Been sewing for years……never made my husband anything 😂
Don't open that door of expectation 😂
The Ressac is going to look uncredible in that pink fabric ❤❤ your whistles dress came out beautifully! See you soon xx
@@TheFrenchSeams_vlog Thanks Rachael, I'll have many experts on hand in case I get stuck! X
Enjoyed the catch up 😊 My sewing space is just like yours - spare room, ironing room and sewing space. It also has two massive bookshelves full of my parents' books (Mom is still with me, so no getting rid just yet!) So, yes, I would be very interested in a vlog discussing how to optimize a space like this.
@@jacquieblacquiere5186 I can't promise any big ideas but will happily share what works for me. Sounds like you'd have some good tips too 😊
I really like the exposed zip on your denim dress, it makes a lovely feature ❤️ I love love love the pink sweatshirting and ribbing, my pink isn’t quite as bright but it’s similar- currently in the dryer to get the shrinkage sorted before I cut into it tomorrow. Enjoy your sewing retreat, sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun! 😍
@@Julie_sews_her_own_clothes Thanks Julie, I look forward to seeing yours made up 😊
Beautiful denim dress! The fit is almost perfect. I think the drag lines on the chest are from the princess seams' fullest bust point being a bit higher then your fullest bust point. I think if you lower the princess seam apex a bit, that should fix the drag lines.
@@cookiebattle Thank you, that's such a helpful tip. I've never made a princess seam dress before, that I can remember, so that is good to know. Thank you 😊
The Check your thread podcast has just done 2 episodes on how people manage a shared space for sewing, lots of inspiration
@@lizsheridan5357 oooh thanks for the tip, I'll have a listen!
Is there a better colour than bright pink?! I think your top will be great. The denim dress looks wonderful on you and the exposed zipper is a great accent. I think the comment section of sewing vlogs is actually very social, especially for people who spend a lot of time alone, for introverts, and for those who are housebound. And even if the vlogger doesn't have time to answer each comment, a thumbs up, or a heart is fine.
@@jennetthamilton971 I agree, bright pink is such a happy colour and always gets people talking! You're right, commenting is a lovely way to interact and the sewing community is so supportive and friendly 😊
I adore your pink sweatshirt material. I love your your jumper. Thank you for sharing
@@lindarogers4188 Thank you, I'm looking forward to making it 😊
Lovely chatty video as always… I made the tracksuit pants for my boys…look forward to seeing how yours turn out…x
@@sew_with_mel Thanks. How did you get on with the pattern?
I really like your denim dress Tania....its a very versatile item. The sweatshirt/ jumper is going to look really nice too. That pattern has lots of subtle differences to other sweatshirts and Cara described it as an elevated style, which it is.
@@annettecowburn-sz8cq Hi Annette, thank you. I've got a bit of tweaking still to do with the dress pattern but I'm really pleased with it. The Ressac is lovely, would you be tempted to make it?
@@justletmesew I'm not sure I would. Only because I have a fuller bust and that seam across the front would land in an unflattering place for me.
Thank you Tania for a great video. Your dress fits beautifully. You said you were tracing your Ressac sweater is that because it is overpriced or just so you change sizes if needed? I am in two minds about whether to get the pdf or printed pattern . Thank you.
Sorry Tania, the dreaded auto correct went into action with my message, it should have said overprinted. Thank you.
@@marygreen7225 Hi Mary, it's not overprinted but the price of indie patterns does have something to do with it 😂 It's mostly to do with it being quite hard to get hold of a paper copy of it, Beyond the Pink door have some copies but not many, so if I need to recut it I might be stuck.
❤❤❤
Lovely to see you. Sorry to hear you’ve all been poorly. x
@@debbiecarter6430 Thank you, all feeling much better now thankfully 😊
Fantastic to see you Tania. Love your recreation of the Whistles dress, I can imagine you’ll wear it an awful lot. Love love love the pink sweatshirting. Can’t wait to see that made up. Lots of love ❤❤❤

Hi Tania. Your whistles inspired denim dress looks really good 😊 Enjoy your sewing weekend. Probably more than we can complete but hey, it’s good to have ambition in sewing. I look forward to seeing what you manage to get done 😊

@@SewCraftyGal Thanks 😊
Your 'Whistles' dress looks great! It looks like it'll be such a wearable, versatile piece. I've had good experiences with the Amazing Fit line of patterns.
@@chlomo2618 Thank you, I agree it's going to be really useful 😊
Regarding the Whistles dress, you might want to check where the full bust point is on the pattern. It might be that rather than needing a dart. I usually have to lower the bust point, and had to lower the point on the princess seam when I made the Nina Lee Camden pinafore. A blog review I read showed the maker had a lot of fabric on the upper chest area and at that time the pattern did not have the bust point marked. I only recently bought the pattern so the bust point had been added. I've just made a coat and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The pattern company (Love Notions) suggested making a muslin using the lining pieces, and that worked well and I could see that I had to size down.
Agreed! The bust points maybe look a little off where they need to be, maybe sitting a bit high. Lovely job though, especially on the neckline adjustment and zip
@@Yorkygirl59 Thank you, I'll take a look at the bust point. I think I also need to go down a cup size. Thanks for the tip on using the lining as a muslin, that will save a bit of time too 😊
@@buzzi2k Thank you so much, really helpful! 😊
Hi Tania, good to see you. Currently about 9.30pm here in Oz and I battling with my first try at a yoke and collar using the burrito method. Don’t ask me how it’s going. Not happy with quality of instructions. Anyhoo, would love to see your current sewing nook and the ideas that others bring forward. Oh, and I now have spousal guilt as I have yet to make my husband ANYTHING. I have a shirt pattern that I should get out and make up for the warmer weather…at least I will hopefully be able to do the burrito method😅!
@@JulieH1958 Hi Julie, good luck with the burrito method, I've only done it a couple of times. Don't feel guilty, you're honing your skills in preparation 😉 Thanks for watching 🌸

@@ZeldaSews me too, but sewing is a 3D puzzle so it's no surprise 😊
Hi Tania! 👋 I like your self-drafted shirt with the sleeve ruffle! I love ruffles.
@@ZeldaSews Hi Zelda, thank you. It's really easy to do and adds a bit of drama 😉
I had to chuckle at the story about your daughter quickly changing her mind from “black is best” to “oh I’ll still wear mermaids” 😂 Kids are funny and fickle so I’m glad she came around to the fabric. Her outfit looks so fun and cute! I’m also awful about covering my machines. For some reason I feel like it’ll be SO much work to take the covers on and off. The handle on top of your cover is a great idea!
@@ErinSews oh Erin, the struggle is real 😂 she worn the outfit once after I suggested giving it away...now won't wear it anymore! Think of taking the machine covers off like a mini workout 😆
Congratulations on such a lovely and successful event! I know your outfit took a lot of time but WOW it came out so well (tsk tsk on the hem 🙄 totally kidding!).

Love the overlocker cover. Great idea. My machines are also never covered.😢
Good to know I'm not the only one, I'm sure there's lots of us 😉
I have the Brigit pattern, but haven't made it yet. I'm making a Freya top at the moment. Your video made me realize the fabric I'm using would probably be good for the Brigit. Luckily, I have another piece of the same fabric in another color. You've inspired me to go for it, with caution, ha ha! It's such a lovely shirt!
Hi Tammy, it's a lovely top but just a couple of points to watch out for and crack first. Enjoy making it 😊
so sorry about your cat. We have had several cats over the years and saying goodbye is just so heartbreaking. The first cat we had was very grumpy with anyone she didnt know. She lived to 19 years and losing her was awful. I was her best friend and she trusted me completely. Taking her to the vet for that last time felt like a betrayal. But it was the best thing to do. You deserve a spending spree after that. Good luck for the future.
@@diannehinksman4283 Hi Dianne, your old lady sounds very special, they take a piece of us with them. You're right, it felt like a betrayal but being able to ease their suffering is the kindest thing to do 😞 We still miss our old lady so much.
People often rave about Closet Core Patterns' instructions, but I have sometimes found them to be unclear for more involved techniques. Which makes me feel a bit dim and/or gaslit 🙃 For the stand collar, to see if it was a cutting error, or if the fabric stretched out, or if it's an issue with the pattern, I'd check the pattern pieces against each other. You could measure the stitching lines that are supposed to be sewn together, using a tape measure standing up on its edge so that you can measure along the curves. If there is no easing to be done, the measurements should be the same. The other way is to 'walk' the pattern pieces together along the seamline to check their lengths match, which, again, they should if they are to be sewn together without any easing required. (Google Threads magazine 'How to Walk the Seamline').
I love the coord set you made for sewfizzteacated, I ordered a copy and I’m looking forward to giving it a go. I’m toying with the idea of a jacket weighted fabric, upsizing and wearing a turtleneck underneath… it looks good in my mind 🤣🤣 I made the Friday pattern co square neck top and stretched the front neck as my sewing machine decided to eat the seam twice 🤣 I did eventually make it again and thankfully, the second effort was wearable
Hi Julie, your coord plan sounds great. I live the idea of a heavier fabric to make a jacket, genius! I'll give the squares neck another go and report back, I'm going to try making the lining slightly smaller so it pulls it in a tiny bit, like you would with a neckband x
If you want a sewing machine cover pattern, closet core do a free pattern for sewing machine and overlocker. I've made both and they are great
@@jeanettespracklen5777 Thanks Jeannie, I'll take a look 😊
