I can't argue with that since the vets are not helping them win games. Basically this team cannot shoot. Teams are backing off and daring them to shoot the three. Ant is not a playmaker and since he's not shooting well he may as well be on the bench. He has to go but we have to be comfortable that we won't get a lot for him. I

Questions about coaching and the FO make sense but I don’t really understand the ownership angle, the blazers are coming off of basically a decade of being in the luxury tax and being one of the most expensive teams in the NBA year over year even when there wasn’t really much of a reason to be. Jody Allen goes to lots of games and is around the team a lot. Having a “cool” owner that yells at games or spends lots of money on a shiny new stadium (Ballmer) doesn’t necessarily mean they are a good owner… if anything the fact that Jody has left the team to manage itself is probably a good thing when overzealous owners sometimes get in the way of their own management on some important decisions

Plus, who would Oregonians even want to buy the team anyway? Phil Knight is the name that has been romanticized but he’s almost 90 years old and we’ll be right back to this same discussion in a couple of years. The only other local name with ownership level money is Jensen Huang, but he doesn’t seem like a guy who would be interested in owning a sports franchise

Trade the vets that everyone knows we gotta get rid of and continue to tank this season so we can get some decent picks this off season and create some competition for guys like scoot and shae so they don’t become complacent, hope that either those two take a step next season or that our new picks will show serious potential. It’s all built on luck and hope

Clingan shot 55%, that is not bad especially considered two of his shots were completely wide open 3s… not great shots but what is the point of “development” if you don’t let guys try things out

Ant's mental game has to be so messed up. JG seems like a nice guy that lacks a killer mentality needed to help carry this team. DA is just a "I got paid so F the effort" guy. Ant and JG should have some suitors IF they can play decently before the trade deadline. I get the feeling that the team is stuck with DA for his contract, because let us be honest, who would want him (and overpaid his contract)? Teams have to WANT a player in order to trade for him. If a bottom feeder rebuilding team thinks he is a bum, most of the league probably feels the same way. I really like Rob. It feels like he actually cares when he plays. Big fan of him being the energetic big to come off of the bench for Clingan.

The question is if the team's goals are really to win games this season...?

Rob is not a top center. He's a backup center.

@MrJjreid You clearly haven't watched him play much. Him being a backup has more to do with the amount of minutes we want to throw at an injury prone player. If he wasn't made of glass, he would start and play more minutes. Hes much better than Ayton, and he's looked incredible when he's played this season.

@@Taylorpacker1 He's not even close to the player Ayton is. Ayton averaged 18 and 13 against Rob in his career, while Rob has only averaged 5 and 5. Rob will be a backup if a team trades for him. Rob is a good rim protector but he struggles in the post, not a good rebounder and brings nothing on the offensive side of the ball.

@@MrJjreid Spoken like a true box score watcher. Ayton may have prettier box score numbers, sure, but what that won't tell you is how awful he is at the little things that actually impact winning. His screens are garbage, he doesn't roll hard, he has stone hands which causes lo ts of turnovers, he's lazy with boxing out which hurts the overall teams defensive rebounding (despite his own person RBD numbers looking fine by grabbing the easy ones) and only in his dreams does he have half the defensive impact of a Clingan or Rob Williams. His BBIQ is low, and his motor and effort are inconsistent. It doesn't matter if he averages more points and rebounds, actually watch the game and you will know who is better (not ayton).

@MrJjreid DA has a soft midrange and thats it. he plays big min & Rob isn't. Rob contributions per min all-round is huge. but he can't play much. If he could, he probably wouldn't have been here... he pass he can P&R he can play transition he can defend the Rim and go out of the paint. our only 5 who can guard vs 5 out... witch is why we get blown every time a team shoots well behind the arc. Rob makes other players better. but he can't play most of the time and thats a big issue. and why he is a BU

This is correct. I started to get into "25 teams give or take... I guess take" but you've got it. It's still a wider field than the bigger contract guys but it isn't everyone. (It seems like the whole league is about to realize how hard transactions are in this market and if your team isn't already pretty good upgrades are going to be a challenge)

@ yup, completely agree. Definitely don’t intend to let my need to be the “well actually” guy undermine the main takeaway. Your point about the difficulty to make transactions makes it an interesting/fun deadline for the blazers specifically imo. They have guys they don’t need and with maybe some value in all salary slots with Duop, then Rob/Tisse, then Grant/Ant (and Ayton if you remove the “some value” qualifier). They have something to offer regardless of how the markets play out, and it’s (hopefully) just a matter of who, not if. Or maybe I’m wrong and it’s a repeat of last year, and we all collectively lose our minds on the afternoon of Feb 6

I like the way the team plays right now and wouldn’t want it to turn into a bunch of 3pt shooters. But they need at least 1

​@aardee175 Sadly, 3pt shooting wins games now. Having 1 shooter is actually our current problem, and it's too easy to lock down. That being said, I do think we need Ace or Harper more than we need Flagg.

While high shooting percentages typically indicate strong skill, they don't always reflect a player's true talent. More important factors come into play. The more open shots a player creates, the greater the likelihood their shooting percentage will improve significantly. With the right team, even an average shooter can put up impressive numbers
