Interesting topic, as a Swede I see no problem if they sing in Swedish or English. Now it is the case that English is the most accessible language today, if it had been Spanish, German or French or any other language, it would probably be our second language. That bands from other countries use the World Language is understandable, they want to reach as many people as possible when releasing their creative creation. Personally, I think that other languages can be very interesting to listen to, when you don't understand the language, their singing becomes more like an instrument and can be a nice addon to the song instead. That bands like German Rammstein hit the whole world by singing in their own language is fantastic. When you think about other countries dubbing their movies into their own language. How about if "English" speaking countries would dub foreign bands... haha. Some great Swedish music there. Cheers
Since I used to live in New Orleans, I sometimes listened to Cajun, Creole & Zydeco. I guess those were all really in French, but I had stuff like the Balfa Brothers (La Danse des Mardi Gras}, Jo-El Sonnier (Jolie Blon), and Zachary Richard (Moi Connais Pas, and also Ton Ton Gris-Gris). There was one band that was kind of unique called Mamou, and they played Cajun hard rock. 🐊🦀🦐🦞
I never heard the term Cajun rock, so i'll have to go and check it out... Creole is similar to french, but not quite... very different... I also know Zachary Richard, but somehow thought he was from Quebec... looks like he's american LOL Oups! :)
I have a few one-off songs done in other languages by English speaking acts, so they could be released in other markets. I'm pretty sure somewhere I have singles in Spanish by Journey and also by David Lee Roth. The Monkees also did one in Italian, but I think they just learned one verse and sang it over & over instead of learning the whole song. LOL
Yeah, some are hit or miss... I think DLR sings the whole song Yankee Rose in spanish... i guess he knows spanish, or more than the Monkees do? :)
That's a trip! Just 4 days ago on the Southern Rocker's channel he uploaded all the songs from that "One Vice at a Time" album by Krokus, so I've been listening to those songs this week. BTW that was the first Krokus album I ever bought, and gradually branched out later to get the others.
Yeah, One Vice at a Time is a good one too! THe first one I got was "Head Hunter" :)
I think I probably got Headhunter 2nd, then worked my way backwards, then finally started again buying forward (hmmm...makin' me dizzy). 🥴
@ 😂😂. Im missing some of the 70s ones and a few of the later ones….
Great band!
Used to avoid non-English albums, but these days I don't mind at all, once the music is decent.
same here... I couldnt stand french rock and now here I am owning some... took me a VERRRRRRRRY long time to accept it...
Like that "Filippa Nassil " you showed I had a " Nena- 99 Luftballons " album on cassette. And one side was in German the other side was the album in english. Played it to death at the time. ABBA also put out a Spainish speaking album like Diamond Dave. Its called Gracias Por La Musica, I do own it for the novelty value!. Its weird hearing the ABBA harmonies in spainish.😅
OMG, I do remember that Nena song being sung in 2 languages... I thought I had dreamt that! LOL So I wonder if that "GOLD" album from ABBA i have, which has a different title is in another lanaguage?
so many .., Accept , Helloween , Kreator , Scorpions , Blind Guardian , Sodom , Primal Fear , Krokus , Sabaton , Opeth , Europe , Roxette , The Cardigans , Ace of Base , A-Ha and more and more ..,
Oh yes there is lots! Just wondering if ppl from those countries care if they sing english 🤷🏻♂️
@@offthecharts2272 , I think the French maybe a lot more " protective " of their culture if you will .., but most of Europe for a good 40 years has adopted English , certainly Germany , most Scandanavian nations , they don't give a toss ..,
@ hmmmm interesting…. As in France? Because the example i used about Celine Dion, she is from the province of Quebec in Canada, and it is VERY french…. And they were not happy with that choice to sing english…. Just to give you an idea how Quebec are protective of their french language, there are laws in Quebec for businesses that you must advertise in french first then english (and the font in french must be bigger). That law has gone ridiculous in the past 10 years… 🙄🤷🏻♂️
@@offthecharts2272 , yeah here in Quebec , France too with their language and arts laws .., in a way to be honest I have no issue with some of that " pride " protection " of culture
@ oh i’m all for protection of culture…. But when some ice cream shop got fined for not having bilingual spoons, i was like “Come on!!!” 🙄😂😂

I don't care for non-English music. The only exception is Hawaiian. Bang is a great song. Ghost and Night Flight Orchestra are awesome!
I don't mind French music here and there (since I'm french) :) I don't know any Hawaiian music, so I can't comment on this! I do love Ghost and NFO! :) Thanks for watching and commenting!
Sepultura - Brazil Europe - Sweeden Kingdom Come - Germany EZO - Japan Victory - Germany
I did mention Europe for Sweden... I could have mentionned Kingdom Come and Victory but forgot... I do not own any EZO and Sepultura though... Sepultura: great example though!
@offthecharts2272 I don't watch your videos I just comment haaaaa also remind me later I got a source for records that might be worth it.
That Gorky Park album is great.
It's ok... Some good songs (they do a great cover of The Who's My Generation) but some songs are just ok...
One of my favorites that I don’t see anyone mentioning, Lenny Kravitz: Are You Gonna Go My Way
Not a bad choice either! Seriously never even thought of it! Oops! :)
@ too many good riffs to think of them all, that’s why you ask for ours in the comments right ?
@ of course! 😃
My Dog is a horrible track, I’ve never listened to the Saigon Kick and that was my first exposure thanks to this episode. I’m terrified to listen to the rest of the album.
LOL Don't let "My Dog" dictate how this album sounds... as you can see, I gave every song quite high marks except for "My Dog" which had a ZERO! :)
@ you did, I’m adding this album to my list of albums to check out this week.
This is super catchy and the video is like a love letter to Hammer Horror movies! Which tickles my fancy.
Oh I absolutely love this band! Fun video too! :) They have even better songs out there, IMO... I'm trying to spread the ThunderMother word out there in North America!
Dude, I love Thundermother so, so much! I was lucky enough to see them open for the Scorpions on the Black and Gold tour with their previous lineup. Plus I met Demona. I bought Black and Gold at their merch booth because I was blown away how good they were live. Just solid rock and roll. No excess, no excuses, nothing is overdone. Less is more with this band, straight forward rock n roll. Dog From Hell, I Don’t Know You, Black and Gold, Try with Love, and Whatever were the songs they played live that sold me on them. They had an 11 or 12 song setlist but those stuck out to me. They have an older song off their debut album called The Original Sin that is fantastic! The Gems album is one of my favorite from this year. Have you checked that out yet or no?
@ oh i LOVE ThunderMother also… i missed that Scorpions show in Montreal… 😞. I have all their albums! I also got the Gems album! I dont know if you saw but i managed to interview TM about 2 months ago? Prolly my proudest episode i did. 😋
If you haven't listened to Devil in the Details, everyone is really missing out. That album is in my top 50 albums of all time. The bands versatility is outstanding.
Yeah, I will definitely get "Devil in the Details" if it's ever released on vinyl (as I no longer have a CD player)... doh! :)
Once King Kobra had a hit with Ready to Strike, I think the rec company decided they wanted Icon to sound similar. This album really reminded me of that as soon as I played for the first time. Of course, it didn't help. The only highlight they had on the third album was Holy War, which had a guest vocal by Alice Cooper.
Oh my! Yes, I have all King Kobra albums... did not realise they had a similar sound (especially for the first album!) The song you are referring to is "Holy Man's War" with Alice Cooper which is actually their FOURTH album... The 3rd one is only available on cassette and CD (and very rare!) which is called More Perfect Union... Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Only thing I ever heard is a 12 inch single I got for Taking My Breath Away that has the song on both sides.. Got it free in college.
of course you got it for free... That song is my favorite from the AOR era! Great stuff!
@offthecharts2272 my old Boss used to always say there's no such thing as a free lunch and nothing was free. And I would say oh there's free lunch and free dinner too.
@ tell him I agree!
Completely unfamiliar with Icon apart from the name and an album sleeve with a bullet on it? Never heard them though. Also Wikipedia says they have 4 albums?
Great band. Hailing from Phoenix Arizona, formerly known as Schoolboys. Changed their name to ICON And put out Icon 84,Night of the crime 85,An even more perfect union 87,Right between the eyes 89. All their albums are great.
Yeah, the one with the bullet is Right Between the Eyes... the 3rd one "An Even More Perfect Union" only exists on cassette and CD... never heard it! :(
Yeah, that 3rd one needs an issue on vinyl... I never heard it and quite difficult to find!
@@offthecharts2272 I am lucky to have this third album(on cd)and its very melodic, even more than their second album. But its still very good songs on it.
@@offthecharts2272 The third one is great, very melodic and keyboard based. I am lucky to have it on cd. Very rare album.
It did go out on a bit of a whimper not a roar. I found that cockroach bug thing racing around disturbing. But if thats the first single from a new album, i would like to listen to more from them. I liked the blood going through liquid effect in the video. It looked fantastic together with the other visuals. Some interesting choices made in this song Dan.
Ya, good way to put it: Out on a whimper, not a roar... :) The cockroach thing seems to be an Easter Egg... this album cover pays homage to their first album (which has a cockroach, duct tape over one eye, and barbed wire where you see the scars on his face... It's a good song that gets better after each listen, but there is SO much more better stuff out there from them... :)
The 16 yr old in me thought the band name V.D was amusing.Very Spinal Tap!.
Hahahaha Yeah, I think that's what they were going for :)
Best band in the world! Great review

Well this is a band I only know by reputation. What I hear here...I don't mind it. I don't know how badly I need the Wildhearts in my life, but I think I would buy this based on what I hear.
@@GrabAStackofRocK if ever you are interested in getting some Wildhearts, I will suggest you even better ones than this song…. And even one of their albums is a VERY difficult listen (unless you like trebly NiN)…. So check with me first. 😋
At first when betrayed by love first came out here, I thought it was a new song that was going to be on Michael sweet New solo album. Still a great song to listen too
@@shawneldridge4465 yeah…. It’s a Stryper song alrite! But yeah, could have fit in his new solo album (does he have one coming out??). Thanks for watching and commenting! 🤘🏻
@offthecharts2272 You're welcome here for sure. I heard some rumors that he has one coming out in the fall of 2025 but I haven't heard anything. Michael is always putting solo albums out or doing different projects with different people. Michael sweet did a project, I believe it was with one of the members from LA guns. I could be wrong, so don't quote me on it here. it's called sun bomb and look for Michael Sweet and George Lynch CDs.great Music
@ yeah im aware of his many solo projects (like the one with George Lynch…. And there was one where he was wearing an eue patch in a video…. Forget the name (unless that was the George Lynch one). 😋
@@offthecharts2272 👍👍
@ 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hmmm, I just realised that Ginger's face on the album is the SAME (but 30 years later) as their first album "Earth vs The Wildhearts"... you can see the scars on here which were done by the barbed wire from the first album... there's a scorpion, duct tape on the eyes from the first album also... clever!
The song was good but the inverted crosses were corny and made no sense. I don't mind the repetitiveness of the end but I thought it would get heavy again.
The upside down crosses were there due to the title of their album (i think)... I dont mind the repetitiveness at the end, but it's a lil too long... I would have chopped off a good minute if not 2 and end with another heavy riff...
It turns into a completely different song at the halfway point. I think I prefer the first half but cool song. Like you said a bit repetitive at the end and I thought it might return to the way the song started.
I'm appreciating more the beginning riffs now after 4-5 listens... but that riff in the middle when it picks up again is my fave! Could have chopped off a good minute if not 2 at the end of the song... I also was expecting another heavy riff at the end...
Heavy Metal Shuffle is one of my favourite 80s songs about metal.
‘Tis a good album opener too! 🤘🏻
