! I have a 2019 Colorado Diesel and have a code for that sensor. I saw one video on cleaning one but sounds from yours that replacement is better. What device are you using for reading codes and to run the Regen? I also saw a video from one guy that said he still had to take it to a dealership for them to tell the computer that a new sensor went in. Any thoughts? Thank you!
Thanks for the compliment Russ! Just open the description and head to the related video on the regen procedure I performed with the Launch diagnostic tool. That should help you out. For my sensor replacement, no additional programming was required. I doubt your Colorado's diesel would require it. Good luck!
Are you still having issues or did this take care of it? Currently having a P147B code that says “Particulate matter sensor shunt circuit high voltage” has this is third time light has come on and I’ve coded and this the most repetitive code (or closest to the most repetitive). Love your video, sry easy to understand. Can’t seem to find the sensor anywhere to buy tho Amazes me we can’t drive these new diesels like the old ones we grew up driving. Letting it sit to idle instead of cutting on and off, etc.. it is very disappointing I’m having emissions issues with a 2019 after I bought it.
Hey Lucas, I'm sorry to hear your 2019 is having the same issue. I've had no issues since I change the sensor and performed the service regen. I had to get mine from the dealer so it was painful on the wallet, but worth it. I agree, there are so many different models on the net that look like a match, but just make sure the dealer confirms you have the correct replacement. Your 2019 will be rolling smooth again!
What scanner are you using

Great video despite your light issues. Cheers
Thanks for the kind words! I'm overdue posting some new vids on the Rover. What an amazing car!
@@sliceoflife1821 Yes indeed. Love mine
How long did it take you to lower the engine?
If I include the time to place the car up high on jack stands, prep the back engine mount, disconnect the drive shaft & exhaust, and loosen the front mount bolts, I would say that was one long day around 8 hrs. Now I'm not a pro so I don't have the instant knowledge of tool size and technique, so surely the pros can do this in just a couple hours. The actual lowering was just a few minutes of very slow releases. I hope this helps.

Yes, those manuals are hard to find and many times the price can be ridiculous. I hope your project goes smooth!
Sir did you have to reset the adaptation to the vehicle after sensor change?
No reset or reprogramming was required for the sensor replacement. It was smooth and easy.
@@sliceoflife1821 Thanks for the reply. BMW is clowning me saying I need to reset the vehicle adaptation before they will warranty the DPF.
I have a check engine light on my 2020 Chev Silverado Diesel 2500 - catalytic converter isn't functioning efficiently. Would this process fix that ?
There's a good chance, but since you should still be under the 5yr. warranty for that motor, I would let the dealer decide the next move. I've heard from others, they usually start with a service regen and see what "bakes off" and analyze each system for flow. Good luck!
@@sliceoflife1821 thank you! Who can I find to do the regen??
@@1961suzieq Glad to help. Just take it to any Chevy dealer and they will perform the service regen. for you. They may also have other techniques to analyze your cats versus the other systems.
I have the same issue dealer won’t do a service regen to see what happens they just want to replace the whole filter… still under warranty tho, but DPF filters are on back order thanks to the strikes
What lights did you have on before the job was done?
I lost all communication with the ABS module, so I don't remember a specific code with loss of comms. Many months before this, I do remember a code trip on the brake fluid pressure sensor. That is actually the circuit Module Repair Pro had to re-soldier. Hope this helps!
Did you have a check engine light on which prompted you to change the dpf? Also, can that tool clear check engine lights and codes with the regen performed?
The most repetitive DTC (check engine light) code I received before this change was P1478 "Particulate Matter Sensor Temperature Circuit High Voltage". Yes, the Launch diagnostic tool (X431) can check and clear fault codes before or after service procedures similar to most diagnostic tools. Good Luck!
its my understanding the VCT and exhaust cam sprocket use the same bolt ? So you need a total of 4 bolts for replacement ?
That's a good question. I don't see bolt specs in my manual. I'll try some other resources. Does anyone else know this answer?
Great video, thank you! I’m going to need to do this soon. Did you use an oem exhaust system or aftermarket?
Glad to hear the video helps. I bought the Bosal exhaust system from Rock Auto. I just searched and it looks like they carry different brands now. The car and exhaust system still runs great 4 years later. Best of luck!
Hello sir, did you only do the deflate reservior procedure on diag tool prior to removing the line?
Great question! At the time I performed the repair my diagnostic tool did not have that option, so I just bled it manually. No issues encountered. Best of luck!
@@sliceoflife1821 All done, it definitely seals up the tank now! Thank you for showing the leak! It was very helpful. After repairing, I feel more confident in troubleshooting the EAS. The system is quite basic and people take it more of an issue than it really is. I used a leftover spare a/c line o-ring from a box bought at autozone. By the looks of it, this o-ring seems like a common issue as L322s age based on how it is fitted. The fitting has no indent for the o-ring to sit in. It literally seals between the head of the fitting and the tank. It's a bit baffling to me since o-rings are usually fitted inside the lines (e.g. a/c and power steering lines). As the o-ring gets deteriorated over time because of this design, the issue will arise again. I would give it no more than 5 years before this fitting starts feeling questionable again.
Way to go! Glad the video helped you out and I agree, this will probably require replacing again in 5 yrs. Great points on that o-ring fit! You just saved yourself tons of money and have more confidence for the future. Enjoy the high!
