Piegan Pass Trail: Siyeh Bend to the Many Glacier Lodge in Glacier National Park 4K
We started our hike at Siyeh Bend which is on the Going-To-The-Sun Road just east of Logan Pass. We hiked the Piegan Pass trail over Piegan Pass and out the Many Glacier Valley to stay at the Many Glacier Lodge after this fantastic 14 mile hike.
After a couple of miles of hiking there are excellent views of Mount Siyeh, Matahpi Peak, and Going-To-The-Sun Mountain to the east. To the west views of Piegan Mountain and Piegan Glacier appear after emerging from the trees and heading up to Piegan Pass. As you approach the pass, the rearview mirror views back to Siyeh Bend and Mount Jackson are amazing.
At the pass you will be granted breath taking views down toward the Many Glacier Valley. You will see of the east facing side of the Garden Wall, Pollock Mountain, Cataract Mountain, Bishops Cap, and Mount Gould. You will also pass Morning Eagle Falls as well as Lake Josephine and Swiftcurrent Lake before reaching the Many Glacier Lodge.
Once at the lodge we relaxed with a late lunch and watched the sun set over Swiftcurrent Lake and the Peaks of Many Glacier. Side note - the breakfast buffet in the Ptarmigan Room at the lodge is worth considering if you have time in the morning.

Highline Trail in Glacier National Park: Logan Pass to the Summit of Haystack Butte in 4K

Leaving from Logan Pass we hiked along the famous Highline Trail in Glacier National Park. We hike to Haystack Pass and then summit Haystack Butte which provides amazing 360 degree views of the peaks of Glacier National Park. From the summit we headed back to Logan Pass to finish the day. The hike skirts Pray Lake and then takes hikers along the north shore of Two Medicine Lake. Thanks again, Scott and Kim for this. I know you guys have done a few of these on the Highline Trail. Don't know if my friend and I will make it all the way you did, but we are so excited to get out there - third week of August, planning on that that trailer mid week at some point. Looked liked you started around 6am? We will get there good and early that day. Great views, excellent work.

    My husband loved this video ….. one of his favorites. Impressed with the outstanding views, you were quite high, above tree lines. Were there any babies near the mountain goat basking in the sun? Might have been more aggressive if there were. Maybe some day we will see you on the trails, would like a photo and autograph .

      Didn't see any babies this time, but there are many opportunities for that in Glacier 🐐 As the mom 😉 you get all the photos you want. Thank you!

    Gorgeous early morning start on the Highline Trail in which we experienced the sunrise over the Garden Wall, which Scott was able to capture 🌄 Our hike was highlighted by impressive views along a summit to Haystack Butte and meeting some nice folks from North Carolina ⛰👍

    What an epic hike! I loved the Two Medicine area so much when I was there last month. Did the moose shake like a dog when it came out of the water? I saw one swimming in Colorado last year and that’s what it did when it came out of the water it was so cool.

    Thanks for your great videos!!! We enjoy watching them. Question - How much water do you typically take on a hike like this one? Electrolytes? We will be there in a couple of weeks, planning on the Pitamakan-Dawson loop amongst other hikes. Do you think it makes a difference whether going out the loop along the North Shore (clockwise from Pray lake) vs counter-clockwise (Pitamakan Pass trail)? Is it worth going counter so that Two Medicine Lake is in the foreground on the way down from Dawson Pass?

    • @kimberlynolan2745
      @kimberlynolan2745 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Let me start by saying great choice with Pitamakan Dawson loop, it’s fantastic! Our recommendation is to go counter clockwise to avoid some extra uphill if going the other direction, which isn’t super awesome at the end of an 18 mile hike. The north shore hike is mostly flat and views of Sinopah behind you as you walk out are easy to stop and admire. We have finely tuned out electrolyte/fluid consumption and it is a game changer for us. I carry a liter of wate, 1 liter of green tea, and a body armor drink. Scott carries 3 liter of liquid and a water filter in case we get desperate. We would also recommend cliffbar energy blocks or something similar. The provide needed energy and don’t make you feel weighted down after consuming them. Enjoy you hike!! Here’s to a shared enthusiasm for wilderness exploration. Thank you!!
