Can you put Ford car Wide-5 wheels on a 9N or 2N tractor?
มุมมอง 290ปีที่แล้ว
The question comes up often and is somehow even more often answered incorrectly. I just had a painful argument with a guy over two days, which abruptly ended when he finally realized that he had car hubs on his tractor, which allowed him to "swap wheels."

I didn't know Hudson became Nash and then AMC. Cool history!
The Cobra name for this engine is hilarious for such a little self destructive engine. One issue they had was the water in the engine could attack the copper when the ph was off and it would leak everywhere.
Ok - you need to reach out to some engine rebuilders on YT and see about getting that rebuilt and running. for what? Don't know. Lawnmower? LOL - that is a cool find though. A piece of history.
That is a super rad piece!
Merry Christmas, and a happy new Engine!
That's a well engineered product. Looks solidly built. Ford was ahead of his time. Wish he was not an anti-semite. His production line concept was more briliant than his car - which as also brilliant.
Idk if you mentioned it, but i would add a pcv valve. Those old engines didnt have crankcase ventilation, and that caused a lot of em to gunk up and eventually die.
@@cmw184 They vent through the fill cap, plus I have the transmission cover vent.
They gummed up because they had non detergent oil in them back then and some people kept running it because of fudd lore that detergent oil would hurt them, based on cases where people changed over filthy engines without desludging them first and clogged them up.
Where do you get the rebuild done at? And how much?? Thanx!
Really happy you have it back and can get back on the project
How much extra HP does the head add?
Based on my research, the Giant Power is very similar to the Waukesha-Ricardo, and I found this comment from a dyno test: "Compared to the stock head, the Waukesha-Ricardo head produces a 14 percent increase in peak power and a 9 percent increase in peak torque."
Looks spiffy.
For painting the raised lettering, I tend to you a Q-tip. Yeah, it takes longer but allows for better control. Nice video sir.
Lucky me. My bike from 1978 still runs. No need for mechanicing.
@@robertengland8769 Lucky you.
It's crazy how that bike got wrecked but the heads and valve covers don't appear to have a mark on them. How far down are you taking it?
@BrickHouseBuilds I'm going to try to delicately get it un-seized, and if it turns over OK, I'll probably leave the crank in. I'll also pull the lifters and sneak a peak from below and if things look decent, won't pull the cam either. I will do all the crankcase seals, so flywheel and timing cover will come off. So fairly deep, but not all the way.. if I can get away with it.
Keep up the good work! - T
Definitely excited to see this live on!
I've rebuilt my T engine but it was not as rough as that for sure, it was running. Nice job, hope it works out. Mine has the original cast iron pistons in it. They are fun and interesting cars.
Thanks for making this video man, i had dropped my buell YEARS ago and the only way you can shift is by holding the clutch in and UP as hard as u can. That led to missed gears and eventually the drivebelt snapping. I was able to recently get the same buell as an organ doner, so i planned on swapping the clutch and cable through primary. So this video helps me a ton dude. I cant wait to get to this tomorrow
Youre a legend
Haibe Giant Power head, about 5/1 compression ratio.
Thank you. I may have same problem. Much appreciated.
Yea, I trim those gaskets too. The #51 jets were the stock size for the 239 ci engine.
68-69 are under appreciated. They make great daily drivers. You might want to separate the body from the pan to do all the rust work. Great video.
@@davekeehn8388 Yup, I'm going to pull the body and do the pan once I get some space in my shop.
Thanks for the video. A guy told me a few years ago; if you're removing rusted bolts, and you're not concerned with saving the bolt, just turn the bolt head to tighten it, and it will many times break easier, than trying to hold both the nut, and the the bolt head. 😃
Jewel in the ruff gonna be sweet
On my '99 Silverado, It was caused by a bad connection with a little wire plugged in near the ignition switch. Clean the contact (or just unplug it and plug it back in a few times) and it will work fine. Or did on mine at least
Make a rod out of it lower ,fenders ,v8...lol
Ijust drill a hole in the top cover in the general area of where the pin needs to be depressed, I kind of know where, you can tell from this video. But that is for chaning just the key and cylinder, to change the switch, top cover has to come off,but the cylinder holds it from coming off, so removing that, or the trim ring allows cover to come off.
Ive been through the relearn on my '98 Sierra dozens of times. It started after an attempted theft. It appears yours has been through a theft attempt? Finally, I replaced the ignition switch/wiring harness to permanently solve the problem. Part number 26061331 BTW where you think the last owner soldered in a resistor, it comes that way from the factory.
Just my opinion but the previous owner tried the same fix you were about to attempt thinking that it would solve the issue permanently, it failed. Proving that it's not a permanent solution and you have the collum opened up I think replacing the failed part is the best option and move on from this.
Pretty much the exact same story for me too but I listened to the wrong know-it-all and put a direct positive line to the s terminal on the solenoid. Zero power anywhere is where I'm at. Mine's a 92 regular cab manual trans. I don't understand - my old starter was wired with a direct, 2 g wire from the positive battery terminal to the starter motor as well as a 10 gauge another terminal for the solenoid. No idea how the heck my fusible links get power because I cannot find 10 gauge wire running from the positive battery terminal to that initial fusible link for your hood light. I have no power no nothing right now after I shorted my battery.
Any recommendation by BHB has gotta be worth a watch 😁 New subscriber 👍
🤘
Amazing how far that bike has come.
Dang that front and rear flange detail is new to me! So happy to see this bike being brought up to the level it deserves
i have a double sided flange sign that matches this.
G day from Ontario.. Boy interesting, kinda like a old trail plough lift except u have to move for that Ths
Thanks for your vid, got my few brain cells rubbing together enough to pick up a multi-meter and find the gremlin. Spoiler alert: did you know water can get INSIDE a wire and corrode away the core?
At 16:16 that tail light is 49 Chevy, wow that is some great parts
Thanks, dude that really help
Interesting work! As for your shifter. There are to ball baring units on each side of the transmission housing. Sometimes probably due to moisture, the ball bearings can slowly rust in place. You can remove the ball bearings’ get rid of the moisture and squirt some bearing grease into the two holes and the ball bearing were move easily and you shifting to your four gears should be easy. Good luck.
I have a 1929 ford model a roadster pickup truck
Did you continue to use the disable links or did you do away with them??
I got an original 8 BA carb at a garage sale and I don’t know how much it’s worth. Decent condition and could be cleaned up real well. Any ideas?
I have a vehicle the same as yours it turns over but the not start
There is a tractor hub that has no drum for the wide 5 wheels.
For the wide 5 tractor wheels, yes. I've shown it in this video.
are you going to show more of build
Yes, the engine is currently getting Babbitt poured and crank ground. I'll have updates soon.
fantastic,love your content@@nathan.kostelecky
What are those oempistons, cast iron? they don't look aluminum, the aluminum set will let it spin faster, and they look like high compression.
Why not start push a pressure washer
I have shot a lot of vid on model t and model a. I built two out of junk. And i legally drive them both regularly. Including today 😊
Not sure what the goal is but some times the old parts are just a waste of time. Ive got a few myself.
