What the best route you think I should Do want to get into the electric field but just don’t know to start I don’t know to do trade school
It really depends on what your situation is, I think that it’s best to try to get with a company & learn on the Job to get the experience. But if you feel like the school route would be better right now that’s cool too. I think you’ll be fine with either decision, pray on it!🙏🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman thanks for the advice
@@thatonekidd6184 No problem Brother!👍🏽
Brother I have the RIDGID set but I don’t like it for new construction. Especially when you work on building with a lot of stairs. The handle tends to break. Good thing is you can Always take it back to Home Depot and get a new one for your replacement
Thanks Deion for the advice, Hopefully if I get the RIGID set it’s doesn’t break on me.. I really just need some extra space for my tools.. Thanks again for the advice & The support!👍🏽
Great video. You could also get some small locknut wretches to tighten the locknut inside the generator
I appreciate it Jamison, I’ll have to check them out so far it’s just been my Kleins & a beater flat head.. Thanks for the advice & support!👍🏽
I just graduated highschool and dont know what to do. I see this as an opportunity but im also afraid of heights and i have little to nun experience with tools and etc. do yk if i should still give it a shot?
I definitely think it’s a great opportunity if you’re willing to put in the work. I was similar to you when I started I didn’t have a lot of hand tool experience either. Don’t let that stop you, You Got This!👍🏽
Great video son.........I learned a lot from this video....
Thank you my man, Love You!🙏🏽
Thanks so much
You’re welcome Brother!🙏🏽
Seems so minimal but your tape will be your best friend for years to come! Great vid man, keep pumping em out! 4 months into my electrical journey!
You’re absolutely right Nate, It will definitely be your best friend! Congratulations on your Electrical Journey, One day at a time.. Thanks for the support!🙏🏽
How is the Milwaukee Jobsite backpack you have holding up for you? Thinking about buying one as an electrical apprentice!
It’s still working just fine for me, I Love that Backpack! Hopefully you can catch it on sale, when I got mine it was 80 bucks! Wishing you nothing but the best on your electrical journey..👍🏽
Man pumping out the vids, keep it up!
Appreciate it Brother!🙏🏽
Industrial or commercial
We mostly do Residential & Commercial, this was the first time doing some Industrial work. It was definitely a good learning experience!👍🏽
Great video. I turn 1 year as an apprentice on 6/26/24. Very inspiring stuff my dude. The thing that keeps me going is knowing that too many people want to be influencers and are afraid to get down and dirty with hard work.
Congratulations Brother on hitting your 1 year mark that’s a Big Accomplishment. I was super excited when I hit mine. Thanks for the support just doing the best that I can do, One day at a time!🙏🏽
I salute you brother. I'm a Journeyman out of Centex IEC here in Austin Texas for almost 8 years. I love the trade and I feel everything you saying about health and being in shape for life and the field of being an electrician, lol. Peace and keep pushing
I really appreciate it Brother, Praying one day to be where you are. Definitely have to stay in shape it’s a must..😂 Thanks for the support again Brother!🙏🏽
I’m starting trade school next week for the electrical program but I don’t see a lot of vids on youtube about it, you inspire me to start my own channel to inform people if it’s worth it or not
Congratulations Alejandro, Enjoy the Journey Brother. So happy for you man, Let me know how the Trade school is & I definitely think it’s great for you to document everything and share your experience with everyone. Thank you for the support & You Got This!🙏🏽
Nothing like a solid day of honest work.
Yes sir, It’s nothing like it!👍🏽
Good topic to discuss. You not alone in this journey. We are more alike than we are different. My journey was similar to what yours is now. Trusting the process has its moments of difficulty but it will always make you stronger in your faith and in your trade. My wife and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary next month. What I have learned from my experience is to always make time for God and Family before anything else. Other things will come and go but family will have a greater part in life.
Congratulations to you & your wife 30th Anniversary that’s amazing hopefully one day my wife & I can get there.. It’s definitely tough trying to find that balance but trusting in God & Keeping him & my family first is a must.. One day at a time.. Thanks for all of the Advice I really appreciate it.
I am happy you are doing well take it easy bro drink lots of water stay hydrated
Yes sir I Got You!👍🏽
I appreciate watching your videos it’s hard work 😓 but it’s only for a season eventually it will get better
It will Brother One day at a Time..🙏🏽
Love your videos Stephen. I’m taking electrical classes in September because of you!
Congratulations on the new Journey, I really hope you enjoy it. You Got This!🙏🏽

It's good to be a presenter of something but you should show more of this bag for example if you want someone to watch next video or subscribe,I didn't understand good this video because of lack of explain and bag
I appreciate it Thanasis, I’ll try to do better next time. Thanks!👍🏽
It's not worth the time effort or headache for no pay. The testing is ridiculous kids don't waste your years you don't have to do work this awful.
I’m sorry about your experience. It’s definitely other things to do but to each is own..
I’m 18 coming straight out of high school and been wanting to become an electrician. The thing is I don’t know where to start. I’ve been recommended a 6 week certification course but don’t know if it’s worthy, any tips?
What’s up Andres! Congratulations on graduating High School! You have a few options you can go to trade school for electrical if you would like or you could start with a company with know experience & learn like that. It really depends on your situation, if your parents are ok with you going to school it’s nothing wrong with that either. I went the route of just working with know experience because of my situation. I would pray on it & you’ll make the right decision. Don’t be to hard on yourself, You Got This!🙏🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman thanks for the advice! So my first step would be to contact electrical companies to see if they need apprentices?
I’m not sure where your located but in Texas We have TDLR, TEXAS DEPARTMENT LICENSE REGULATION which is the website where I ordered my license from. Look at your state & they should have something similar & apply for the electrical apprentice license, mind was 20 dollars and came back in a week. It’s just good to have so when someone hires you, you will already have it..
Speedy recovery!! Also you might want hit abs last, especially on days you do squat or deadlift. If your core is tired you're more likely to get injured
You know my doctor said the same thing, But I hate Abs that’s why I do them first to get it over with. But I think you’re right! Thanks for the support Brother..🙏🏽
Glad to know you're alright, brother. Just take it easy and slowly get back into the swing of things and you'll be just fine.
Yes sir, The stretching, Icing & Medicine has helped but I feel like it’s getting better day by day… Definitely easing back into it..Thanks for the support Brother!🙏🏽

Speedy recovery brotha man!

Hope all is well. I’m also getting into the electrical field. Your videos have been very informative about the day to day of electrical apprentice
Thank you Brother, Definitely taking it day by day.. Congratulations on the new Journey, Come with the right mindset & You Got This..🙏🏽
hey man In the fall I'm going to college and I'm interested of being a electrician and i was wondering if I should do the Electrician Assistant (Certificate) or a Electrician Technology (Associate of Applied Science) sorry if this seems dumb I'm just new. thanks
What’s going on Bryy! I haven’t heard anything about the certification but I have heard about the electrical associate degree, I think the associate is 2 years & the certification is a few weeks. I don’t see anything wrong with both but I would still try to see if you could get an electrical job while in school if you can. They do hire with know experience so I think you’ll be fine. Just come with right mindset. You Got This..🙏🏽
I ended up going to trade school and went with electrical technology, although my local community college had it as a diploma program instead of an associates degree, some others in that same school system had the associates version. In my state, a certificate basically is equivalent to a few months work at most for interviews and doesn't count towards the license, while the diploma/degree is equivalent to 2 years for your journeyman's license. Some companies also have their own schools that they run, they are typically equivalent to the diploma/associates programs. Your state may vary from mine so look into your state's licensing program, but my experience with trade school was pretty positive. If you can afford it, the associates will likely have you doing a variety of things, some stuff i did in school was residential wiring, plc and robotics programming, motor controls and wiring, transformer wiring, and code classes, while the certificate will possibly be a cheaper but more focused way to get into the trade. Neither are guaranteed job finders though, it might be equivalent to x amount of years in the trade, but some companies will snub you because you hadn't been on a site before (some schools will take you to job sites though) or didn't have experience with their specific brand of PLCs or robots that they deal in if you're going for Industrial/controls technician stuff. My best advise is to network with current and retired electricians and do well in school, especially be willing to ask your teacher questions and be active in class discussions. If you show an interest and willingness to learn, you will likely be able to not only learn from them, but get good references for your future applications. As bad as it sounds, if you get to talking to an electrician at a company and they decide to vouch for you, you'll likely get priority status for interviews even when you've been previously snubbed. The more relevant references you can get, the better your application looks too. Also, keep your resume short and sweet, use blue font on some important parts to make them pop while the rest is black if youre doing it in word or google docs, and make a portfolio of things you've done. For example, if you've took the asvab in highschool and did well in the electrical or mechanical section, put that on your application and scan and print copies of it for your portfolio. If you've done woodwork, potentially mention it and have some pictures. If you go to trade school, take pictures and videos of your work and make sure its working well in them to prove what you've done. Even if it doesn't come up in the interview, its good to fall back on, and it will show that you're handy and willing to put in effort. Even something as simple as playing around with some Arduino or raspberry pi kits or replacing an outlet at your house will help in an interview. Id say bring at least 3 copies of both your portfolio and resume for small companies (think local business, maybe 50 workers total), 1 for you and 2 for interviewers, and at least 8 for anything larger. You might not use them even, they may print your resume out from your application, but its best to show preparedness. If you show up empty handed, theyre likely to think that youll show up to the job without tools or will overlook important details. Dress nice and talk about the future you want, not about the pay you want. Talk about wanting to learn skills, teach people in the future, provide for your family better in the future, make them proud, etc. You want to make them imagine you with them in 20 years instead of leaving them in 20 days for another company because of better pay. Obviously discuss pay and benefits, but leave that for later on, preferably hold off on pay until you get an offer, but ask about benefits in the interview. Ask them interesting questions too instead of just formated interview questions, because they hear them a dime a dozen. Frankly it took this and a little more to get an apprenticeship in my state. I hope this will help you out, and make sure to keep your head up even when you stumble along the way. Id get down when things didn't go my way in an interview, but it's better to keep going through it than giving up. Expect failure but strive for success. I wish you the best of luck man, you'll do just fine regardless though if you stick to it
@@jaythus3181 Couldn’t have said it Better..🙏🏽
I live in Florida near tampa where can I start at
It looks like you guys have a IEC program in Florida also, I would go to your nearest one and ask them a few questions.. You got it Brother!👍🏽
I saw in another video you said you were in Texas, and in IEC, I'm looking into becoming an apprentice with them, but I've heard some people say they pay pretty bad compared to if you joined IBEW. How's your experience been with them so far? Really wanting to be an electrician but can't decide if I want to go the union route or not
Thanks for reaching out, I don’t work or go to school with IEC. When I went to the IEC they told me that I needed to put in an application & that the application will be sent out to Electrical contractors in my local area. They also told me that if one of the companies decided to hire me that the company could pay for me to go to there IEC school once a week but I would still be working with the company who hired me. Hopefully that helps some. Congratulations on your new journey Brother!👍🏽
I plan on joining the Navy to learn the electrician trade, salute to everyone chasing any trade field!
Salute to you Brother for joining the navy, Hope you enjoy the journey & Thanks for the support!🙏🏽
Dude, your JW should have had you use 90s off the pipe and into the back of the Gen.
I’m not sure why we didn’t that’s just what he wanted to do..
how old were you when you started
I was 30 years old!👍🏽
Just passed my aptitude and I wish I could tell my grandma in person she also passed and it definitely is weird without her I feel you on that.
Congratulations Brother so happy for you man! So Sorry to hear about your grandmother try to keep your head up & Keep making her proud..🙏🏽
how did you get an apprenticeship?
I applied online for electrical apprentice license, and applied to a place called IEC & that’s were the company I work for saw my application gave me an interview & I got the job..🙏🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman did you go to a trade school? because im in one right now and do you know if they can find a job for me that can get my license because i went to the job fair and their offering like solar pannel or working on like a boat.
I live in Texas, so I went to TDLR.Com & purchased my license from there I think it was 20 dollars & it came in the mail in about week. No sir I didn’t go to Trade School just got my license & started applying. I would call everyone in your local area and tell them a little about yourself and that you’re interested in joining the trade & you have your license.. Someone will give you an opportunity!👍🏽
Love the vids 🙌🏻
Thanks Brother..🙏🏽
Did you just apply somewhere as an apprentice? Or are you in trade school ? 30 yr old right here trying to get into this career.
I applied to a place called IEC, Then someone called me for an interview and that’s how I got started. Someone will definitely give you an opportunity. If I were you I would go ahead and get your electrical apprentice license so you’ll already have it. Hope that helps some!
Hey man, watched all your videos already, and something I’d think is really cool for videos is some tool reviews, with footage on the job, since they are crucial to do our job. I know Klein has the Klein crusaders / Klein tradesman club, where you might be able to become a product tester/reviewer! Just an idea my guy, best of luck!
I really appreciate it, I never thought about doing something like that.. But I think that would be a great idea & would also be informative to other electrical apprentices out there. Thanks again for the Support & Advice!🙏🏽
Just started as a helper about a month ago. Love every second of it. I can definitely respect the trade a lot more
Congratulations, I’m glad you like it & that everything is going great.. Enjoy the journey..🙏🏽
I started at 10 dollars an hour to 25 an hour in 4 years lol. It's even higher on base jobs. I start my new job Monday. Most money I've ever made. I'd be even further ahead if I started in my 20's.
That’s a Blessing Brother, Hopefully one day I can get there..🙏🏽
What part of Texas are you in?
👀
Please educate us brother peace ☮️
Yes sir!🙏🏽
Hey brother, 20 year old data guy here. Just wanted to stop in and say you are a phenomenal person. You are an inspiration to so many people so please keep up the great work. You are encouraging so many to be grateful for what they have and to keep a smile on your face. Never stop creating content and continue to smile, it’s contagious
Thank you Brother, I’m just trying to show people out there that there’s other things to can make a career out of & that it’s never too late to start a new career! Thank you for support I truly appreciate it. One Day At A Time.. 🙏🏽
I absolutely love my rigid boxes, I'm not a pro but for a guy who helps his buddies with their home remodels couple times a year its perfect
Appreciate it Benjamin, Rigid is my favorite by far.. Hopefully they have a good sale on them and I can possibly pick it up then!🤞🏾
I am currently a junior in high school and want to get more information on becoming an electrician. Do you know if going to a 2 year trade school is better than an apprenticeship for Ibew.
How you doing Sebastian, Honestly I think trade school is good. I think going to school & having someone teach you the book while working on electrical things in a controlled environment I think is a great thing. I’m a little older so I thought it was best for me to go the apprenticeship way so that I would get paid to learn & get some experience. I’m not sure if they do that at trade school.. I could be wrong. Keep your head up you’ll be fine either way!👍🏽
I use the ryobi set half boxes, small box, medium, and large and a 2 drawer system, they come with these small cubes to put stuff in
Antonine I haven’t really looked into the Ryobi ones, I’ll definitely give it a look.. Hopefully they have a good deal on them!👍🏽
That’s good being an electrician is a serious safety focus job. from apprentice to journeyman to master that’s what you need to do. I hope you do.😊
Yes sir! Will do..👍🏽
If you plan on staying with a system for a long time, I'd stick with Ridgid. I've had my boxes for 8 or 9 years now and have had no issues. Look at how the wheels are attached and how sturdy the latches are on whatever box you like the most. Those are the two things that will fail first. Always remember buy the best tool you can afford.
Thanks for the advice! I’m really leaning towards Rigid hopefully they have a nice sale on them soon!👍🏽
