It's been awhile since I was able to get over to Oregon's Southcoast to do some rockhounding. I went to my favorite spot and had an amazing time! I found some cool fluorescent minerals AND got to see the borealis!! WOW! Super cool experience ^^ I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did making it. My Favorite Spot to Rockhound in Oregon

Right above the killer whale toy there was the most massive quartz+ stone! i cant believe you didn't grab it !! lol 24:17
Really?! Dangit!! Thanks for watching ^^
No, it's not the highly sought after serpentine. It's just that lousy nephrite jade that just gets in the way.
lol, thanks for watching bud ^^
What is "intarzhen?" I spelled it phonetically, so I'm sure it's spelled incorrectly. Sorry!
Stone Intarsia is a term for the inlay technique of using cut and polished stones to create an image. Its history traces back to Italy and the Renaissance, where it was called pietre dure, meaning “hard stones” Thanks for watching ^^
Im
^^
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Do you ever go out glide area? North Umpqua.
Not as often as I should. Thanks for watching
@TheRougeRockhound. Nice find!
Thanks!!
Now what do you do with them
Cut and polish, give to friends & supporters, repeat ^^ I've also got some new projects w/ this material on the way so stay tuned! Thanks for watching!!
Good luck climbing up that muddy trail with a back pack full of rocks.
Will do ^^ Thanks for watching!!
I have always wondered why there is so many chips and no real big chunks up there
B/c they are underground ^^ Thanks for watching!!
I’m lovin’ the brachiated jaspers!
Some of my favorite ^^ Thanks for watching!!
Have come across any Turquoise rocks when you are out hunting for rocks?
Not in Oregon. I do have a friend who owns a Royston Blue claim though ^^ Thanks for watching!!
I live on the coast and enjoy your videos because I am not always sure what rocks I am picking up are. Will you tell me what beach you are on with this video so I may go there to. Don’t worry I won’t take them all. 😅
Otter point near Gold Beach Thanks for watching!!
Can you find the serpentine in Oregon?
This entire video was filmed in SW Oregon. Outside of Medford. Thanks for watching!
Do you tumble these I live about an hour south would like to try
You absolutely can tumble these. Thanks for watching!!
Stay to the public areas, it is mostly private property, and National Forest has active mining claims on the river.
You've got me watching rock videos and im not even into rocks😂
Thats the spirit!!! Thanks for watching ^^
Ah, I see someone else that knows about my spots in White City. I've found lots in this area over the years and worn out several tumblers making them shiny and smooth.
Best spots in the valley ^^ Thanks for watching!!
It's funny what videos that show up that I've missed seeing but nice as well. This was very fun to watch you beach combing. Did you get your big yellow stone? There were some really nice colors out there.
I didnt haul it up the trail. It was too big ^^ Thanks for watching!!
14:45 That jasper at the end would make a sick set of dice
That would be awesome!! Thanks for watching ^^
I done a lot of excavation in my day around the train trellis on the old hwy.found lots of agate between there an the summit. Lots of prime petrified wood on the summit . i dug up a complete tree near colstien and summit area. Got a 11 pound agate in bear creek.
I bet you were loving it ^^ Thanks for watching!!
This is great, but I wonder what do you do with all of these rocks? Are you polishing them and selling? Making jewelry? I think it’s a great thing rock hounding, don’t get me wrong. But I imagine over time it’s a lot of rocks.
I mostly give them away and add them to my garden/collection. I'll be making more stuff with my finds soon though ^^ Thanks for watching!!
Here in Medford myself. This area your in is one of my favorite spots. You've given me a new hike to take. Your discards are better than my normal finds! Well done and I hope to cross paths with you someday!
If you see me in the wild, say hi man. Best of luck out there!! Find some good stuff ^^ Thanks for watching!!
Check out hisea muck boots, been wearing them three years as mudlarking and short hiking boots, im in michigan so its often pretty muddy, i have the insulated ones because those are what i throw on in the morning to go get my chickens ready and they are really good in the snow, best 50 bucks i ever spent on footwear!
Thanks for the advice! I just got some LaCrosse wellies and look forward to using them. Thanks for watching!!
Thirsty snek

I love the video - don’t know anything about the rocks but I want to learn
Thanks for watching!! If you ever have questions, feel free to ask ^^
Would you be so kind as to share this location? I live in Oregon and am just starting to explore the beaches more south. Went to Bandon last weekend. It was beautiful but I still haven’t managed to find a beach with treasures like that yet.
Applegate Lake > Jackson County > Bowenite aka Oregon Jade Otter Point > Coos County > Gold Beach > Jasper, agates, etc. You can also message me on IG and I can give you other locations ^^ Thanks for watching!!
@@TheRogueRockhound 🎉 thank you!!! I just followed your IG page too. Happy hunting and I look forward to sharing some locations!!! 🙏
I just bought a home in Chiloquin ... what type of rocks can my wife and I find out that way?? Any gold??
Send me a message on FB/IG, I'll send you some GPS locations ^^ Thanks for watching!!
Please leave intact shells for the hermit crabs. Toss them back after admiring. Otherwise, hermits have to live in yucky things like old bottle caps.
Dont worry, I leave nearly all of what I find. I definitely dont keep everything I find lol, that would be absurd ^^ Thanks for watching!!
@@TheRogueRockhound Oh good! I get down that way from time to time. It's fun to see what I might look for next trip.
Nice
Thanks for watching!!
Alota rocks there im finding filling my head to be a quick prosses so how long till yours filled up , no wait i wanted to ask what you do with all your finds ?
Give them to people mostly ^^ Thanks for watching!!
Is this on the creek off Worthington?
Thats the spot ^^ Thanks for watching!!
The colors are amazing! I’m a bit behind on vids, I blame YT 😂😂 💜💜💜 Your close ups are great! Those little crystals in that last rock were awesome!!
I'll have to take you guys here before too long. Its legitimately my favorite spot because of...well, everything ^^ Its evolving too. Every year, as the coastline erodes away, you get new rocks and changes to the landscape. Id love to do a long timelapse of it to show people one day. Thanks for watching!! and I'll chat w/ ya soon!!!
there could be a place at each end of motor to apply a DROP of oil.
Thanks for the tip man. I'll have to give that a look-see. I bought the unit secondhand so it could go either way ya know. Thanks for watching man, much appreciated!!
I'm in Tillamook for the next few days. Are you anywhere near here?
omg! Sorry for the late reply!! Unfortunately, I was not in the Tillamook area at that time as I had just left for my vacation. I'll be back to S. Oregon at the end of the month though. Winter is the best time to rockhound Oregon ^^ Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful pieces, big and small at both spots! Hoping tomake it out there in the spring after the thaw. Question...the chisel hammer with the yellow handle you used at Glass Butte, where'd you get that!?! I'd love to add that style to my collection! As always, thanks for sharing and the helpful info!
Hey! Sorry for the late reply!! Hammer > www.amazon.com/DeWalt-20OZ-1PC-Bricklayer-Hammer/dp/B07K4YQFX8 Thanks for watching!!

All of those translucent slabs would make awesome night stand lamp shades. Not too hard to make those either.
My brother wants some to make a lamp. Hopefully I'll be able to show everyone when he does Thanks for watching!
