Good to meet the people that influence your work.
😂 thats awesome!
If you swap the green wire for the black there's no need for a pigtail
Please teach me more sensei
Sure, you must breathe deeply while placing a steel bar across 3 phases otherwise you will never reach enlightenment
Both methods are Code acceptable, as the Code makes no recognition of either. Personally (being in the trade for 40 yrs, now retired) I prefer to pigtail. While it takes a little more time on new installs, I've always felt that NOT having the device carry the full downstream load is better. In commercial and industrial environments (where I did most of my work) it also allowed for changing-out a bad receptacle with the circuit "hot", since you are only un-wiring the device, and not the downstream loads.
Just picked these up at Lowe's on clearance for $15 I like em
You deserve it champ🫡⚡️
I dont believe its ment to have them in the back and on the screws. I could be wrong but my assumption would be to use either or and not have loaded like that. But yes the back stab iv always been told not to use and loose connection on top of it being completely loaded on high draw outputs.
Mike holt slept w my wife..
Never mix wire size
I was taught pigtails every time.
Stab lock
Back stab caused overheating because of bad sparking connection
UPDATE: I showed Mike Holt this in person, he says to use the device as a junction and use the back stabs
Liking the hat 👍
🤠
Pigtail!
I know your not supposed splice 12/2 and 14/2 together. And,Im thinking the wires wer loose, due to the stabbing of the wires.
High draw appliances and loose connections will do this every time.
15A rated device,loose connections,piss poor installation practices
That thing is giving me carpal tunnel pain with your little fingers.
Sounds like it got too hot that's why it's best not to stab in the back almost looks like the ground came in contact with the hot needs a 20amp breaker and GFCI 20amp what we lern from this loose connection and hope you don't have to pull new wire from the panel to solve the issue
We always pigtailed never stab in the back
I pigtail unless gfci circuit slaving to other recepticals
I only pigtail if the wires in the box are too short… and I use WAGO’s…
Pigtail
Honestly pigtails take longer and dont actually provide a benefit
Heat generated by loose wire connections on the outlet
My guess would be too much load being that it wasnt pigtailed. But bagstabs also could have played a roll in a loose connection
Pig tails
New? What have you Ben living under a rock dude
No im Patrick
Thats a hot load! Any malfunctioning device can pull too much power and do this new or old outlet. At first air fryer microwave and hair dryer/space heater running at the same time. 12g says it was likley a 20amp breaker and circut with a 15amp outlet which is good. Whoever added the backstack was the kiss of death and yes pigtail always!
Any circuit that is likely to have high draw devices on it gets a heavy duty outlet too when i install them. I dont tell the customer or give them a choice a j hook under the plate dosent come loose easily and makes great contact. This inclues washer microwave fridge garbage disposals and outlets that people are plugging in space heaters or ac's. The extra 30-50 dollars on the bill is almost unnoticeable to the customer for multiple replacements.
Plus the fact they only have one 20a circuit supplying all their countertop appliances
@@DelgadoElectric yea they needed ti separate the microwave and fridge and diswasher.
My favorite stubby is in my pants!
Loose connections create heat. Anymore questions?
Two high-draw appliances plugged in (e.g. air fryer + toaster oven); possible loose / corroded connection? All copper wiring (those neutrals look like copper...) or was any of it aluminum?
No aluminum, but they did only have one kitchen countertop circuit
You beat me to the air fryer idea your a sniper today lol
The guy probably hooked up a Bitcoin mining machine. Those things pull a lot of juice.
😂
Bad/loose connections 🤔
It overheated😢
That's not a gfci
GFCI protected
What brand?
Vessel 2200P2150 Ball Grip Screwdriver. On Amazon for like $13
@DelgadoElectric thank ya sir you are a scholar and a gentleman
Shit old receptacle loose connections and or backstab
Loose connection on a high draw receptacle
Always pig tail. Always unless it’s meant to be on the load side of a gfci
Pigtail
Love that thing
they been out for over 30 years
Pigtail if it’s a branch circuit but otherwise just safer to pigtail so your device doesn’t hold the whole load
Exactly.
Thats some good Hookin its a very noble profession. A tip use the magnetic ball attachment on the end of your fishsticks. You will be suprised how easy it is to line up things when they auto stick together. Ive even use that ball chain thing with the dog catcher like loop for tight areas. Great work you "Can" do it lol.
A magnet is a great idea ! Usually put a hook on the end but end up losing the little accessories that come with these
@@DelgadoElectric Not that it would have helped but I have that klein magnetic wire puller. That thing will pull romex though insulation up a wall. They do make a string version that ive seen installing can lights. Its kinda like ring toss with a magnet on it quite fun and effective. The guy had 6 cans wired and pulled no getting into attic in a hourish. Must have had good arm or just alot fo pratice lol.
