Always interesting to hear how others rank these great albums. Here's how I do (at least today!) 1. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow 2. Rising 3. Long Live Rock n Roll 4. Stranger in us all 5. Down to Earth 6. Difficult to Cure 7-8. The other two albums. Never got into any of them even if I've tried numerous times... Blackmore is my favorite guitarist and possible favorite musician too. Maybe Jon Lord or Rory Gallagher... :)
I absolutely LOVE "Temple of the King," from Blackmore's Rainbow! I have not heard a lot of Blackmore's Night (only 2 albums), but they also covered it with Candace Night singing & Ritchie blazing on guitar, as usual.🛕👑
1. Rising (1976) 2. Long Live Rock 'n' Roll (1978) 3. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (1975) 4. Down to Earth (1979) 5. Straight Between the Eyes (1982) 6. Stranger in Us All (1995) 7. Bent out of Shape (1983) 8. Difficult to Cure (1981)
Let me try again. My ranking: 1. Rising 2. Long Live Rock'n'Roll 3. Ritchie Blackmore Rainbow (debut) 4. Down to Heart 5. Stranger in us all 6. Straight between the eyes 7. Difficult to Cure 8. Bent out of Shape It is really difficult not to include the live albums 🌈
"Since You've Been Gone" is a cool tune. I have versions by Rainbow, by Head East, and by Cherie Currie (from the Runaways ), done with her twin sister, Marie, and I love all those versions.
Thank you! To be honest, I listen to the Dio-related Rainbow a LOT more than I do any others... but, i'm a completist! :) If I wasn't, i would have stuck with the first 3 only... the others, although good at times, are QUITE different from the first 3...
PS and I tend to agree with the live album sentiment , but some are essential to get the feel and true sound of what a band once was .., I give ACDC If You Want Blood ..., as an excellent example ..,
@@Matias-music-71 definitely some live albums I love and are great…. Its just a product i dont listen to much at my age anymore… but i never liked “jam” live albums…
I love Straight Between The Eyes, and have a concert from that tour somewhere on VHS video tape. I especially like the song, "Tearin' Out My Heart," but I like Axel Rudi Pell's version better than Rainbow's own version.❤🩹
I have not investigated much of Rainbow past the Dio albums. You are not kidding about the live Jam albums.I have " Rainbow-Live In Germany 1976 ". " Mistreated " goes on for 16.30 minutes. " Still I'm sad" 15 minutes.Greensleeves I can do without😅🌈🌈🌈 Very hard for anyone to touch the class of your number one pick!.
Yeah the Dio albums are definitely my go to Rainbow albums…. Doesnt Led Zeppelin also do jams on live albums? Isnt the live version of Dazed and confused on one whole LP side?? Rainbow Rising is a classic and well worth the hype! 🤘🏻
@@offthecharts2272 On Albums, live I would go get a drink if there is a Drum solo. Are you a fan of Bass solos?. The only bass solo I can remember appreciating was Michael Anthonys one on " Live without a Net ". He had an awesome bass guitar on that. But I am not a Bass player like you. Taking up a whole side of an album with a solo of any kind is criminal😅But saying that I have a Neil young album that is mainly extended jams.
@@AttackFromDownunda hmmmmm good question.. im not even sure I saw a bass solo live…. Ive seen little 1 minute solo-ish stuff in bars…. But those usually suck…. As for drum solos, of the ones i remember, there was only two I liked: Eric Singer & Rod Morgenstein!

Fair comment on the top 4 vs the bottom 4... although I would listen to Down to Earth more than Stranger in us All... BUT... to be fair, if ever I want to listen to Rainbow, I always go towards the Dio stuff...
Love all the DIO Rainbow LPs. Aside from Straight Between the Eyes, the rest are pop fodder. 1. Long Live Rock and Roll. 2. Rising. 3. Their debut LP. I wish with their live albums, they had a much more diverse song selection. That’s my opinion..
Ya, It took me a long while to get the rest of the collection. I had the Dio albums for over 30+ years without actually even wanting to get the others... Now I have them all, but if ever I was stuck on on island, the only 3 I'd bring is the Dio ones... they still are the best! Thanks for watching and commenting!
"Mistreated" was a Deep Perplex song that Blackmore did with both Purple and Rainbow. David Coverdale has sung "Mistreated," as well as Ronnie James Dio.
