    If you could overcome your instinct to put flip flops on, that gravel would be so good for toughening up your feet. A long walk on that surface would probably bruise under the skin and abrade the skin itself. Both would heal a lot stronger than before. You'd have leathery soles and a layer of what amounts to muscle between the skin and what's behind it (blood vessels etc).

    I've watched most of your videos and really appreciate them. I have been to Yosemite but unfortunately only for a day. We hit the valley and hiked north dome which we lived. Early June 2025. My 21 yr old son and me at 60yr old are coming back for 4 days. We will be coming in from east on Tioga Pass Road and plan on camping in the park. I know there are a bunch of itinerary videos out there but I really would like your opinion. Starting from the east and continuing to work through the park, what hikes would you prioritize for early June? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

    • @theyosemiteguyd
      @theyosemiteguyd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mikecasey4766 The first thing I would be worried about is if Tioga pass is going to be open in early June. Every year is different. This year it opened June 10th but last year it was mid July. So accessibility to certain trails that time of year could be limited. But if they are accessible the hike to glen aulin is one of my favorites. Also the cathedral lakes hike is very good. A bigger hike would be clouds rest from Tenaya lake. More difficult but the views are some of the best in Yosemite. Next focal point would be in Yosemite valley with the mist trail to the top of Nevada falls. If ribbon falls is running I’d probably hit that up as well. Early June is a great time for the Wapama falls hike at Hetch hetchy. Might be worth the drive and the hike is pretty easy. Definitely want to hit glacier point tossing in the sentinel dome/taft point hike in. And finally hitting the Mariposa grove of giant sequoias near the South Gate. That’s what I’d do. 😁

      @mikecasey4766 There would be benefits in either month. The waterfalls are bigger in June. But if you're set on seeing the high country, July might be a safer option. Also, more snow will have melted if it's a big winter. I'm happy to help!😊

      @@theyosemiteguyd You're right about that. The guy who told me wasn't a climber. I tracked him down thru a mutual fb friend and he said he didn't remember ! I've been around the Valley and some of the high country and suspect it may be in the Wawona region which I'm not familiar with .

    Have you heard tell of a spot in the Park known locally as Shangri-La? An employee told me about it but I forgot to ask where.

      I haven't heard of it. It sounds like a climbing route, but I don't know.

    Wow that brought back old memories. I haven't been to the top of Fresno dome in years. I might have to take my grandson up soon. We used to visit billy dew meadows, and hike to Star Lakes. We also did weekenders at Miami creek when we used to ride. Love your content and Lunches. Hope to see you on trail some day.

    Did you need a Yosemite reservation for this area? I believe you pay to get in but I’m just trying to find things we can do without the park reservation as they are unavailable the day we need!

      Yes you need reservations for this area.
