There are lots of old trails that are not maintained any more, in all the Western National Parks and other areas. They are really fun to travel on, as there are usually not too many people on them. Thanks for the info.
@@theyosemiteguyd That is exactly what I do. I have several old books on the Tetons. In the Tetons you can discover a lot by hiking in off trail areas and just driving around.
Amazing adventure , yet again ! Way off the beaten path to a million dollar view. Hardcore BF hike on what appeared to be an abandoned trail. Curious if you have done that route in years past and if it had ever been an official park trail. Great nacho treat to refuel after a strenuous climb. Actual plate and fork too. Super video. Very cool to connect with one of your fans as well.
I did that trail a long time ago so I didn’t remember exactly which way was the right way. I think the trail was actually abandoned in the 70’s due to rock slides and dangerous conditions. It was one of John Muir’s favorite spots though. And yeah I can’t believe I actually had utensils. Haha. Come to Yosemite so I can take you on a hiking adventure:)
I really love this adventure! Thank you for your extremely clear footage. I am now convinced that I will enjoy this hike vicariously rather than living it myself ha ha ha ha! 😊
Thanks for watching my friend! All is well here. Yeah, this trail is definitely a bit tricky. I definitely wanted to emphasize the potential dangers involved. I’ll take you up there though if you ever want to go 😁
I've never been to Sierra point, and at this point I'm resigned to probably never going there. If I was with another hiker whom I trusted and who'd already done the climb up a couple of times, I'd consider it. Great views up there! Thanks for the vid :)
Did this a number of times back in the 70’s, before it was decommissioned. Was any of the old cables or hand rails still there? The view up there was amazing! 👍🏻💪🏻👊🏻
That’s so awesome!! No cables left. Really the only rail was at the actual sierra point on the edge there. Kind of a loaded question but what are some of your favorite lesser known Yosemite spots?
@@theyosemiteguyd oh wow, that’s a tough one to remember! The bottom of the Royal Arch Falls, the approach to and glacier on Mt Lyell (lots of people see Lyell from the canyon, but not a ton of people see the canyon from Lyell 🤷🏼♂️), the Top of Mt Hoffman and scrambling down the back side of Bridalveil Fall. Most of the way anyway. Loved that place from the moment I first saw it. Camp 4 was pretty cool too before it became a zoo. 😂
It’s easy to zig when you’re supposed to zag for sure. I had a couple of wrong turns myself and had to backtrack. Hopefully this video can help you find it. Was an awesome view.
Snakes are common during summer in this area. Even seen a lot of rattlesnakes past the top of Nevada Fall. Definitely something to keep an eye out for.
Astounding someone could do that BAREFOOTED!

Yes, that's true. Vintage and antique wilderness books are a great source to find some, besides talking to locals.

That was awesome (and a little scary)! Thanks for letting me tag along! It was top on my bucket list
Had a great time my friend!
I love hiking up to Sierra Point! My channel’s picture of me was taken at Sierra Point almost 30 years ago!
Great pic! Sierra point is an amazing spot… especially when all the falls are pumping.

What’s up, my brother! I was just thinking about you and this showed up in my feed. Can’t wait to give it a watch! Hope you are well!
Jeff is the man!
I can confirm that Jeff is indeed… the man. 😁

Thank you buddy !! I’ll definitely reach out one day and we can make it happen !! I am pretty out of shape right now though embracing the dad bod 😂
Sounds good! I have one of those, and I don't even have kids!😂😂

Yeah, it's best to be safe, but totally worth it if you find a buddy. 😊 I glad you enjoyed coming along with me on the video!

Wow I wanted to do that hike, but I couldn’t figure it out unfortunately

I bet the 1st person that wondered upon that site said “iv seen it all now” and jumped off
🤣
5:54 It’s incredible that you can hike this barefoot 🦶! 7:07
Hobbit feet 😂😂
how about snakes????

Where are your boots?
Nice to see you hiking 👣
It wasn’t the easiest barefoot terrain but it felt pretty good :)
