@@J42274 last time I've seen hail this size occur in this area was on my first video ever, July 20th 2021 when we chased to Lockport and got hit with 3 hailstorms back to back to back.

@@J42274 the first US location those storms hit, iirc, was the Youngstown/Lewiston area. The storms were close to Lake Ontarion though. It was also the day that people suspected the wildfire smoke that was in the air at the time caused more hail, and bigger hail, because it provided more condensation nuclei for water vapor to condense on to form hail.

That was the strangest thing even though the storm was much weaker when I noticed this in Batavia, winds rushing in from the opposite direction the storm was, seeing the clouds move so fast and in opposite directions too, with a little bit of lingering rotation it looked like too. Never have experienced that in a storm in my life so far.

@J42274 if the rotation didn't weaken just as it got to Batavia we 100% would've seen a tornado on our chase there after the chase before. The view was perfect for this area. Even has farm equipment like from Twister too. 😆 You can probably see it in the video.

Where? I wasn't really paying attention to yesterday's weather because nothing ess forecast over or near me. The only spot I was aware of that severe weather was forecast was hours to my east, and it's just not worth it to drive that far if it's not an enhanced risk or higher, moderate or high risk preferably.

I had no idea this was coming until I saw people in discord talking about it, then I looked at radar and saw this storm exploding over the lake. Rare occurance of storms not being devoured by Lake Erie. 😂 Overall a classic great storm.

Definitely. Way better than last year. Hopefully we get something on July 20th too, to continue our July 20th storms streak. My first ever video was on July 20th 2021 and that was a day where it was 3 hailstorms in a row in Lockport where we drove, the next year on the same date were intense nighttime storms, and last year on that date was the MCS me and a few guys intercepted at Hamburg Beach.

Definitely better than last year. Last year seemd like it barely had any good storms besides 1 or 2.

I was thinking the same thing. I wanted to see sprites so badly since the view was perfect but there just weren't enough of what you mentioned. We need a Florida-like storm with constant lightning.

Thankfully no. The sewer system in a huge area where I am was worked on a year or 2 ago and it has been better. It has to be blinding torrential rain for multiple hours to flood as bad as it used to now. Before, all it took was just normal heavy rain for a few hours and it got far up our driveway. Flooding in the past destroyed one of our cars while we were on a trip in 2019 too. The water line was at least 2 feet up our garage door, totaled a car we left there. :(

This was actually in western areas of NYS, surprisingly.

@@newyorkstatestormchasers oh, because i’m in central florida and i got pummeled, quarter sized hail and lightning struck the streets

I am glad we're getting more storms here, good storms too. For a while after our Florida trip last year we had little to nothing at home, besides 1 or 2 good storms.

I could've taken the time-lapse earlier and had more in it but the phone was super fast charging because it died. 🥲

@@J42274 it definitely is. May 8th we get storms, May 22nd tok and now today, the 25th. More are forecast 2 days from now too. It's reminding me of 2020 when there were severe weather risks every 4 to 7 days it seemed.

This was only our 2nd decent thunderstorm all year. I can't imagine not getting anything good all year. It's rough in this area. We used to get more good storms too.
