How was Killing Floor not in this list. Killing Floor (the original 2005 mod) was the first ever Horde Shooter and Killing Floor (2009) and Killing Floor 2 are amazing games. Left 4 Dead took after Killing Floor, not the other way around.

When talking about the difference in playable characters, you forgot to mention that although the villager has no magic, and no derrin, you do get get nicer shoes. Totally worth.

I don't reccomend master mode, I reccomend modded at that point. Calamity revengance is a good step.

imo, you can't bring up Left 4 Dead 2 and not bring up Payday 2. Honestly I don't think you can bring up Horde Shooters in general without talking about Payday 2. It is peek funny, and doesn't even need mods to feel just as fun ten years later

To this day I still think that Vermintide 2 is peak Horde Shooter to me. Everything just so neatly fits together in that game and has yet to ever get me bored to this day! All I wish it had was more achievements like Left 4 Dead 2 to have more goals and reason to start up that bad boy.

This game came out a year before I was even born, but my dad showed it to me at a young age. Since then, it has been my absolute favorite game, and I see it not only as Bungie's magnum opus, but as a pinnacle of rich storytelling. I was fascinated by this game as a child, and I now work as a videogame concept artist; Nothing comes close to the brilliance of the Myth franchise in my opinion.

EXACTLY. It's this amazingly animated textured detailed beautiful game with most amazing feeling weapons but there's almost nothing to kill!! I played 2033 and Last Light like 10 times each and Exodus didn't disappoint me on the first playthrough. But god is Exodus painful to replay. It's a tragedy. It's a crime. Imagine this game but with hordes of enemies. Imagine Exodus but as a horde coop game!

B4B didn't just have easy task of improving on L4D but they'd had a decade of other people doing billions of dollars of research and projects of Payday The Heist, Payday 2, Killing Floor 2, Vermintide, Vermintide 2, Deep Rock Galactic all expanding on and experimenting and improving First Person Coop Horde in their own ways. It's like they took no notes from any of it but just really did look at L4D and nothing else and try and figure out themselves how they could re-iterate it as a more pve focused game.

just an amazing game. You can also play the campain with more than one friend! :D hope this game gets a blowup again!

You're not saving health potions for yourself, you're saving them for derrin. YOU use the mask in level 6. The reason for this is revealed in a journal in the apothecary's office on level 5 (the crossroads) which I was lucky enough to read before using my first health potion. The health potions aren't described as being a potion, but as a healing salve. The journal in the crossroads mentions that they found a salve which altered organic material, which the dude who discovered it first noticed because his skin started to become more scaly. So naturally they started running experiments with it on terminally ill patients, and they discovered that it had a range of effects, but eventually one patient went crazy and acted like a "cornered animal". I haven't been paying much attention to the lore, but what if that salve is that healing salve we keep finding? The only two with set spawns are in hospitals. And that person acting like a cornered animal? Sounds a lot like those weird undead that we find wandering around everywhere. It's probably fine to use the salve, but I'm not taking any risks. That shit is for derrin to enjoy all on his own.
