      Hey @thomasjohnrobinson4658, Depending on which part of our video you're referring to we either agree or disagree! Haha If it's the part about "staying in Thailand for the 60 days Visa exemption, leaving for a short time and coming back in again and being allowed to do that up to TWO times and then they'll say no", then we agree with you. You might have a little leeway with a kind officer who allows you to do it a third or fourth time or if you get an office who doesn't care or something like that and just stamps you into Thailand again. But, where we would have to disagree with you (if your comment was in response to it and not the above) would be in relation to all the other information about applying for the DTV Visa as an individual or a couple: those rules and fees are set. As well as being granted the 60-day Visa exemption upon arrival as a Canadian and being allowed to extend 1 time: those are set also and not up for the discretion of any given Thai officer. So, depending on which part of our video your comment was in response to we either agree or disagree with you, haha! Either way we thank you a lot for watching and we appreciate your comment! I don't think there is a VOA for Canadians. There is a Visa Exemption. And that now is good for 60 days and can be extended for 30 days. With no limitations on number of entries. Which use to be only 2 entries by land and sea per calendar year. Non for arrival by air.

    • @PlanFree
      @PlanFree 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are correct. Visa exemption for Canadians. In other words, Canadians do not need a visa to fly to Thailand and stay and enjoy Thailand for 60 days. After that, you cab extend for 3o days or leave Thailand for a time and then you'd be allowed to return to Thailand one more time for a 2nd 60 day stay. Then we were told that would be it. The immigration officers would not allow us to do that again. Two entries per year. Thanks so much for watching and we really appreciate your comment! Ayr & Lori

      Great question @rebeccaedgett5846! We're going to say that you would NOT do what we say in this video and rather that you would enter through the visitor line (probably for your last time) because your temporary residency process would not be officially complete until after you enter Mx and after you go to your canje appointment and after you get your green card. Hola fellow Canucks. Great finding a CDN view for costs. I'm making my first ever trip to Antigua/Lake Atitlan this sept. One item I'm confused about is money exchange. I usually buy USD cash to pay for items but many say to strictly use ATM to get Q's. What's your advice on this? Thanks

    • @PlanFree
      @PlanFree 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@user-cm8ns1rj6z For us, for almost any country we travel to, we always travel with USD$100-200 and just keep it handy. Especially when starting a trip. But the minute we get a chance to hit an ATM (at the airport lets say), we would withdraw the equivalent of a few hundred dollars (in Q in this case) to get starter. Or, if you can wait until you arrive at your final destination, if it's not too remote, you could always hit a local ATM in that town and withdraw some Q there. There are a few other factors you would need to consider for amount of withdrawal though: -how long is the overall length of your trip? -how are your accommodations being paid: if you already paid them in full you might not need that much Q for living. Or do you need to pay the balance of your rent in person when you arrive? Then you might need to withdraw a whole bunch more... Make sense? So long answer short we always travel with an amount of USD no matter where we go in the world, just in case, and then we withdraw local currency either right at the airport or at our first destination or overnight spot to last a portion of or the full length of our stay. * USD will not be accepted very much except for in Guatemala City and maybe a little in Antigua so we would really recommend getting Q. Congratulations on your first trip to Antigua and Lake Atitlan, Guatemala! Our first time was was recent also so our costs are pretty accurate for you. Wonderful to have another Canadian finding our channel we're here to help ask anything you like! Ayr and Lori

      @@PlanFree are there any money exchange stores around Antigua or Lake Atitlan to exchange USD to Q? I always have a concern if my ATM card doesn't work or gets eaten by the ATM machine.

    • @PlanFree
      @PlanFree 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How long is your overall trip? Just so you know we did not exchange any USD into Q. So just know that before you read the rest of our answer. Ok? But, having said that if we were in your shoes and we're worried about our ATM card and only traveled with USD we would definitely change a little bit of our USD at the airport or an in Antigua. Because in Antigua there's going to be plenty of banks and different exchange services, and there are a lot of Travelers in expats in that small city. Once you get to Lake alAtitlan it's quite a bit smaller and quieter and the only small town around the lake that we think might exchange your USD into Q would be in town of Panajachel. The other small towns you're better to use the ATM with your card. Which town around the lake do you plan to stay in and for how long?

      Thank you so much @nannymarta4268! We agree! That's why we chose it, for sure. Plus the proximity for us to the gym we wanted to join was just a 5-minute walk on foot and with the scooter that we rented it was a quick drive down to Bacocho beach (one of our favorites) to go on long walks and to do body surfing.... very quick and easy to get to the tortilla seller and our coffee vendor for coffee grounds as well as Benito Juarez Market... We really lucked out. The only unfortunate thing is we had rented it for a full three or four months or something like that and even though we had booked the property for that property right through until the and of May, the owners still came to us a month in advance and said "oh sorry, you have to move out because we have a booking for Semana Santa." 😳 So they essentially took the higher money "booking" because it was offered to them and actually asked us to leave! They asked us in a nice way....but that was still NOT cool. We thought we had the place for the full stay in Puerto. Verbal agreement. Wild hey!? So we were forced to kind of scramble and find a new apartment and all we could find at that time, for Semana Santa month, was something just about double the price! If there's a lesson in this we could just recommend paying upfront or getting a short rental agreement signed that spans the whole time of your stay.... because what we had arranged was paying week-to-week and so they just used it as an opportunity to give us a month's notice to move out. Anyway overall they were super happy times in Puerto and we would probably go back if prices ever came back in line again (we heard they are a bit out of control right now). Are you living in Puerto right now or do you plan to go? Ayr and Lori

      @@nannymarta4268 We could safely say that we would have no problems initially contacting the landlord to see if the prices are still in line with what we would want to pay. So the initial contact yes. No problem. After that, depending on what they said, would consider renting there yes. But we would endeavor to put a longer term rental agreement in place that would cover the full time and over any big holidays in Mexico! Congratulations on your retirement and passport, those are fun and exciting times for you! If you do quite a bit more research on rental prices and cost of living in Puerto Escondido and find that it's just too high, consider looking into even smaller towns with less infrastructure and less people. Hi and thanks for your question. We actually just got this question from someone else and reached out to our landlord in Aruba who told us that he has rented his apartment out for the next year or two long-term and so it will not be available. Sorry! We would love to help you more but most places do not have names. When we were looking, most of the apartments were owned by local people and rented privately. We found the ge wral area they were located in on Airbnb and theb drove there to ask around. The best thing to do (and we've done this in many countries) is to rent an Airbnb for about 10 days and then rent a car and search the Facebook Marketplace group for that area, or Airbnb, and go and look at some apartments in person. Works great! Does that help? Ayr & Lori

Two of the most important things we think a person can do, starting at any age but especially when they're younger, is to live below their means and not have any debt at all except what's necessary (for example a mortgage). Then a 3rd step would be to have a small business that you can hire the right manager or employees in to run while you are away keeping only a small amount of the profits for yourself and paying those people very well. 🙏 Ayr was a financial planner and stock broker in the early part of his career and he has a YT financial channel that helps to teach people some of the core things we did to get free. youtube.com/@planfreefinanceandabundance?si=ppXEtnbO4buM2OXl

    Some could say Bucerias is not worth the hype either - which I think you did touch on briefly. As always, depends on what type of lifestyle and atmosphere you’re looking for. For me, I moved to Bucerias for its small town charm, which I had experienced over many years of visits. If I were to come to Bucerias for the first time now, it would no longer be my choice. But I understand if others find it just what they want. One thing you find out for sure once you move to another country - or even another state - no place is paradise. Every place has its good and bad - and all of it is subject to change, as we have certainly seen here in Bucerias over the last two years.

    You have some very good advice! I also had a Temporary Residency (now Permanent), and bought a car here (Durango state). It is not easy to do! One thing that is required here, and I guess not in Jalisco is your SAT. Not the generic number, but your own private number, only issued when you apply at your state's SAT office. You don't need the actual SAT card (you only get that with your Permanent Residency), but the dealer requires upon sale that you have the paperwork for it (available for Temporary residents). Again, good video about a fairly complicated subject.

    • @PlanFree
      @PlanFree หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mention "SAT" number....do your mean the RFC number from the SAT office?? If buying a car from a private seller you do not need the RFC # but yes you are right in needing it from a dealer. We NEVER buy cars new though.....there are plenty of awesome used cars out there at a far better price in our opinion! Your comment is awesome and we appreciate the dialogue about it, hopefully it helps someone else out. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, love it! Safe driving to you! Ayr & Lori

    • @callmeBe
      @callmeBe หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, this gets more complicated than it should. You know, it is a Mexican thing. Why make things simple when they can be complicated?? At the dealership here they are required to get your CURP. That is for both a new AND used car. Your state is different? But when you go to the SAT office they will issue you both a CURP and an RFC. But for the car you don't need the RFC. Going further, as a Temporary Residente you will only get your CURP on a piece of paper. But, as a Permanente, you will get a card for your CURP. Both are ok (paper or card) for a car dealer here in Durango. For the RFC, as a Permanente or Temporary you only get the paper the SAT office issues. An RFC card is only if you become a citizen. So for me, I started as a Temporary and rolled over to Permanente after a year. So, I have both the paper for the CURP/RFC and the card for the CURP. I can't get the card for the RFC. I hope this helps. Thanks!

    • @PlanFree
      @PlanFree หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup, obviously there must be some state differences....and we do mention that in the vid. 😉 Nayarit and Jalisco must be a tad different then as nobody asked us for the CURP to buy the used car (NOT at a dealer....it was from a local person, as we mention in the video), pay the plates or ensure the vehicle. We did all that without giving our CURP # to anyone. Also two years ago when we applied for our temporary residency, Nayarit gave us our CURP number on paper as well as issued us each a card. Sooooo DEF some differences, again, like me mention in the vid. ☺️ We are just giving people a heads up as to how to go about buying a used vehicle in Mexico as a temporary resident mainly from a local individual. Thanks for the chat! And thanks for watching (or re-watching!) 👍

      You're very welcome! We're glad you found it entertaining and hopefully informative too! This video came about because we ended up teaching so many people beside us in the water, watching us have so much fun in the waves, they asked how to do it. So then we thought hey ...why not film the info!? So glad you found us and welcome to our channel.
