Yo this may seem like a retarded question, how has it been trying to get workouts in while being an electrician? I workout and am considering becoming one and one of my thoughts off the top of my head was wondering how drained I would be. Again, might sound like a retarded question but for people that enjoy working out, its not. I'm almost 32 years old and decently fit. I been trying to watch videos to see how physical this job actually is and if you can avoid fucking up your body long term, its legit the only concern I have.
@@kingdavid8178 How you doing Brother, I definitely understand the concern that was a concern I had myself when I started. I would say the job is physically demanding at times but one of the best things I feel like you can do is eat right and make time for your workouts whether it’s 30 min or a hour. For me I try to make time for my workouts the best I can, in the trade a lot of people aren’t going to be doing those things so try not fall into what everyone else is doing.. You Go This Brother!👍🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman Well my issue is I am almost 32 years old. I make about $18 an hour but basically almost had a mid life crisis due to understanding I massively screwed up not having any clear direction in my life and thinking "oh I have so much time to figure this out". I came to the realization that so called "time" is going to fly by without taking action immediately. I tried to narrow down what I want to do with my life, right now I have it narrowed down between becoming an Electrician or doing something finance related. I looked at the trades and Electrician seems more interesting to me, and because I seem more interested in it, I would assume it would keep me more focused on studying things if I have some interest vs a trade I am not interested in. I've always been interested in finance things as well. Because of my age at 32 I am looking at it like the finance route may put me into debt, then I'll be paying debts off for years, as well as if I wanted to start a family that debt would make my life harder in the short term. The pro of it was it wouldn't be physical. Electrician I was looking into due to hearing I could possibly go through an apprenticeship with no debt or very little. I can earn money while learning it and maybe if I wanted to start a family I could do so sooner or in a better situation earlier then if I want the other route. The majority concern for me is basically the physical aspect wondering what will happen to my body over years if I go down this path. I lacked direction and decided to take action, I listed every possible work I ever thought of and as of right now it's basically coming down for me to go the electrician route or finance route. I honestly don't know what else to do with my life career/work wise so I think making a choice is better than making no choice, and I did put some thought into it, so it's not like a blind guess. I live in Pennsylvania and was going to try to go the Union route IBEW although I hear it's competitive, they aren't taking applications where I am at until January so I thought maybe I can use this time to study some of the math I need to relearn/learn. I am pretty solid on basic math, and a lot of the algebra, probably need to study some geometry and maybe basic electrical stuff idk. I have friends and family who want me to work with them, but they have jobs, not careers. I am looking for something I can make a good living to create the life I want. I know you get pay increases the further you are into an apprenticeship, so both this and finance was the only things that had a good paying future that seemed to make any sense for me. I found your video because I was trying to see what my life would kind of look like if I went down this path, of course I have those retarded doubts in my head but I just tell myself those are bullshit voices holding me back and making excuses for me not to try something new. I noticed you was in the gym in the video so because I always enjoy working out that's why I asked you that question. The only concern I had with being an electrician was wondering how bad my body will get jacked up, I don't smoke, don't drink alcohol, I could definitely watch how I am eating and staying hydrated like you said. The college route just seems like a bad deal for me at this point. The real pro to it was the fact later on I wouldn't have to do something physical. Thank you for your response and making the video because this is helpful for people in a similar situation as mine who are trying to decide what to do with their life. Good luck, and thanks.

Congratulations Brother! Excited for your new journey!🙏🏽
That’s what’s up Esteven keep it up I’m also an apprentice for electrician as well
I’m 17 and a senior and trying to become an electrician I know I wanna do an apprenticeship how do you get into that process of getting options to pick from?
@@dtbtrench1153 How you doing Brother, sorry for the late response.. I’m not sure the state you live in but you have the possibility of going to trade school or join a union or open shop. If you choose the open shop route I would call all of your local electrical shops and let them know you’re interested in becoming electrical apprentice. Apply for your license online which should be $20, Hopefully that helps some.. Definitely enjoy your last year in High school, You Got This!👍🏽

Are you going have to use algebra expression as an electrician?
@@MoneyMeris To be honest I’m not sure about using Algebra expressions, But math is definitely involved when using things like OHMs Law & Voltage drop calculations..
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman Ok I’m just checking because right now I’m in college getting my basics and this math class is kicking my ass. I’m thinking I’m probably not even gonna use this as an electrician. 😂
Question bro how do you know which wire goes where? I’m thinking about becoming an electrician and I watch videos to gain knowledge!!
Working with the VFD wires, they had a lot of things labeled I was working with the engineer so they basically told where everything needed to go I just needed to make sure it was nice and neat.👍🏽

Being in the union does it guarantee work all year long or do you get laid off often?
I ask because I want to leave an office job but worried about only working 9 months a year.

Ibew local 60 here in san antonio . As a 4th year apprentice ive never been laid off always had steady work even thru covid times. Also as a student you're pretty much guaranteed work. Lets say i was to get laid off from my current contractor . I'd simply call the school and they'd have me with a new contractor the next day. 👍🏾

What is the pay starting out of school
With know experience it might not be a lot depending on were you live, But you’ll work your way up!👍🏽
would you say math is needed a lot and if so is it challenging??
You will have to use some math when trying to figure out pipe fill calculations, Voltage Drop & Ohms Law But it’s definitely something that you will get better at over time.👍🏽

What kinda electrician apprenticeship is this? Residential, commercial or industrial?
We do it all Jacob, But mostly Residential & Commercial!
How long do you work in day as electrician apprentice.
We typically work 8 hours a day unless the job that we’re doing runs over..
Do you get to relax a lot in between jobs during the day
What are the hours like?
@@mukbangboss1783 Your typical 40 hours a week, it could vary sometimes just depends on who you are working for.

I want to ask to become a Electrician Journeyman do you have to have experience working in the field?
To be an Electrical Apprentice you don’t have to have any experience at all, to be a journeyman yes you need experience and certain amount of hours you have to hit, then you have to pass your journeyman test..👍🏽

@@Thewolfofcandy Didn’t understand??
