Most charging points you would have to take van off to get in
You are not "choking" a diesel. The throttle control moves a fuel supply rack and "off" merely cuts the fuel off. If it is starting OK, then it does not need a pre-heat device, but very cold mornings might require a squirt of "Start Ya bastard", to give it a kick.
A true test is when you have a family in the car with a loaded van and car. This van would be right on the limit to the towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes. What is the tow ball weight ? Looking at the upgraded 2025 BYD shark at 3 tonne looks like a smarter option to tow.
Drive it further than 15klm on the Bruce hwy between Maryborough and Rockhampton see how long it takes incl re charging and power consumption results then.
It will be relatively similar short term to long term with the only real variable being incline
@ you were on a flat top road very little traffic and a short trip, no need to recaharge no slowing down for traffic trucks etc, no hills no road work the list goes on and on. I can comfortably get from Robinson in Brisbane to Rockhampton in 9.5hrs with a stop for coffee and top up tank towing our 18ft van. How long would that take in the test vehicle with the van and you get a lot of more realistic lts/ 100klm.
@@towoombaresident8491 clearly its not the car for you, perhaps you will like the Shark 6 that has all the same specs but has an onboard generator that runs on petrol so you dont have to be put out by charging.
@ yes really wanna see if it’s as good as they are touting. Hopefully a good in depth vlog when you get your hands on one.
Looks like LeCornu Furniture's old logo on the pylon sign copied off a former furniture store chain from the USA, Levitz Furniture. LeCornu Furniture's old logo has had a logo design identical to Levitz Furniture in the USA, consisting of a cursive script letter "L" inside an oval, along with plain italicized sans-serif lettering either spelling out "Levitz" in the USA or "LeCornu" in Australia. LeCornu Furniture never had any relations with the Levitz Furniture store chain. Even LeCornu Furniture's commercial jingle "Love it at LeCornu" sounds very similar to Levitz Furniture's commercial jingle "You'll love it at Levitz".
Hi Alexander, thanks for the cool information. I suspect the same, back in the day when the countries had no internet and were much less connected this would have been pretty common.
For anyone looking for a dependable mini excavator that minimizes such hassles, I’d recommend checking out Achilles Machinery. Their mini excavators are not only robust and well-designed for tough jobs but also come with user-friendly features that make maintenance easier. Plus, Achilles Machinery offers excellent customer support, which can be a lifesaver when you encounter any issues. Knowing there’s solid backup can really make a difference in how confidently you approach your projects.
Uh, what's a "swag"?
like a small insulated tent, popular in the country for its simplistic design and easy set up
Cool💪🏻
Your a road hazard dragging off other cars while towing a van. How long would it take to travel 900 km’s ? I’d put my Navara against your EV9 towing the same weight from Mandurah to Shark Bay and see who wins while still doing the legal speed limit. While towing a van you can only do 100 kmh anything over is against the law and also unsafe.
You can tow at the speed limit as long as your rig is less than 4.5 tonnes. Except in Western Australia.
Also the headwind from shark bay back to Perth absolutely kills fuel economy, i can’t imagine how poorly an EV would do on that stretch.😢
@@Realist-m9c that’s what I mean. Don’t bag other vehicles unless your’s can do better. EV’s still can’t keep up with real 4x4’s
Shark 6 towing video? Yes, please.
I'd love an EV tow vehicle, but with a range of less than 300kms it's just unworkable. It's all about range, I can get 700kms with my Ford Everest with a 3T van (I have a long range tank).
I normally tow my 3.5t off roader with my Y62 Patrol and that averages 400ks to a tank, just easier to refuel. I am keen to see how the BYD Shark goes though as it has the same power and towing as the EV9 but it also has a 125kw petrol generator under the bonnet to charge as you drive.
Love to see tests on the Shark. In SA as I previously mentioned and need a work vehicle for my new job that isn’t limited by charge times, and I 100% do not want diesel.
Just found this and can see from the vision you are in SA. I picked up my EV9 in Jan this year and want to know who put your tow bar on and did you have any issues finding someone in Adelaide I assume? I am just coming up to 15k Kilometers.
He fitted it himself. It’s in one of the videos on the channel. I’m in SA as well. So loving this channel. Don’t quite have the coin for an EV9 at the moment, but damn they look good.
Hi Chris, the towbar is from EV stealth solutions. Let them know you saw my video and your after the same tow bar and they will feight it to SA and give you options of a couple of installers.
Howdy Chris, I'm in a similar boat to you, collected my EV9 in December last year in SA. If you don't fancy fitting a towbar yourself, Kia literally just released an OEM towbar for the EV9. I know because I had one fitted today by Kia Mt Barker. Will be doing the first test tow with our van this weekend.
@@DamianCandetti thank you, will do in new year
How do i get one delivered to the northern Territory and are you a actual business ?
no I just purchased these to create and air bnb. you will just need to search around. Thanks
Thinking about the shark 6 too, hopefully you will do a review/test on that too.
This is the video I've been looking for. Thankyou.
How do you find the auger? I'm interested in getting one with a 300mm auger. I need to drill through sandy clay at my place.
Good on you for making those videos that’s exactly how I drive my model Y and model 3 I just like a normal car but a lot better
Sorry to see that you didn’t get many comments I’m not really aware of this problem so you’re saying it’s not the battery it’s the Bluetooth And if you turn the Bluetooth off it’s gonna be okay So what about satellite navigation then and all that stuff
Im not really trying to blame any particular thing. but wanted to point out the much higher radio waves in a Tesla. to date they are the only vehicle I have been in with such high readings but I have not testedt he latest look M3 or MY so there is a chance Tesla have fixed this as it has been pointed out quite a few times, just not a popular topic.
More great content, thanks. My caravan is arriving in a weeks time, so I'll be driving on exactly these same roads in SA then, towing with the EV9. This has been a really helpful insight. I have specifically chosen an aerodynamic caravan to hopefully squeeze out some more range. Would be great to see your caravan towing review.
Nice to be recommended an SA channel and a topic I’ve been wondering about. I live out Murray Bridge way and often tow a 10x6 cage trailer often and have wondered how the EV9 would go.
definitely curious to see how you go with a full size caravan
Only one comment and it's a suggestion only, with the inverter supply cables I would be upgrading the dual cables to a set of 250A rated cables, even though it is likely a very short run the cables in this video appear to be no where near sufficient for the max load the inverter can draw, which will create heat and a fire risk at worst.
G’day Darren, I’ve just ordered a subwoofer for my snowy River 19. Do you leave the door closed when you have the subwoofer/sound going?
yea the base will pass through the door no problem
@@DamianCandetti did wire it up? Any hints on installation? I have a portable subwoofer and ready to install any hints would be appreciated
amazing...especially you got it done in 4 days
You forgot the wire for the fuel pump.
Hi bob, yes I realised after I forgot to film that part but its pretty straight forward so not to worried about people not being able to connect the dots..... or wires in this case
I'm wondering how you would pull over at a charging station with a caravan on the back Melbourne to Sydney. Think it would be too impractical.
Most Super Chargers have at least 1 bay dedicated to trailer charging with the charger on the side of a parallel.. the only pisser is the charge door is on the drivers side so you would need to park facing against the traffic
I need to see a version of this being done with a modern foam core / epdm trailer roof. I cant even figure out how to put a rack on the thing.
I would think with a modern van if its aluminium frame you could just use the caravans frame. if its a timber style roof than you may need some sort of brace similar to this
@DamianCandetti @DamianCandetti There are 2 types of roofs. 'Walk' and 'no walk'. I have the latter and apparently they can barely withstand snow load. I might be able to tie into framing at the corners but not sure if that would work. Might even need to use rivets to do it because the aluminum frames are pretty thin and screws slip.
Excellent video, thank you. Looking forward to your towing video with this car. Will you be installing a brake controller in the EV9 for the towing test? If so, I'd love to see some more information on that in the next vid.
I wont be running a brake controller as all my trailers and the caravans come in under 2 ton and can get away with the regular hydraulic braking system.
@@DamianCandetti Does your loom turn off the reversing beeps and emergency braking while in reverse? I just tested out my OEM KIA loom and the beeps and emergency braking remain on. Bloody annoying for OEM equipment....
@@IXXIBoss yes it does, when connected the electrical system recognises it and puts a trailer connection notice on the main screen. it is possible that KIA might have used a generic 7 pin adapter and not the kia specific one. it also notifies you if one of your trailer lights are not working
What is the wiring harness that you used? Where can I buy it?
I would go to this website and email them. if they cannot get it to you they will probably know someone who can. evstealthsolutions.com.au/?srsltid=AfmBOorqOcwixyXV5hqFE240faM0mhskk_qqi4WdDrtkJgUM6UQyrdOa
With the initial fire up. Did you make sure the lines had fuel in them ? Or just start it up and the pump pushed the fuel up till it started? Thanks
I have always just turned it on and let the pump push it, I would think its no different to running out of fuel one night.
Love your work
Nobody spends this money to actually go off road, this is never actually going off road, it's going from paved camp site to paved camp site.
Hahaha
Looks good but towing it with a EV im not insteaded with that bullshit garbage 😊
That's a change for the better. Now, to make it efficient at being towed, it needs to be a pop top...one day.
Small and low, you would be lucky not to scrape the belly going into your driveway! Off road ? 😂🤣😅
I have since purchased the EV9 and although its no 4X4, I would love to take it off road and see what it can do :)
Were you allowed to enter?
Yes, I always get permission to record my videos
@@DamianCandetti Great video!
How big was the hole cut out in the roof?
I am not sure of the exact dimensions, the size will change from brand to brand too so you are better to off to look up the sizes online
Is it synchronomesh?
Yes, 8 speed box with syncromesh correct
Is it still holding up
Still going strong, all except a pesky diesel leak that is hard to locate..... but the machine itself is great.
many important steps missing - insulating h-frame - fixing h-frame to the caravan
they screwed the H frame down to the walls of the caravan and only used silicon as a sealer no insulation was added
got the same one from alex last year,, never looked back,,no issues and already 30 hours on it clearing land..well worth the dollars
Name of manufacturer? Available in usa?
I only know the Austalian importer sorry.
So, EQB if you have kids, EV9 if you have teenagers. Gonna need a roof trunk for the EQB though.
Been waiting a year for the factory to fix my van 😢
August 2024 and base ZS EV is only $35k with a 10 year warranty. You can forgive a lot of shortcomings for that price!
wow
How stress free was it pulling up the boat ramp when bringing the boat back up? Rwd slip at all?
I did have this concern but it was no problem at all, I think because as you start pulling the boats weight is still partially floaitng so it was quite easy.
The only other thing you can do . . is take your foot of the accelerator . . . and do Micro counter actions . . . that save me going past a Magnum ? always stick to the Caravan speed limit . . . 85mph is way too Fast - ?
The neck, love it
