    I heard Mean Streak for the first time on the Masters of Metal compilation record. I have both of these today, vol 1 and vol 2.

    Rock and Roll's gonna save the world man! I was the only guy that knew about them in high school, nobody else was into it.

      well, to be honest - I don't have the 'special' releases. BUT now I will start looking! I can still do the lyrics for 'don't stop running' - had that song on repeat when my first girlfriend and I were on the ropes! Another one of my all time faves was Bar Room Boggie - as a high school kid, I thought that was quite naughty!!

      @ so you don’t own the last 3 albums on vinyl? Like i said, not cheap…. Especially “Facemelter”…. “Don’t Stop Running” is a great song! 😋🤘🏻

      Dave Meniketti was a huge inspiration for me. I'm always blown away by the guys that play lead and sing as well, at the same time. I'm still working on my game, 40+ years later.

      @ he DOES have great guitar chops! I mentionned that in the episode…. Great riffs and the guy can still sing!!

    My UK copy of Mean streak comes with a sew on Y n T patch..i got into them because i used to get the UK magazine Kerrang sent to me right through the '80''s here in Oz and i started from ''Earthshaker'' on wards..have to agree about the songwriting not always being ''Quite there'' but great lp's..for me ''Black Tiger'' from the early days and ''Contagious'' from later on..one of the great US hard rock bands of their time and Dave.. what a great voice and guitar player..whole band great muso's

    • @offthecharts2272
      @offthecharts2272  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh Nice! Never saw this version with a sew on patch! I've seen them appear in CDs, but not vinyl? Cool! Yeah, they were missing the catchy chorus bit earlier on in their career, but have made up for it! GREAT guitar riffs in that band I must say! Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@offthecharts2272 Most likely a limited edition in the UK..i ordered the lp on import to Oz and that was included..same with the UK edition of Riot's ''Narita'' lp that came with one as well..another great US rock band from the late '70's..for me Y n T..Riot and Kix were the shining lights of US hard rock in the early '80's but was not to be so we got Hair Metal..Thrash..Rap...very sad..went downhill pretty quick

    • @offthecharts2272

      @ ahhhhhh! Gotcha! I like Riot but their album covers and that mascot were just too disturbing…. I however loooooove Kix! 🤘🏻

    Growing up in the Bay Area I first became aware of them in 1981 when the local San Francisco radio station every Sunday night would play a new release. I was in high school just getting into rock and they played the entire Earthshaker album. I was blown away it was so good from front to back. To this day still out of all the albums I own a top 5 albums of all time. Living in the same area as the band have seen them live around 40 times. Still my favorite band. Here is my ranking and over time the order has changed but all to me are very good albums. 1. Earthshaker 2. Black Tiger 3. In Rock We Trust 4. Mean Streak 5. Face melter 6. Contagious 7. Ten 8. Musically Incorrect 9. Down For The Count 10. Yesterday & Today debut album 11. Endangered Species 12. Struck Down

      Well, at least our bottom 3 are the same eh? 😋. I understand most ppl think Earthshaker is great but for me it’s just good… dunno why (although the guitar work and playing is amazing!). Thanks for watching and commenting! 🤘🏻

      Oh yes! The speedy one a la Ratt's "BodyTalk" - GREAT song! I wish these types of bands would do more speedy songs as I've had a love for those types of songs of late! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I really enjoyed your ranking. I was going to do a Y&T video back in January or February, but the I got Struck Down and it disappointed me so much that I switched musical direction. I’m still missing the debut.
    I first herd Mean Streak the song on the radio in 1983 and I bought the cassette a week later. I followed Y&T up to Contagious and then didn’t buy anything more until this year.
    I’m really surprised to see Facemelter at number one. I thought it was just a Y&T album, good but nothing special. So I’ll have to listen to it again. And I’ll have to do my discography review in January!

    • @offthecharts2272
      @offthecharts2272  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the nice comments! Yeah, Struck Down did not "strike" with me either... The debut is slightly better than Struck Down (imo)... I first heard MeanStreak on a compilation called Masters of Metal (or something like that...) and it's a great song... the album is ok... Yeah, I was surprised to see Facemelter as #1 also, but I REALLY enjoyed that album! Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope you get to do your review in January! :)

    I am trying to figure out your taste, lol. I knew Contagious, Ten and Down for the Count would be high on your list. I really like Black Tiger, Mean Streak, In Rock and Earthshaker. Facemelter is very good. I started buying their album in 85, In Rock was my first.

    Don't remember where I got it from, but I got the debut, Yesterday & Today, back in the '70s! I liked it, so when I saw their 2nd album somewhere, I grabbed that, too. Heard nothing more, but in the '80s got the song, "Mean Streak," on a metal compilation album & liked that, but still didn't immediately realize it was the same band. Shortly after getting that song I read or heard they switched to initials & felt special that I had the old band in my collection. Saw the video for "Summertime Girls" on MTV, since it was a hit in U.S. (& taped it because of all the bikini girls in it. LOL). Also saw a live concert by them aired on MTV with that metal robot guy onstage. 🤖

      I didnt know anyone (until now) who bought those Yesterday & Today albums - when they came out! And yeah, very confusing band name even you at the time didnt know it was the same…. And I agree 100% regarding Summertime Girls…. Visually exciting! 😂

    The album cover artwork is kinda up and down, and the name and logo is kinda lame.
    But no getting away from the great songs.
    I have a test pressing of " In Rock .." and I do like " Mean Streak ".
    I too have always felt that because of the artwork " Mean Streak" and " Black Tiger " are somehow linked.!.
    Cool " Bulletbelt " backdrop!.

    • @offthecharts2272
      @offthecharts2272  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh fer sure... half of the album covers are not great at all... and as a teen, that's kinda what you went for!
      But yeah, hidden beneath those terrible albums covers lies great songs and even greater riffs!
      Oh wow! I'd love to see a pic of that TP... you're the first person I know who has one of those! Awesome!!
      And yeah, the link between Black Tiger and Meanstreak is what I meant in comparison to the 3 Priest albums with an artwork link...
      And yes, THANKS for the Bulletbelt backdrop! :)
