That was truly an EPIC adventure. The views were spectacular and gave me some acrophobia in several places. I need to write to the rangers and make sure you get a permit anytime you want. Your home looks very nice. Glad you made it there safe. You said the rock face was slippery, will a rain storm rinse any of that away ? was it less slippery barefoot? The entire hike is quite the work out. You may need a long soak in a hot tub to ease the strain. Bravo ! Excellent presentation and so glad you share so generously. Thanks
Thanks Archie. Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope the rangers listen to you. Lol. The rock is slick there just from so many people walking on it in the same spot so it makes it super polished. And my wife has done a nice job making our house cozy. :) Hopefully I can make another video soon and I hope you're doing well!!
Hey Yosemite Guy'd 👋 This episode is amazing! I like hiw you showed so much of the trail on the way to the cables. It certainly seems easier going up rather than down! The cable part does look pretty intense. Really enjoyed this one. The night hiking looked crazy, but you saw a scorpion 😮😊
I love your videos Yosemite Guy'd , honestly I started making some videos in Yosemite and I reference your Hawaiian shirt ( clouds rest video from valley)!!! I love watching before I go as it helps me with reference pointes . I'm curious what day this was (month rather) . If you need a hiking buddy holler !! Cheers - Donny F. -
Truly amazing adventure! I would love to bring a football to the top of Half Dome and play catch. There is a lot of space up there. Good thing you didn’t eat the ghost pepper this time!
That's a good idea!! One time I took a kite up there and that was pretty cool. I think my ghost pepper plant is done producing for the year so I'm safe for a little bit. :D
From the beginning the route with that view is spectacular but then when you walk on the rock with the ropes while going down with that view wow... magical place... 👏👍💪😉
Your a strong hiker! You hiked so fast from Nevada falls to half dome😅 it took me a while, I’ve done this twice. But I started from the valley floor both times and that was brutal but rewarding 🎉. Have you hiked the diving board? Me and my bf also got denied like ten times to hike half dome so we just went during off season and did it cables down😅 so much better
Thanks for watching! I really love this hike from the valley as well. I like to feel the pain. :) But my wife is not a big fan of me getting on the diving board so I try to respect that. I do like doing half dome with the cables down as well. :). Good job!
I’m sitting here with my wife eating dinner watching this video. I knew you were epic but damn. Thanks for the video cause I been telling my son you hike barefoot but I didn’t think he believed me so thanks for the proof. By the way you are special and this video should be on Nat Geo. Love you buddy !!!!
An epic hike! I made it up to the top of Half Dome in June of this year - it was great to be back up there for the first time in 30 years or so. I did see one hiker go past me heading up barefoot on that trip! The ranger who was there on the day I went up was telling people to go up the cables arm over arm on one cable - that is was much easier than trying to hold both, and I would have to say - she was right! Going up the cables took an hour because of traffic - coming down took 20 minutes, half of that was once again waiting for traffic. Brutal hiking back up to GP after doing HD! When I tried HD from GP, we were dropped off at the top and hiked down to HI - that was hike enough!
Good job on conquering half dome!! And yeah staying on one cable arm over arm is definitely better and a must if there's traffic. But that last two miles back up to glacier point was pretty brutal! :D
I descended the cables in 1977 during spring when they were lying flat on the rock. We had just climbed Snake Dyke (on the opposite side of Half Dome as the cables) and as we approached the top, we noticed all these little figures moving around and realized there were probably 100 people on top. It was very discouraging to see so many people after the isolation of climbing the route. And this was early spring when the cables were still down! It ruined the experience for us. The system of permits is a wonderful thing for preserving some semblance of a wilderness experience.
Yes, I see why they have the new system. It also keeps the cables from having dangerous amounts of people on them at once. I do get a little frustrated as I have been denied three times in a row recently. But, then again, I've been up it so many times. Maybe it's better that other folks get a shot.
That last bit back to glacier point is brutal. My father in law and i did this but spent a night in LYV and even then i didn't get to the top. I turned around with that last bit back to glacier in mind.i barely made it back having stopped at subdome lol. impressive like the other vids!
I think being aware of limitations on any hike is underrated. We're out here to have a good time and enjoy nature. Having foresight keeps us safe to go again!
Thx man. Permits are hit or miss. I got rejected three times this year but my friend got it on one try. Your best bet is the initial lottery in march where you can pick a bunch of different possible dates.
Yes! I told him that I had watched a lot of your videos while we were planning our trip. Thanks for doing such a great job documenting all of the various hikes in Yosemite!

Yosemite Guy your the best at what you do to inspire me to come up here from Southern California to go on some incredible adventures. Keep on hiking
Awesome!!! Thank you. Thats definitely one of my goals. Hope you make it up here soon. :)
I've done that twice now (from Happy Isles) and I just want to say you captured the essence of climbing the cables perfectly. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!! Definitely one of my favorite Yosemite hikes. :)

Hey DL!! Glad you enjoyed this one. It was a lot of fun. Lots of creepy crawlers after the sun went down! :)
Beastly. I couldn’t do that in Yosemite but I always have a bear can and all my gear when I’m there. All your videos are a great watch, thanks man
Thanks for coming along with me. I'm glad you enjoy my adventures! It's good to be prepared for anything 😊

That's awesome, man! Love your energy! The video came out July 30th. I hiked it on like the 28th. Yeah, we should get on a hike sometime.

Great video to show the view perspective for those of us who have never done the half dome!
It is quite a special hike! Thx for watching 😁

Beautiful, but the cables gave me flashbacks 😬. 20 mile hike would take me 1.5 days😊 Spongebob 😅
Spongebob helped me get to the top!! :D

Thank you! Yes, it appears steeper once it's right in front of you. It's definitely intimidating.
@@theyosemiteguyd I was totally ready to push it but I knew illilouette to gp was going to kill me. Yo you killed the clock on that tho!

What month was this? Nice video.
@@olivero-j1r It was the end of September last year. Thx for watching!!😁
Love the vid, you’re an animal hiking these trails this fast. Is it hard to get a permit for half dome?
Thx man. Permits are hit or miss. I got rejected three times this year but my friend got it on one try. Your best bet is the initial lottery in march where you can pick a bunch of different possible dates.
Epic!!!
😁😁
What month did you do the hike?
September
Aaron from Tenaya Lodge sent me!
That's my guy! :D. Hope you enjoy the video!! :)

@snoopytoetag9556 Thanks man! I truly appreciate the support. It's definitely one of my favorite things to do.
No gloves on the cables.
Yeah, no gloves on the cables is pretty dumb
I hate stairs and switch back trails also
