Good honest review. Everyone fixates on it being Chinese and not Japanese. I've got 170 hours on mine and its still thumping away around the garden. What amazes me is how the original design is just good enough to do an incredible amount of work especially for non commercial use. Its not a Kubota but it sure beats a shovel. Well done
It's nice to see a video from early on in someone's tenure with one of these and from someone with operating experience who appears to have an open mind about them. I bought the next size up (3 cyl) from UHI last year and like you, I have experience on bigger machines so I had no trouble operating mine smoothly after a couple of hours of use but the chinese machines' reputation is often derided through new owners claiming they are "jerky" and unstable simply because those owners are often brand new learners and don't realise that the muscle memory and mechanical feel to get these to act smoothly is something that people learn over time, it doesn't come on your first day of operating. With regards to your seating position over the levers, I took my levers off and used an oxy to bend them to lean much more towards me so that I can sit back in the seat and operate, it made the world of difference to both my comfort when using it for hours at a time and for my ability to operate precisely and in a relaxed manner. As for seeing more videos, yes please. I can promise you that potential buyers go looking for these sorts of videos to help them make a decision on whether and where to purchase a little chinavator and what model to choose. Yours will be a help to many.
Hi Dave, yes I completely agree in regards to a lot of peoples problems being user error. I will try and make another video soon on some more detail. Thanks for the input. Damian
I have read online that most of these come from the factory with incorrectly set pilot pressure which will make it jerky for even an experienced operator, also of course a 3 cylinder will be smoother
@@janramonmartin Most of these don't have pilot pressure since the majority of the tiny Chinese ones are direct acting on the spool valves just like the one in this video. I've not been called upon to work on any of the few that have pilot controls (such as UME12P etc) so I don't know if those ones tend to have the correct pilot pressure or not..
@@davejaguar6532 interesting, I had also read that because the valves are square cut and not tapered they are jerkier - i have wondered about getting a cheaper single cylinder one and swapping to a kubota which are often junked when a lawn tractor fails
You are my Hero Damian. That job looks so risky with a small jolty machine like that, great work. You pulled it off, obviously you have a strong positive mind set.✅
Good video. I was impressed how you just worked it out for yourself how to get the track back on. Maybe it would have been better with the machine facing up hill but as you showed you did need it facing downhill to use the blade to stabilize the machine while digging. Probably that site was a bit challenging for your first job on the digger, but remember time in the seat is the best teacher. You may only have 1 or 2 other jobs to do with it but I'm sure now you have the machine you'll think of other jobs to use it on. Must be quite a powerful machine, I'm not sure my 2T digger would lift your brother. (Don't tell him I said that) Cheers.
This is great! My buddy just got charged $1,000 for a weekend of work at his house. They stung him an additional $400 for going over the hours too, so that’s $1,400… he’s got a few months of weekends left in work at the house, so after 10 weekends you’ve paid for it if he buys this! 👌👏
@@DamianCandetti if it makes sense it makes dollars 💸 how many hours do you have on this so far? We’re looking at a 3 tone version here in the US for $7k brand new 👌😎
Thanks for sharing i went to look at that machine as well but couldn't stand the noise of the engine .i am considering buying the 1. 5 ton machine . Doyou have any thoughts on the larger machine.
Personally I just wanted bang for buck, the 1.5 is considerably more cash, but it comes with a brand name motor that is undoubtably going to outlast this motor by a long shot. If you are buying to keep it long term than I would do the same and buy the 1.5
Hey mate! Great review. I just bought some land, and about to build my own place. Im a tradie, and pretty handy, but never done earth works before, only on the shovel when i was an apprentice. Reckon i could get away with doing my site prep and dig my footings with a machine this small (1t)? Its flat land. Id use it around the block for other little projects too.
If you have not used one before it may take you 3 x longer than someone that does it every day, I would think it would be fine digging footings as long as you dont come accross an immovable rock, then you would need to hire a bigger machine with a rock braker on it. but the odds are pretty good ( I have not come across this on a flat block myself yet)
@DamianCandetti yeah I am guessing it will take a bit for me to get use to, but that's all g if it takes me a bit longer. Site works will likely cost me 10-15k anyway. I'll have to dig a septic too, so that's a saving. Yeah shouldn't be rocky, it's all sand, and I can get a friend with some bigger gear to help, I'd just prefer not to rely on others. How are these things on the diesel? What are you burning through in a day? Thanks again brother. Just subbed.
As a heavy diesel mechanic who has worked on excavators for 15 years, I can honestly say they look like many Conor’s have been cut for cost cutting when being engineered. Cheap and nasty in my opinion and you literally pay for what you get.
If they could build to identical spec to the expensive machines then the expensive ones would go out of business. only makes sense that the cheaper excavators have "corners cut" and that you get what you pay for.
Hire rates at $400 a day ? You mean rental rates . Hire is when you get an operator person to operate the equipment for you. A hire car is originally a version of taxi . Today , hire gets used as synonym for rental . I learnt about wet n dry hire the other day , very funny . I previously knew about wet or dry clutches though . Do you think you gotta spell out that you ain't received any inducements to say only nice stuff about the machine? Yammie Noob was offered a free bike Venom 250cc bike to evaluate and keep. It later eventuated that he was expected to convey an overall positive tone about the bike . He thus declined and decided to buy a bike to evaluate and it's quite a picture he gives us about it.
Hi Philip, I am not sure what you are referring to with the inducements but if you are asking if I was paid or given the machine, no I purchased it at full cost with no benefits besides the extra auger that they threw in with the sale with no knowledge of the fact I make videos. Hope this clears it up. Thanks, Damian

Very good review, enjoyed watching, looks like a great, cheap machine

yea my thoughts exactly, get 4 or so jobs done and then park it up or sell it.

Thanks for the video mate! I just got the same excavator lolllll
Nice 👍
I am making another showing how the auger works too
That is about what I would expect coming from China. What's the old adage you get what you pay for?
Hi keen on getting one for a small property, keen to see the auger in action and digging strength, got a lot of fence post to install👌
I am actually using the 200mm auger on monday. I will try and get some then
@@DamianCandetti that would be awesome, don’t hold back on the pros and cons, I’ve only used bigger machines, so keen to see your thoughts
How’s it going now? Did you get all the jobs done? I’m looking to buy the 12p model as it’s cheaper than getting contractors in.
done 30 hours on it, never missed a beat. never run the battery flat. Stopped running the tracks off once I got the know the machine. So far so good.

Get the 1.5009 Ton, it is slightly stronger than 1.49 + 0.01 Ton

You paid $11,000 too much.
haha. come on, there is scrap value too.

$3K?? Someone doesn't know the cost of hydraulic cyclinders, pumps and diesel engines plus various buckets and augers. Well done Damien.
Sorry make that Damian
