Welcome! Follow along with us as I (Steve) teach my daughter (K8lynn) how to work on old vehicles and use these skills to fund the work on her own 1941 Ford pickup.
Since July of 2020, I’ve been referring to my shade-tree mechanics as Crossthread Garage. This was always a joke with friends and family about the fact that I may not do it right, but I get it done. Now it’s time to teach my daughter how to look at a mechanical problem and devise a solution.
We’re not restoring anything or even making it better. We’re just salvaging these trucks and cars and keeping them running one roll of duct tape at a time.

Engine OUT For OIL PAN Change? | FRANTZ Oil Bypass Filter Install
This week we're back on the 1941 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke with an engine pull to change an oil pan and the installation of a Frantz Bypass Oil Filter. Frantz has been a leader in bypass filtration for gas and oil engines since 1953. We're adding this filter to our setup and never changing the oil again...unless the oil analysis lab tells us to.

what size shocks did yall use for the rear im doing a flip on my c10 and cant figure out the shock size i need.
Stock shocks, just need new lower shock mounts. Comes with most axle flip kits you’d find on eBay.
Love my 1960 REO
One of my dad's best friends never changed the oil in his trucks. He would just change the filter and add oil. He did masonry work and racked up miles pretty fast and towed and hauled stuff with them. He would put about 300k miles on and then buy a new truck. I don't recall him ever having any issues

I only pre-fill vertical mount filters, it's too messy to pre-fill diagonal and horizontal mount filters.

Love the fuel tank.
Thanks, it’s actually a tool box made out of my old trash barrel. The stock Chevy frame mounted saddle tank for the ‘47 is in the same location on the other side. I turned it into a battery box and kept the in-frame poly fuel tank from the Dodge donor truck.

That white sports car body next to the Opel gt, might be a right hand drive Australian Bolwell fibreglass kit,started in the 1960s. The first model is a most beautiful looker, with# 350 and very fast. That looks a later model not far from original lines,still looking good.
