You Did it. Im jelous now! My surge is 5 years or more old well out of warranty and it looks fantastic. Now if you boot that surge you will be rolling deep in black on black. The videos I saw on this requred baking oven cycles and more looked semi complicated or involved. That way seemed very simple and more obtainable. Maybe its time and we can influence the tool community to follow suit. Heck if the tool companies see enough people do it they can just provide us with it new.
@@DelgadoElectric the McLaren F1 team actually made a blacked out DeWalt impact driver a little while ago. I’ve always wanted one but they’re unobtanium.
I grabbed a white acrylic paint marker from Walmart, prolly some better markers out there but just like the factory paint it’ll end up scratched up anyway

Looks nice
@@MORGANSMaintenance high heat at first then turned down to medium. Thanks I’m loving it, might have to do another tool👍⚡️

I wonder if some clearcoat could stop the dye from coloring the logo and be sanded off after
There might be something to that. I noticed the sticker areas(small portion not the entire area) sometimes doesn’t take the dye because of the glue🤔
What type of marker is best to repaint the letters thanks

does the rubber grip part on the handle not melt with the high temperatures?
They stayed the same 👍
Nice! I wanted to do this to my rotary tool. What temperature did you have the Heat on when you did this?
Had it on high then decided to turn it down to medium, just enough to boil the water
@ just did mine it turned out great! I’ll tag you in a shot in a few days
@ nice! I’ll check it out when you post👍👍
Did you have to add acetone??
Nope. Just boiled water and the dye👍⚡️
Bad ass
